Will somebody please list a few good C++ textbooks that aren't too expensive? I would greatly appreciate it.

Alright, I guess I could spend an hour walking to the library. Of course, I'd have to get a card and stuff. (f****** procedures...)

Well.... at least at my school...

Our standard is five books over your topic and no internet/magazine/television sources.

Usually, I have to actually resort to driving down to the library, and looking. Sad

Heh. For research papers and such, I use WorldBookOnline a lot, as well as a few other online Encyclopedia sources, and if necessary, HistoryChannel.com

No, I mean the public library. The only time I think about visiting is when I'm driving home and I got frozen stuff... Sad

k...1. Programming with C++(Second Edition), Author:John R. Hubbard
2. Teach Yourself C++(Sixth Edition), Author: Al Stevens

There the ones I got from my local library...they are both descent books so I'd advice you to go to a library and hire them out rather than buying them Very Happy

Better yet, I'll just wait 'till next year to take Comp Sci. 2 (C++ Programming) in high school, although I did want to have some SERIOUS knowledge about C++ ahead of time so that my final project could be something SERIOUSLY cool, like a full-blown RPG in C++. Hell, if I pull that off, and have everything COMPLETELY original, I would have the right to sell it  Very Happy

But I can't even make a VB RPG Sad

lol, VB..

That's some fun stuff. The first game I made in it, was like a cheap rip off of pac-man. But it's still so much more fun to play a game, that you made yourself.

*Goes and plays Pic-Dude*

Mr., er, "Of the Dragon," I am also in search of programming textbooks, for both VB6 and C++, so if you find somthing totally killer, please forward it to me.  PLEASSSSSSSEEEE!!!

I would like to suggest going to the company web site.  It may have a lot of tips for you.  It helped me some.  Also why don't you talk to that COMp. Sci. II teacher for one of the textbooks now so you don't have to wait an entire year for the class.  It's what I did for one of my science classes, also you could talk to that teacher abouit your prog problems.

Hope my advice is helpful!! Smile

These easy steps don't involve going to that, that, Library *shivers*, and you can pester a teacher incessantly  Very Happy .  Bye now.

Well, here's your solution:

1 - Bash computer with a war hammer

2 - buy new computer

3 - get cable internet

I would've rather used a bastard sword or a battle axe, but a warhammer would do the trick Razz .

Hey everybody!  I just heard of a neat place.  It's called UAT: University of Advancing Technology!  A friend and I are interested in going there. Here's the website (http://http://www.uat.edu/).  Check it out.  They have Game Programming as a major!!

Also you can get a computer for cheap if you go to an Armed Services auction or if you ask some corporations at the right time.  I know this girl who might be able to give me a hook up.  Thanx guys, though I will still use the library for getting books.  The one in Brunswick (the closest city to me) has an excellent collection.  Well, more later.  Seeya.
