Title: (no subject)
Post by: Blackhart Joe on March 16, 2005, 01:39:32 PM
I recently downloaded and installed TK3.0.5, and it works fine except for one problem: everytime trans3.exe runs, it locks up.
Trans2 ran fine; only trans3 does this

I'm running Win98 SE; does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
I'd really rather not go back to TK2 after reading over all these cool new features and saying (multiple times) "Hey neat! That's what I've been needing!"

Colin and the team are wracking their brain(s) out on this one. I am experiencing this too, except that it doesn't lock up but the boards and characters wont show up(they're opened because the background music still plays, and the warps also work just fine).

do you have the thing that if you load up the internal menu, and press a button it does it twice?

I think it may be a driver problem.

One major thing: uncheck the 'enable joystick' checkbox. it'll make things go faster.

I can't load up the internal menu, I can't test anything. The moment I try to test a program or run a game, trans3 tries to open up and then just freezes, just a black window

a driver problem sounds likely... I've had trouble with drivers lately, particularly my sound driver.

Hmmm....
The sound driver and the game controller (ie, joystick) driver are part of the same set; perhaps I should try disabling the joystick and then running again.

I don't think I've noticed this joystick option. Is it in the Edit Main File thing?

Guess I'll have to wait

There's the answer and question in one. Wink

I probably shouldn't link you here, but there's some information that might help.

Ugh. I just need a new computer. Every day that goes by, mine gets more and more useless.

Make sure that the graphics option is set to 16-bit, it made the boards show up but not the character animations.

I don't even know if I have problems with boards or character animations.
I tried running a test program consisting of basically a MWin and a Wait, and I don't even get to see the MWin. Just a black expanse

My comp's a piece of dung-doodle, and I'm afraid tha's all there is to it. I've noticed that there are other programs, such as Warcraft 3 & Civilization 3, that it refuses to run. I never noticed before because I had only been running MS Word, ADOM, and attempts at TK3

...... wait a second..... the programs that refuse to run.... they ALL HAVE "3" IN THE NAME! That's the problem!
LOL

Yeah....

Curse the number 3! They say it's a lucky number, but they are wrong! 3 is a curse!

Probally Doom 3 wouldn't work either! And Fallout 3 (When it comes out)

Wait, maybe it just has to do something with modern programing, because ALL things made these days are 3s!

Try running an old program with the number 3!

Yeah! That's probally it. When I got that it started to work. Sorta, the editor still was a little funky, but I think that's because it's work differently.

Funny, I thought I *had* DirectX 9.0c, turns out I don't. I must've dreamed it and got confused.

I'll try that tomorrow

You have Battlefront? Jeez, that game rocks! I was going to buy it for PS2 or Gamecube...

Maybe I should try downloading directx 9.0c. Maybe TK3 will work then. *goes to microsoft website*

Curse you microsoft! You make the only computer that TK works on!

The computer that I need it for isn't connected to the internet, so it appears I'm going to need the redistributable DX9, 33M, and this connection disconnects randomly all the time due to some problem in the phone lines, so a 33M download is hopeless

"Nubbice"?

nubbice-->novice Smile

Oh just discovered something, are your character animations made from tiles? if so, they show up as transparent for some reason. If you draw them as bmps and such, they show up fine!!!! WHOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! Phantas may get done finally!! well if i can get the menu to pop up.
