CBM's Jewel of Destiny game works out of the box when so much as opened in TK3 -- perhaps if you had spruced it up to use some of TK3's features, this would be useful. Unfortunately, the latter did not happen. You also included an assortment of unrequired files (only trans3, actkrt3, freeImage, and auidere are required) that bloat up the download size by ~1.5 MB. When you consider it's only 3 to start with, that's pretty sad.
I'm probably overreacting, but I think that opening a game (which never showed any of even TK2's features) that's not even yours (thus, it probably shouldn't even be on MS) in TK3, zipping it along with a host of unused files, and calling it a TK3 port is a stupid, useless thing to do.
-
Well, it's better then the current Demo game. And yes, I do believe your over reacting. Personally I think it was a fun idea, and so did Spyder.
Honestly, I think what was a stupid, useless thing to do, was to post this topic, complaining about what I did.
No offence...
-
lol Yeah, what DM said! No offence, but yeah, it was a cool idea. Okay, I admit
my greatest challenge was walking around, but still, it was cool!
-
A pretty useless "port" if you ask me.
-
I never said it was port. It's a conversion of JoD into TK3.
-
There's nothing wrong with what Dudeman did, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be hosted here at Mystic Software. The original Jewel of Destiny has been hosted here for years. He didn't make the game any worse, so I honestly don't know what your complaining about. Yes, it's a useless port in that there's absolutely nothing different than the TK2 version, but it still gains advantages from TK3 such as running smoother, better multi-tasking, etc.
As far as it being able to be run on TK3 right out of the box; I was not aware of this, and assumed that it could be quite difficult to convert a TK2 game to TK3, considering the problems I've been having attempting to convert G:A.
-
Well infact, there was some probloms. The Tile Bitmaps didn't work the best, they became all werid coloured and such. And I did discover some probloms, I noticed, that there was no special moves folder, so I had to make one, and that RPGCode Programs don't run for special moves, (so Tano's #attackall only attacks one character), also I had to toally remake the fight backgrounds. But I did add some extras, like you'll notice Frap has special moves, and there are the other enemies that didn't appear (ie: Evil Eye and Larva). But, that could have been done in TK2. Frankly, I think it shows more stuff of TK3 then the currnet Demo game. And I think it would even make a fine replacement. Wink
-
Indeed, it's fine Spyder; I just felt like pointing out no work was required (whether Dude Man did any is other story). You didn't "add" those enemies, either, Dude Man. They're from the Powerhouse Edition, so "adding" them might even be illegal. Wink
As for replacing the demo -- yes, it needs to be done. There were some people doing it, but that idea seems to have been long forgotten.
-
Nay, nay, KSNiloc. I've been in discussions with a person associated with a certain IDS and they're keen to make a simple, but sweet little informative demo for TK3.
Lets just say, it has more chance of completion than one involving Marc (Word2) at the helm. Razz

Lol. It's been a long time since I've posted here :S
The new demo should be very good, we have a very nice team working on it who are very committed to it. The end product should be rather nice Very Happy
-
Let's hope so, for your sake. Wink

You'd better not have DwD on that team. Our demo squad got him first!
-
Well, I didn't rip the badies form the powerhouse edition, They were part of it, just they never appeared.
But meh, the whole point wasn't for it to be used as the demo. Just for you guys to have some fun with it, and for some good ole' memories.
So yeah, you can except that right?
-
Did you ever play the powerhouse version of The Jewel Of Destiny?
-
Number Eight: I never played Powerhouse Edition because it was never avaiable for me to buy.
Dude Man: Just so you know, here's a little something you can fix.
The demo of DMD RPG is an option that comes with JOD. Don't worry, I can't play it because it can't find the character: Cesque. lol
Just a little something you can fix.
Pezzer: Who the hell are you?

Nop, he isn't on the team Razz
-
Pezzer: Who the hell are you?
Yo' mamma! Razz
Nah i'm only joking before you take it the wrong way.
Me; I am an activish member at TkZ and a member of IDS (InDreams Studios). I am one of their musicians.
To quote a phrase; "who the hell are you?" Wink
-
Ahhh, I see...
-
Number Eight: I never played Powerhouse Edition because it was never avaiable for me to buy.
Oh. Well the powerhouse Jewel Of Destiny is totally AWESOME!
I wonder if it would be ok with CBM if I made it available...
-
DMM: That explains why it such a huge file
#8: I extremly dought it. I've allways wanted to play the Power House Version of JoD, but by the time I was done saveing up to buy Powerhouse, they stoped selling it...
-
Number Eight: Hmmm...I wish I could just go, and ask CBM, but I can't, and I'd ask Vampz if he could for me, but I'd doubt he'd listen.
Dude Man: Well, at least there's TK3 now.
-
You cannot distribute the powerhouse version, or anything that is part of it.
It's really that simple -- you just can't.
-
I'd ask Vampz if he could for me, but I'd doubt he'd listen.
Actually, I wouldn't listen because it would be against the Powerhouse license, thus impossible.
-
Well, maybe someday, us non powerhouse folk will get a chance to play the Powerhouse version of JoD. But it's not something that I'm going to start hopeing for, and wasteing birthday wishes on. Laughing
Meh, so we cool with the TK3 JoD now?
-
Meh, so we cool with the TK3 JoD now?
Yip, for now Wink
-
Goody, goody joy. So yeah, go have fun with it then. Razz
-
I wonder what its like.
Grr... Blasted TK3! WHY DON'T YOU RUN!??
Oh well. Sometime maybe it wil work.

Does our Demo Squad still exist?
