Title: (no subject)
Post by: Cyrus on March 18, 2005, 11:27:13 AM
Hi everyone.

I hope that nobody minds me posting this here.
Just wanted to spread the word around a little about some things I have going on.
First off, I have redone my web site.
I hope it's a little easier to navigate now and not as hard on the eyes.
Also, I have a book coming out on April 15th.
Its a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Novel based on my RPGToolkit game.

Deceit and Conquest Volume 1: SEOR

There's also Dawn of Twilight.
Its an independent action movie that I and a group of actors made here in Texas.
Chris Chiu (of D&C the video game) does the music.
I dropped the price a little (as low as I can) so check it out if you'd like.
I make pretty much nothing off the sales... just want to get it out there.

Anyhoo...

Thanks for tolerating my shameless Plugs.

Take care eveyone.

Spyder is teh pure hypocrite.

It's obviously non-TK related advertisement. If MotD would post something like that, topic would get locked.

Not locked, but maybe moved. And yes, I treat olbies differently  Razz . MOTD is an oldbie as well though, and honestly, if anyone in the community had one of the top rated TK games, and they decided to convert it into a book, I'm more than happy to help them out in whatever way I can. Since his book is still related to the TK, there's no reason this post can't exist here Wink

It is related to TK Game, which is nowhere near TK-related.

Same way, you could make game about gerbils and then spam forums about gerbils, and it'll be TK-related.

Hypocrisy everywhere.

Post by: Spyder on March 19, 2005, 12:58:09 PM
How is a book that is based off a TK game not TK related?

The gerbils would have to be from the actual game about gerbils, and then they would in fact be TK related. They couldn't just be any old gerbil.

Anyways, I'll see if I can buy Dawn Of Twilight.

How long did it take you to make that movie? Perhaps you could make a game based on it. Even though not all games based on movies are always the best, but some are. Wink

True. Such as the newer Lord Of The Rings games, except they're based on a movie that's based on a book! Razz

Plain and simply - it's based on TK game, not toolkit.

I doubt in Cyrus books, the words "RPG Toolkit" or "RPGCode" would be mentioned throughout the main course of story.

It's like a child in Indonesia which makes a T-Shirt, it's then exported to America and worn by John Doe. Is John Doe connected with Indonesia?

Cyrus' game is built of 2 things, to simplify: Story, and TK elements. The book borrows the story, which is connected to Cyrus imagination and skill at writing, not RPG Toolkit - and not the coding, board design and runtime programs.

Well hows this then. It's my website, and I'm allowing Cyrus to post about his book wherever the hell he feels like it, because to me, it's 100% TK related. If you want to think I'm a hypocrit, or biased, or both, so be it, it's your opinion.

Post by: Trent on March 20, 2005, 01:47:55 PM
Cesque, TK games are TK related.

And since Cyrus's book is a conversion of a TK game, it is TK telated.

Thanks. Much better.

Finaly, the capitalist stopped spreading his senseless propaganda and admitted he willingly opresses the proles because he's in charge.

At least Spyder is the honest one Smile

You'd probably have to make a TK game out of it first.

I am definitely a capitalist... though I havent yet made any money at any of my personal ventures.

I encourage others in the community here to try it too.

What exactly is the problem with trying to make a little money at the thing you love? I can tell you this... If I wasn't at least trying to make money at this then my wife would have a serious problem with the whole thing. This is a very stressful and expensive hobby to undertake if there is no hope of ever recouping any form of compensation.

I actually lost money on the pre-orders too.
That was just something I wanted to offer to people that care about this project.

I'm kind of dumbfounded by the disdain for anyone that attempts to try operating a business. Its not like I'm some evil super corporation trying to take over the world with secret meetings and under-the-table deals.

I'm just trying to create something and get it into people's hands without going bankrupt.

Hey, I wear a fedora

...and I'm also a capitalist, technically; I sell CDs of my music and plan to release a book of poetry soon, and I also plan to get a d/b/a license and set up an actual company

But still, I don't oppress the proletariat, and I doubt anyone else here does

That's a capitalist-made stereotype to make them look better.

All capitalists are evil! ESPECIALLY the ones wearing the fedoras.
Title: (no subject)

Lol

Ah, but an evil capitalist utilizes certain methods to increase profit, methods such as trusts and low-wage labour in foreign countries, that hurt the job market and the economy of lower classes, thus making it difficult or even impossible for them to undertake their own free interprise, thus undermining the free market system, thus not truly being a capitalist

However, I think I overlooked the element of the fedora a bit, it could feasibly have enough effect to completely override picky and pointless semantics...
