Welcome to Dark Age Legends, chapter 10 sign ups! Chapter 10 will pick up where chapter 9 left off, but due to the break in the action, this is an excellent point to jump in if you haven?t already. If you haven?t been following the story the entire way through, don?t worry. You are not expected to read the entire RP-- just the summary and guidelines below. However, if you never played in a forum RP before (particularly this one) you may want to read a random page or two in the middle to get a sense of how everything works.
Current players: There are some rule changes this time. Look for things marked <span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span>.
Theme
A fantasy medieval type deal. Magic is encouraged. Technology should be low (but a few weird inventions are okay). Guns are permitted if you really want them, but they shouldn't be too effective.
Archives
The automatically updated <a href='http://darkagegames.net/dal/viewer.php?id=472' target='_blank'>DAL Archives</a> might be easier to read than the topic on this forum if you want look back at the story (it?s just a script that reads from the forum database and strips off all the signature, avatar clutter, etc.) This is useful if you want to save some pages to your harddrive.
Also, there's the <a href='http://darkagegames.net/dal/viewer2.php?mode=1&id=472&page=0' target='_blank'>big page</a>, which is the entire RP on one huge page (Caution, modem users! It's over 4 MB at this point.)
And don't forget <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia' target='_blank'>DALpedia</a>!
Dark Age Legends Rules v1.7
There are two types of people in the RP: characters and NPCs.
You can now have any number of active characters, just don't go overboard (or I'll do more amending!). These are your characters and your characters alone. No one can control them but you. Guidelines for creating your characters are at the end of this rule set.
NPCs
NPCs are more flexible. Often you?ll see some soldiers, villagers, monsters, or other non important characters. Generally, anyone can create and use these characters. But if someone is using a NPC in a character like fashion, it?s probably best not to control it for them. Generally NPCs die off or leave the story in some way after a few posts, so posting them on the sign-up isn?t necessary.
NPC Groups <span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span>
Large bands of NPCs with similar interests are "Groups". Some examples include the villagers of a particular town or the soldiers of an army.
Groups can be controlled en mass much like a single NPC, however much more description is expected.
Groups are SLOW. The larger the group, the slower it is. For example, a large advancing army will take several posts to arrive at its target destination. If the said army is attacking a village, the villagers will be SLOW to organize and react, unless it is made clear that they have been preparing for the attack beforehand. If another army is called in to defend the village, it will take a while to arrive, etc.
Groups will remain in context. Soldiers will very readily fight in an organized manner. Villagers will not because it is not what they specialize in. Merchants will always be interested in money and profit, etc.
Group sizes should remain reasonable. An army in the tens of thousands is very large. A hundred thousand is unfathomably huge, and would require very many posts to set up. A million will likely get you an edited post. (Heh...) Remember that this is a medieval world we're talking about, so it's not very densely populated.
Actions
Each character is limited to two "actions" per post. An action is something your character does. Some examples:
- Attacking another character
- Defending an attack
- Preparing an attack (i.e. for bigger than normal spells)
- Starting to walk/run/fly from one place to another
- Arriving on the scene
- Picking up an item
... etc. Basically use your own judgment. Conversation with other characters doesn't count (so you can talk as much as you want). This is a maximum and not a required value. Remember to keep the fluidity of the story above all else.
Note that both starting to travel to one location and arriving at a location are each considered one action, but it is a bad practice to have your character leave one area and arrive in another in the same post. See the 'travel' section below.
Charging Techniques <span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span>
An action is "charged" if it requires more than one "set up" posts to execute. Each of these posts require a description of the action charging or being set up. If a post does not contain description of the action being charged, then it does not count as charging that specific action. Furthermore, the length of (real world) time passed and the number of posts by other players in between the beginning and execution of an action have no effect on how much the action has been charged.
Basically, if a character "charges" an attack, honor that attack as more powerful than normal. This is furthered generalized by the following.
Rule of Proportional Effects / Proportional Posts
This is more of a guideline than a steadfast rule. Think about what your character is doing and how many people (other characters and NPCs) his/her action is going to affect (cause them to take an action, or make them do something completely different than what they currently are, etc.). The number of posts describing your character taking that action should be proportional to the number of people that are being affected by it.
In other words, a simple fireball attack might effect 1-3 people-- just one post for that. Some sort of shockwave might blow apart a large section of a town-- better take two or three posts, the first an elaborate description describing your character preparing the spell, the last for the character executing it. Need to rescue your friend from 30 armed NPCs? There's no way that can be done in one post. Probably should go for three or more. What your character actually does during those posts doesn't matter. He could fight through all the guards, sneak around them, prepare some elaborate plan, etc. Some sort of event that involves an entire city, say, should be detailed through probably ten or more. Some event that involves the entire planet? Probably an entire chapter.
Story events and nature of actions
As far as the story goes, anything can happen as long as it's in good taste and doesn't disrupt the flow of the RP or its medieval setting. The only restriction is that you don't control other players' characters. i.e. If you throw a fireball at someone, you let them decide whether they get hit by it or not.
Travel
Try and be realistic in the amount of time it takes to get to one place from another. You should never leave one area and arrive in the next in the same post. Places that are farther away should take more posts to get to. I'm not going to spell out the distances between each place we've been to so far, so use your own judgment.
Be descriptive! Especially when you're entering a place of your own design. Try and build off of other posters' descriptions as well. This is important, as it?s easier to tell what?s going on if you know where you?re at.
Posting
There is a limit of two ?updates? per day. An update is a post that contains any actions for any of your characters. The only exception is a post that contains only dialogue, i.e. if your character is just talking to another character.
On the other hand, try and stop in to update at least once a day!
No one-liners
No more lame one line "Character A followed Character B" posts... I mean come on. (Heh...) Let us know what they're thinking, what scenery they're looking at, or something.
Three day rule
If you are fighting someone and your opponent doesn?t post for three days, assume they were hit by your attack and knocked unconscious (heh?)
Limitations
No unbounded instant teleportation. If they have the ability, characters can only teleport for short distances, and even that should be used sparingly. No instant transmission from one place to a totally different one. And traveling at the speed of light is the same thing... so don't!
Comments
Comments not part of the flow of the RP should be made obvious by placing them in between parentheses or slashes, etc. Try and keep commenting to a minimum. Major questions should be asked on this topic, rather than in the middle of the RP.
Try and refrain from quoting other posts unless absolutely necessary, since they just look bad and disrupt the flow of the RP.
<span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span> Comment-only posts are discouraged. If you want to discuss something, post in the signup topic.
Story Integrity Guidelines
The following amendments are added to keep the basic story and RP world on track. These are mainly laws and limitations placed on the DAL universe to keep things from getting too out of hand.
Dimensions
A "dimension" is defined as any place that cannot be reached on Gaian through normal means of travel (e.g. walking, flying, etc.). Gaian itself is a dimension.
Characters cannot "control" dimensions. Dimensions cannot be destroyed, time flow cannot be changed, the fate of a dimension cannot be linked with character's life, etc.
DAL does not operate on the "infinite number of possible dimensions" idea. You know, where there's a multitude of dimensions in which random key events occurred differently in their individual timelines, so each world is slightly different from the others, but have mostly the same people in them. I just hate those kind of stories... (Heh...) There can be multiple dimensions in DAL, but each one is unique.
The "real world" doesn't exist in DAL. There's no "real world dimension", no dimension that (largely) resembles it, and no way to reference it. (Past references to the real world can simply be forgotten. I don't expect anyone to go back and change anything.)
Dimensional Travel
Each player may have his/her characters cross into another dimension only once per chapter. There can only be one crossing, and the number of characters involved does not matter. Once the crossing occurs, none of that player's characters can change dimensions until the next chapter, even if they didn't take part in the crossing. (Exceptions can be set up if need be.)
Reading
It is important to read every post of the RP since your last post, and perhaps a page or two before the current point if you're just signing up. In order to create a coherent world, we all need to know what is going on with everyone else, even if what other characters are doing on the other side of the world don?t immediately affect your own.
If you get totally lost, just ask in this topic and one of us will be happy to give you a short summary of what's going on.
Though the rules are long, they are probably not as long as the collective posts the RP receives on a good day. <span style='color:red'>Chances are if you?ve just skimmed though the above rules and jumped to this line you are not cut out for this RP.</span>
(Heh?)
Character signup
Specializations <span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span>
Characters only are allowed to have a specialization in a few areas, which will be described in the character's bio. Specializations can be very specific (e.g. "Fire Elemental Magic", "Sword Techniques"), or more broad (e.g. "Elemental Magic", "Bladed Weapons"). The broader the specialization, the less effective the character's talents should be in that area, but on the other hand, the character will have a wider variety of skills. Think of this as sort of a "class".
This is to prevent characters from suddenly using uncharacteristic abilities out of nowhere. This does not mean that characters cannot have hidden abilities, just that those abilities need to be added to the character's specialization once they come out. Try not to make the list of specializations too long or unreasonable, though.
Bio <span style='color:red'>(NEW)</span>
Continuing players: If you've participated in the RP before, update/make an article for your character in <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia' target='_blank'>DALpedia</a>, and post the LINK to it here.
New players: If this is your first time playing, post your character signup right in this thread. I'll look it over and then give you the okay to post it in DALpedia.
Include the following information in your DALpedia article/signup post:
Name:
Gender:
Race: Can be pretty much anything
Specialization(s): See above
Age:
Job:
Weapon(s): plus a description, if necessary
Alliance: Could be a kingdom, tribe, cult, etc. (or no one at all!)
Description: Physical appearance
Bio: A short background. Perhaps just his/her immediate past, but can be more in depth if you want.
Chapter 1, 2, ... , 8, 9 Bio: If your character was in any previous chapters, give a short description of what he/she did in each. You can also describe what your character did during the interludes between chapters 3-4 and 5-6 if you want.
(Updates to my characters coming soon!)
Chapter 10 begins in a week or so!
As a side note, I may be taking a break from DAL for the first half of the chapter or so. (Just too much going on.) We'll see when things start up next week, though.

Let's all welcome <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Aegidius' target='_blank'>Aegidius</a>. I thought we needed an angel, since we have like, a trillion demons.
I may have one more guy to come, but I'll more then likely wait a little bit before I rush him into the story.
-
Of course i'll have <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Nick' target='_blank'>Nick</a> return and also <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Cyan' target='_blank'>Cyan</a>
maybe even have something special for <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Calavous' target='_blank'>Calavous</a>
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Alex' target='_blank'>Alex</a> will be returning. No one else yet, though.

<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Kraig' target='_blank'>Kraig</a> and <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Shaak' target='_blank'>Shaak</a>
These are my characters and um....ner.

Also threw up articles on <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Tjed' target='_blank'>Tjed</a>, The <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Shinryuu' target='_blank'>Shinryuu</a>, and some slightly out of date bios for <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Ven' target='_blank'>Ven</a> and <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Henri' target='_blank'>Henri</a>, among some other things.
-
Heh, it's nice to see that you now have more mention of my characters in Draven's bio. Heheh. For some reason I feel honoured to have two quotes be spoken to some of my characters.
"He has a perplexing personality. Of course, he is made up of several people, some insane, some just jerks, at least one demonic entity, and several metallic weapons... don't ask..."
~Draven speaking to Roland, about Haraldur.
"Your jest is very amusing, but clearly you wouldn't want to take this little joke of yours too far, for it would be very damaging for me to mistake your jest for truth and, say, disembowel your innards and mount your head among the other... examples..."
~Draven speaking to Valos, about his attempt on turning on him.
Heheh, anyways, Ein and me should work on our new character we're working on.
EDIT: <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Roland' target='_blank'>Roland</a>
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Zion_Ultima' target='_blank'>Zion</a> and <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Xenai_Omega' target='_blank'>Xenai</a>.
I'll get Tsu and Aura later. Seijin's out for now.
It's really pathetic how I can't remember what all my guys have done. Feel free to edit their pages and refresh MY memory. Razz
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Allen' target='_blank'>Allen</a>. There's Allen's update.
I'll do Zeros' later when I have the time and I can remember some of what he did...
-
It's really pathetic how I can't remember what all my guys have done.
Not really I think it's even more pathetic how I can fully remember specifically what each and everyone of my characters have done, from the great battles to the scratching of their face, when I can't even remember to wash the dishes and do my homework.
-
Just a heads up for you all:
I've got a lot of distractions going on right now so I'm probably going to have to sit out for at least part of this chapter.
*shock!* *gasp!*
Don't worry! During my break, Dude Man will be acting as assistant-Xorlak, meaning he will be making sure things are running smoothly with friendly rule reminders, or whatever is necessary to keep up the RP.
Now I'm not going to be totally disconnected. I'll probably still be able to at least read it and maybe jump in and attack your characters with random NPCs from time to time. (Heh...) Just need a break from the epic posts and stuff. So I'll start off the chapter this weekend with a normal post, then let you guys do your thing.
-
Oh my god Xorlak, really? I don't know to say...(Okay I already knew.)
But yeah, I rule so much. Seriously, they should build a huge statue of me outside a church. So yeah I'll be sure to make sure nobody messes up the RP anymore then it already is.
-
Hmph.
You just keep bragging, DM.
Just keep bragging.
God sees all.
That's right.
You just keep bragging.
-
Ein god sees all? I never knew...I thought DM was just trying to gloat to us...
-
I regret that I will, unfortunately, only be able to get involved in the RP from late August onwards. The reason for this is that on the 26th of this month I am going to Sweden on a course on Manned Space Flight, in Kiruna in the far North of Sweden (Lappland, yay!), organised by Umea University and Lulea University. I do not know if I will have internet access, and, if I do, I will likely be distracted by happenings in Sweden (who knows? I might get laid. Nah... not going to happen) and probably a lot of wikipedia surfing related to my course.
So, for the first 3-4 weeks Haraldur, Tesla, Durruti and Makhno will be out of action. During this time Haraldur will be, as a spirit, advancing the revolution in Hell by going to different market places in different areas of the vast place that is Hell and trying to convince the inhabitants of his ideas (sorry, Dude Man, the idea which we discussed will have to delayed for a few weeks). The other three will be going to the continent of Amantan, in the far South of Gaian, which is currently ruled by a repressive Empire, the Zhao Chin Empire, in the mould of the ancient Gaian Empire, ruled by a God Emporer, Pu Yin Tao, but mostly by his Grand Vizier Mao Tien, who reside in the Secret City, a complex of tunnels and caverns beneath the capital city of Li Tze, which is lit by a million candles and by light shafts.
The majority of the population are peasant who farm in vast paddy fields growing rice, for the most part, living in villages, all of which have a large police/army presence (army=police), who control completely the lives of the villagers, and any dissent results in execution. All magic users are called to the Emporer's court and are forced to do services for the Emporer (otherwise, another few mages will kill them). Religion here is mostly praying to a statue of the current Emporer in the hope that he will grant rains (of course, this has no effect of whether rains come or not).
In the cities, society is highly stratified. You have the plebians, normal people, who own shops or workshops, or work in factories. Then you have the slaves, below them, who either work for those higher in society, ord o the worst jobs in the factory, or work in the dreaded silver mines, or any other mine for that matter, hence working for high society is the hope of any slave. Every once in a while, a slae might be freed by his/her master, in which case s/he becomes a free(wo)man, on the lower end of Plebian society. All the higher ranks in the stratification are part of the army (which as mentioned also act as police force), and correspond to the ranks in a normal army. Just above the plebians you have normal footsoldiers (spear, sword, armour, feather in helmet, follow orders, you know), and just a little above them you have squad leaders (seargents, corporals etc.). Then there is another big jump into the officer class, the highest of whom is the God Emporer himself, and then the Vizier. The mages mentioned above are effectively slaves.
Demographics: 40% peasant, 20% plebian, 30% slave, 9% foot soldier, 1% officer class.
Foreign relations: There is no foreign contact. Anyone who lands in the Zhao Chin Empire without a permit is executed by the army. This is so that the slaves, plebians and peasants do not know anything different to the world they inhabit: Zhao Chin.
Again, please, noone get involved in Amantan and Zhao Chin.
In the meantime, Dude Man and Ein, please make sure the Aspyes do not get hammered too much. Wink
-
Hope you have fun Haraldur. See you in a few weeks I suppose.
*adds Amantan to wiki*
Well since two of the major parties will be, for the most part, gone, perhaps that only leaves the Kandarinian Souvereignity, as our "bad guys" Wink .
-
Xorlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak... c'mon, a week passed. Start already!!! >.<
-
I updated the <a href='http://http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Gaian' target='_blank'>Gaian</a> page.
I'm working on Zeros' now.
-
Very good. Now all we need is a complete world map.
-
Heh, we'll never have a complete map because there's no limit on how many new lands can be added (assuming goes out of countrol, that is. Heh...)
Xorlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak... c'mon, a week passed. Start already!!! >.<
It won't be a full week for another couple of hours or so!
Bah, I was going to do a nice long intro post, but I think I just do something short...
Again, please, noone get involved in Amantan and Zhao Chin.
Then why give us all these juicy details now? (Heh...)
Have fun on your trip!
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Tsu_Nami' target='_blank'>Tsu</a> and <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Aura_Hikari' target='_blank'>Aura</a>.
H'okay, here I go!
-
I thought we needed this. <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Races' target='_blank'>Races</a>, so add some if needed. Maybe some info aswell. Wink
-
Did a small write up for "God" in the above list, just to correspond with the rules. (Heh...)
-
Doing Seijin's writeup will be fun.
Race: God. No, seriously. He's an actual god.
-
Well, you see then, you'd be breaking the rules. And since "true gods" are ones with no limit to their power, and Seijin does have limited power (as does everyone except for Haraldur and his characters apparently) Seijin is NOT a god.
Pwnd! Razz
By the way, I made the Imp page, it contains a little mention of the teleportation rule and explains it a bit Wink . Man, I rule almost too much... B)
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Zeros%27#Chapter_9' target='_blank'>Zeros'</a>
Everyones favorite half-demon/god is now updated.
-
Name: Ulmec
Gender: Male
Race: Goblin Lord
Specialization(s): Using his moistured skin, the goblin just like all other goblins, can slide through cracks unreachable by others, the small pin-like hairs on his skin combined with the waxy layer of oil-like supstance creates a bind which allows Ulmec to climb any surface. The Golbin was built for stealth and craftyness.
Age: 412 (young for a goblin)
Job: Hitman
Weapon(s): Chemicals,goblin-magic,Dual Scimitars,Lance, Sulpher Packs, Fire
Alliance: Goblins
Description: Sly little creature,Grennish-Brown,3-5 feet tall, hunched, dioriented face, mentally unstable
Bio: Born before men came to his lands, one of the last survivors of the attack of the great goblins city, Samstgul.
-
Zeros': Very odd, I seem to be having troubles getting on the Wiki. I'll just take your word for it, for now Zeros'. Wink
Ulmec: Welcome to DAL. Nice character by the way.
-
Welcome to DAL, Ulmec. Might want to expand on the bio a bit, though.
Rofl, Zeros', you put two http's in your address. DM, use the uber editing powers to edit one of the http's out of there, then the wiki will be accessible
-
Well, you see then, you'd be breaking the rules.
Seijin's not limited by power. He's limited by rules. Razz Real gods have rules. What if Satan and Jesus came down to Earth and had brawls every day? Huuuge disaster. Razz
-
Yeah, but Jesus and Satan aren't like those uber-gods that can do anything. I mean, gods like, well God, or Ahla(sp). He does not have rules, only the ones he makes.
Seijin would be more like one of those Greek/Norse/Egyptian gods. Like, Zeus, Isis or Odin.
By the way I did the interludes for <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Duilin' target='_blank'>Duilin</a>.
-
Hello! This RP seemed interesting, so I was wondering if I could join...
I have two characters, but only one will actualy be "active" most of the time.
1
Name: Kerig
Gender:None at this time(check bio for details)
Race: "Corrupt human"
Specialization(s): Multiracial psychology & understanding, as well as shaping of mental energies through willpower.
Age: 71
Job: Wonderer/hunter
Weapon(s): None
Alliance: Weloss only.
Description: Kerig has a bright, clear face. He has short, flowing gray hair which reaches down to the middle of his neck. He has crimson red eyes with no pupils. His ears stick out slightly more than regular human ears do. He is of average height and is somewhat underweight(skinny). He usualy wears a simple easy-to-move in long-sleeved shirt and pants. He usualy goes around with blue dragonskin gloves and brown animal hide boots.
Bio: Kerig used to be a regular human child but the cruelty of the people in his hometown made him abandon his family and run away into the wilderness. He soon encountered Weloss, with whom he forged a bond for their mutual benefit. In the process of having Weloss bond with him, his physics got somewhat changed due to the overflowing spiritual energies. He stopped aging but became rather fragile. He also lost any signs of his previus boyhood. Since then he travels the lands with Weloss, doing some just for the sake of travel rather than questing for something.
2
Name: Weloss
Gender:N/A
Race: Spiritual Entity
Specialization(s): Tweakage of/with spirits and souls.
Age: N/A
Job: None
Weapon(s): None
Alliance: Kerig only.
Description: To one who can see spirits, Weloss will appear as a big, humanoid and muscular demon with scorched black flaming skin, two horns, shiney red eyes and no legs, as if just erupting from a puddle of blackness on the floor. Weloss doesn't actualy have a physical body.
Bio: Weloss has never been born or created. He existed since forever.
He, however, lacks the ability to keep long-term memories. Instinctivly, he has the ability to "bond" with a living soul, transmitting his vast amounts of spiritual force to them and sharing the mind of their "bond partner". With no such bond Weloss lacks all power. Weloss is also able to take control of the body of his "bond partner" when needed be, and is also able to forcefully draw out powers hidden within spirits. Since he lacks physical eyes or ears, he is only able to see the spiritual phase of things and only hears thoughts(therefore he speaks by "transmitting" thoughts, though it's sometimes hard to tell if one is thinking by themselvs or being talked to).
There, I hope it's good enough...
Umm...Can someone please provide me with a brief summary of recent events, please?
-
Very interesting! Welcome to the RP, let's hope that our Great Lord Moderator DudeMan approves your characters... *shrug* He probably will, but oh well.
Anyways, here's what's been happening: right now, a bunch of people are fighting this machine thing, called Horus (one of my characters, incidentally), in this place called Bandervil. Bandervil used to be a fortress, but now it's all ruined. Parallel to this, there is a great empire-like force on a series of islands called Kandarinian Sovereignty. They are planning to... *drum roll* TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!
For a fuller thing on this rp, go <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia' target='_blank'>here</a>. Register an account there and make a page for your character. We've all got one. You can also go to the characters page and read up on some of the people that post here. I believe it also has a short summary of the RP so far somewhere.
Anyways, welcome to the RP. Enjoy.
-
Thanks...
I haven't RPed for a whole two years though. I wonder how rusty I'v become...
Oh, and I'm kind of confused with editing the pages in that place there.
All I can do is mimic existing pages...
-
That's fine. If your pages turn out to be to messy I or another person can fix them up, for you.
But yes, your new characters are quite creative. Weloss seems to be very similar to a "Spirit Demon" that I had in previous chapters. And the name Kerig is similar to the name Kraig, but that's totally fine. Just as long as we don't have people with the same names and all, then it would just get confusing. But I like your characters.
So yes, welcome to the RP, feel free to jump in whenever you wish.
-
Hah, I did the same thing - i just copied off a page and edited the data for my characters. In fact, I still do that! Smile
-
welcome to this rp.......
Kandarinian Sovereignty will rule the world.....oh did i say that out loud?
-
Ein: Heh, so do I. Yet I probably could do it all myself.
Burton: No, you just typed it. Unless you're one of those weirdoes who reads what he types out loud...You aren't, are you?
-
DM: sure you can control them and you can control Frenier if you want to..
-
Okay thanks.
Oh yeah, on the races page, I put down the characters of that race. I don't think I have all of them (I know for a fact that I don't have all the human characters listed but it's just too many.)
Oh by the way, if Xorlak (or somebody else) if you're not busy could you do the Draken page? Because I don't know most of the facts about those Drakens and all.
-
I'll do a write up for the Drakens eventually. Can't give away too much, though, since we can't have any DA3 spoilers. (Heh...)
-
Did I overlook something? I'v re-read everything since my last post and I don't remember anything close to Rink getting blasted.
-
Jenia: Kerig was shot at, by Horus. It was a huge blast and Rink was right next to him so obviously he would have gotten harmed.
Xor Guy: Ha ha. All right then, sounds good.
-
But Kerig reverted that whatever and the reversion was acknowledged by D.Ein...
-
Bleh, ignore the Rink getting harmed part then. I'll think twice next time before missing a day and then posting at 2:00 in the morning.
-
Yay, the misunderstanding is over! Yay! Hurrah (etc etc)
Now to wait until Rink...Does something!
-
Arg, where is Trent. It's been three days since he posted. I can't have Duilin arrive at the village before Zion does, because he's following him!
-
Hmm, it seems on the Wiki that
I we almost have information on all the characters on the list. In fact we only have one current character on this list that is still blank. <span style='font-size:5pt;line-height:100%'>Mugen Seijin.</span>
Anyways, why don't you guys do some work. I'll probably do Nagash and Tsar since I know Cyber Wolf and Cesque won't.

Introducing miss Nanaya ^.^
-
I already changed it!!
-
I'm pretty positive he isn't coming back. Call me a pessimist.
-
who? Your pessimist.
-
My pessimist? Razz
I was talking about camishio or whatever his name is spelled.
oh and Burton, what were you talking about when you said "I already changed it!"
-
I already changed it!!
Changed what? What are you talking about?
-
The damn scopion post!
-
Sigh. Horus keeps growing and growing... first he was 8 feet, then 16 feet, now i put him down as "around 20 feet tall"...
-
When I last read Horus' description, it was 16 feet, and Draven observed that by guessing he was around 15 feet tall. Now is he going to notice this size increase or was it just a bad guess? (Heh...)
-
It was a bad guess by both Draven and me. Sorry. Lol.
-
Has anyone else noticed that lately my posts are freakishly long?
-
Yes, I have. I actually envy that. That long ass post I made wasn't that long really, considering I wrote the flashback part, a few weeks before I even made that post. Heh.
-
Ya and mine are small. Soon school will build my vocabulary back and after I starting writing again.
-
Burton, if you have MS Word, just paste your posts in there before posting, and get it to correct your errors in there. That's what DM does, and me, i'm just naturally good at spelling... and also very full of myself Smile
Although I did misspell sovereignty for like half a chapter... i thought it was souvereignity... but hey, it's a pretty damn hard word
-
ok I Don't have word I have this other thing. I have a virus that make my computer move slow it takes like 10 minutes until stuff opens.
-
Well if you have a virus maybe you should get rid of it. A computer is very dangerous if you have a virus. Like if you upload a file to the web, that virus could attach onto that file and then if somebody downloaded it, then they could get infected with it, if they don't have any anti-virus software. Anti-Virus software is really a priority to have.
-
Its praticaly gone, It's just that is still slow and I still get pop ups.
-
(I'm new and) Here's my character:
Name: Soadakke Rhobieges (pronounced: Shoh-Dahk - Roh-Bi-Juhs)
Gender: Male
Race: Half human, half angel.
Specialization(s): Knight-style swordsmanship.
Age: 17
Job: Restoring his rightful rule to his land.
Weapon(s): A short sword.
Alliance: None.
Description: Soadakke looks like a human. The only difference is that he has hidden wings on (or more like inside) his back. He cannot move them at all. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a royal battle armor, covered with a brown leather cloth, and long-sleeved brown leather pants.
Bio: Soadakke was a prince. His kingdom was conquered by a bigger kingdom and he was the only royal family member who managed to escape the palace. He decided to stay in the capital and see whether the citizens like the new king.
The taxes were raised and nobody was permitted to leave or enter the kingdom; the citizens protested and refused to pay the taxes, but it didn't help. Soadakke then left the capital and headed (to?) south; he hoped to find people who can help him restore his rule to his land.
-
Interesting character. Welcome to the RP. Just in case you don't know, we have already started and you're welcome to jump in whenever you wish.
-
Is <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Soadakke' target='_blank'>Soadakke</a> OK?
-
Hello
Tommy Mr.Tamuy Dr.Eams!
Hurry up and jump in XD Not that I'm rushing you or anything. You'll probably only make your first post this saturday's afternoon/evening...
-
I've also got a friend coming in... Xorlak, we aren't crowding anything, are we? I mean, the more the merrier...
-
So where are all these people coming from, anyway? (Heh...)
This is fine. The quality of writing has syrocketed the past two chapters. Welcome, all!
Dr Eams: Looks good, welcome to the RP!
-
ya i got ulmec lol he probally won't post for a long while hes busy with call of duty......
-
Can someone please give me a summary of what's going on? I just don't know where and how to jump in...
-
Gladly. Okay so the major parties right now are:
Zeros', Duilin, Zion, Xenai, Aegidius and Rink, who are a bit outside Bandervil. They are following...
Draven, Horus, Kerig and an invisible spirit named Weloss who are trying to find some secret area that apparently Horus was created at.
Aura and Tsu, who left this town that has just been destroyed and found another quiet little village and are resting there.
Ein, Marshall and Alex, who are at the northern shorelines, near by a village that is soon be taken over by the Kandarin. They are split apart right now, but not to far away, Alex is fishing at a near by river, Ein is sitting on a rock a bit further away and Marshall is guarding their little camp.
There is a person who is assuming the name of Afelan who has been assigned to kill Ein. Afelan is currently trying to fight Ein.
Nick, who is patiently standing in the middle of the destroyed city that Aura and Tsu were previously at.
There are also a couple other groups, but they are at secret and private locations and it's best not to get involved with them just yet.
The main story is that the Kandarin are conquering many parts of the Dark Continent. There is also apparently some secret area that creates deadly life-like machines (robots I guess), Draven is trying to find that right now.
Draven's Crimson Empire used to be very large, however it was nearly wiped out by the Grey Empire in Chapter 8 and 9. The Grey Empire was ultimately defeated by the Aspyes at the end of Chapter 9.
Quite secretly the old Dark Empire is being rebuilt, at a secret unknown location. It could be some underground city or maybe even another dimension. (I guess that is Xorlak's way of not allowing people into that location uninvited.)
(Did I miss anything important?)
If you have any questions on whom any of the named characters or locations and groups are, just check DALpedia. Most of the information on DAL, is up there.
As for how you can jump in, perhaps you could have your character be walking along and stumble across one of the groups listed.
-
Well, you didn't miss much, except for the fact that the location of Kandarin is not secret - it is a series of islands, a bit off the shore of the main continent.
Xorlak: I keep telling people about how great of a thing an RP is, and occasionally some of them ask questions. The friend I was talking about apparently had bad luck with RP's - they ended after like 3 pages of posts. I told him not to worry... heheh.
-
Unless the Kandarin made Horus and is also the domain of Retan then I did not say Kandarin was a secret location.
But yeah, I agree. Your friend has nothing to worry about. Smile

Hi!
My apologies for being so late with this
Name: Othainan
Gender: Male
Race: Morpheth
Specalizations: Shapeshifting, Kama, Flail
Age: 22
Job: Shapeshifter
Weapons: Dual Kamas, Flail
Alliance: Silent Dawn
Description: In his natural form, Othainan is small, about 4 feet tall. He is semi-transparent and when he is in deep thought he sometimes shifts into the etheral or astral realms. Wears casual clothes, nothing formal...ever. Brown hair, light blue eyes.
Bio: 5 years ago the small fishing island called Ctthulmrok by the natives, that Othainan lived on, was ravaged by a namless army. To having left the island, Othainan hadn't aquired any forms that would help him fight the army, nor had he any training with any kinds of weapons. He was forced to flee as his homeland was destroyed. With the flames of vegence burning within him, he joined the Silent Dawn with hopes of someday being able to avenge his family.

...meet Fightingfork, the friend I was buzzing about. Fork, welcome to teh forums.
Aha, that's TWO referrals now, from me. Xorlak, don't I get some sort of a coupon, like 5 dollars off the next DA game? o.O

Hola' meablo espanol' My name is spanish.
welcome!

Your pants are mine.

Welcome! Looks good.
You'll get your coupon, Ein, if they both buy DA2. (Heh...)

Ein: Ваши кальсоны моими.
......
*laughs*
-
Well, wait a gosh darn minute. I mean, if it weren't for me then Fork and Spartan wouldn't be here, since I showed Ein to this entire thing. We would also not have Dippy.
So FOUR other people are in this RP because of me. I pwn. Me > You.
Anyways, I've already thought of a new character. I'm debating with myself whether or not to jump him in yet.
EDIT: <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Count_Vandrin' target='_blank'>ZOMG TEH COUNT!</a>
-
OMFG MY FIRST SPAM POST
Bump for DM, 'cause otherwise nobody would see the new character created.
-
Awesome. A villain from Tjed. I like it!
-
Thanks Xorlak. My intro post I made for him, was probably the most well written post I've made so far.
-
Dudeman! You forgot to reply to Kerig! So very concentrated on the count, are you? Razz
-
Indeed I am. I think he's rather cool. Don't you? I can't wait to get him into action. I hope he doesn't get defeated easily. I won't let that happen anyways. Wink
But yes, I replied.
-
Dudeman and yours truly have been hard at work in DALpedia. Check out the users page, as well as the specializations. I also added some data on Kandarin, the islands that the Kandarinian Sovereignty is located on.

Storyline idea!
Okay, we've never done any sort of organized planning before, but I think this could send the RP in a fresh, exciting new direction.
The idea is, at the end of this chapter (which is still some time away) some sort of 'cataclysmic event' happens, brought on by Retan (probably preceded by some crazy epic battle). This event incapacitates/traps/seals away all or nearly all of the "good guys" for X amount of months/years. At the beginning of chapter 11, they somehow break free/return to find the world has been totally screwed up and overrun by Retan, Kronos, and their ilk. Well not necessarily totally overrun, there can be some small but dying pockets of resistance left, but basically the odds are totally against them.
So now in this new, dying, 'World of Ruin'-esqe setting, the "good guys" must fight to survive against the crushing evilness that now plagues Gaian.
How does this sound? Does anyone have any objections to this? This 'event' would still be a few weeks away, if we decide to go through with it.
-
Interesting...I actually know where to squeeze in my characters in such a situation... Ein, I believe you might like this...
Also, may I suggest that when they return, the world is not only overrrun but is still at war? Like, Retan and Kronos finally decided that "theres room for only one empire" and one has betrayed the other XD
Or maybe, you could send most of those "good guys" into another dimension, and during the entire next chapter Retan and Kronos will be fighting each other or/and random other enemies while the good guys spend their time looking for a way out.
Oh well, it's an RP. The possibilities are endless!
P.S. I think I convinced another person to join the RP.
-
Well we do have the Crimson Empire and The Kingdom Of Tjed. Perhaps they could join forces to fight Kronos and Retan?
But yeah, I actually kind of like that idea. Besides we need a fresh new story line to follow the new story line every 5 chapters rule. As long as it's not to far ahead because Vandrin needs to be alive then. I'd say maybe around 10 tops.
I'd say a good way to set this up, is after our little adventure with Horus, they could either go after Kronos and/or Retan, and perhaps have all of the 'good guys' end up in one place, and then we could have a huge brawl, and Retan and or Kronos could use his special attack thingy.
I assume by the "good guys" you are also including the Aspyes as well as the 'Romme Avengers'?
-
Eh maybe kronos and retan duke it out after deciding that retan wishes to keep all power. "Good guys" join a side and there is a war? Then we all kill each other.....scratch that last part. back to the idea.... The aspyes gather new technology old enimies become friends th world as we know it will it come to a cease? Don't miss out watch Darkage legends on Friday october 5 2006(9041)

I originally suggested the idea for Xorlak, through PM. I, however, was thinking that both Retan and Kronos take over the Crimson continent, without any quarrels in between each other. The pause in action should be sensible, I'm thinking about 5-10 years.
So, who agrees with the idea?
-
What happens afterward, e.g. if Retan and Kronos turn against each other, Romme and the Crimsons ally, etc. doesn't really matter. All of that can flow naturally from when we pick things back up in chapter 11. None of this needs to be planned.
Basically, I'm asking if everyone would like the setting change, and if most people are willing to let their characters "take a hit". (Heh...) In the new world, nations like Tjed and the Aspyes would exist in severely weakened, "struggling band of freedom fighters" type groups, if they still existed at all.
Also, Retan would cease to be a normal character, and become more of a plot device I use to direct the flow of the story, at least for a while. E.g. If Retan throws a paralizing attack at one of your characters, you play along and have your character get hit by it because you know I'm going to use it to advance the story somehow, rather than dodge. (This is a bit more than what we talked about via PM, Ein.)
DM: What I mean by the "good guys" are all the characters that would show up in two posts if someone suddenly showed up in the middle of the continent and started doing something catostropically evil. (Heh...)
We don't have to discuss how long the chapter interlude will be right now. We can do that after the chapter ends.
-

In other words, Retan effectively becomes a god Razz But that power is in good hands, so I assume you aren't going to use it for evil.
So, what you're suggesting is that during the break the world sinks into an anti-utopic setting? I like it
-
Now one thing, say if we had a long enough year interlude between chapters, like 10, Duilin would be 46. I know he does have an increased life span, and get now he looks like he is in his mid-early twenties. So if they were "frozen" would it count as them aging at all?
-
10 is a bit much. I was thinking like 1 or 2 years, but we'll see. If they're "frozen" then they wouldn't have to age.
Ein: Of course it shall be used for evil! Given the circumstances. (Heh...)
-
2 years actually sounds good.
I actually have some plans for a couple of my characters at the end of the chapter, it will involve there to be a battle(s) near the end.
If you're are just going to have him mostly be a 'symbol' afterwards perhaps it would be cool if we had him in a fight at the end (That he wins of course).
-
Yep, that's the basic idea.
-
Hello ! I'm new Smile here's my character...
( ..Is it OK ? )
Name: Tadewi
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Specializations: Shamanism and Sniping
Age: 22
Job: Healer.
Weapons: Bow & Arrows , poisonous darts & a tube thingy(to throw them).
Alliance: the Kiova tribe.
Description: She wears a gown closed tightly around her sholders, gathered and tightened under her thighs in a tapping-snake skin. Theres an armlet-like tattoo around her arm, and on her legs she wears simple sandals. She has long smooth dark-blue hair that reaches to her haunch, bright-black plush eyes hidden under long heavy eyelashes, and her tanned skin is like the brighter colors of copper.
She allways carry a small bag in her belt where she keeps her herbs, inunctions and poisonous darts. On her back she has her bow and her large arrows in a long wooden sheath.
Bio: One day she just woke up in Gaian. She couldn't remember where she came from or how did she get there... all she knew was...she's from some place else.
-
Looks good. Welcome aboard!
-
Due to the fact that I shalth be punished by the infinite wrath of Xorlak if I post this in the game, I will say this here: Trent and Dudeman, you guys can't just march into the place where Draven and Horus are pwnin' nubz. It's guarded by two gigantic 1000-ton doors, and there is NO way you could blast them open, unless you charge an attack for like 10 posts Razz In other words, you will have to either explore the rest of the facility, or just sit the battle out. The doors were mentioned in the huge post with Horus' flashback. Even he couldn't bash them open with his maul! Surprised
Lady mistery: glad to have you!
-
Ein I asked you on MSN, and you said it was fine, what we did. And now you're criticizing me on this?
Or do you mean there are another set of doors, and you are telling us NOT to do something before we do it?
But yeah, that's fine. We will explore around. Maybe some more machines might pop out and attack the intruders *hint* hint*.
-
finally......time for my busy life...
Name:Galak
Age: unkown
race: unkown
specializations: scroll magic
Description: White haircovered by a grey facecovering, red eyes, and about 5, 4 feet tall. grey clothing nothing special looks like a serf of somesort.
-
Felt like sketching <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Jayce' target='_blank'>Jayce</a> today.
(Heh...)
-
wow so that's what he looks like... I always thought of him to be all like, idk... having bulky but straight armour, and ... idk, I just thought him to be different than this... but this is awesome, cool picture
-
Oh man, that's hot!
I was thinking of sketching the rest of my characters. I drew Rink a little while ago.
-
Felt like sketching <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Jayce' target='_blank'>Jayce</a> today.
(Heh...)
...
Deja vu...?
*thinks*
...
*ponders*
...
Where have I seen this before...But...It couldn't be...Ah! Right!
Now that I compare the two, I must say that Draven and Jayce have very similiar features! Heck, if I'd see this pictures as their own case, I'd think the two to be twins!
I'm either hallucinating or Xorlak's drawing style couses meanies to look similiar, even if they are of different species.
-
You know what Jenai, I think you're right. The faces are nearly the same. Like take a look at Mortis from DA/DAX even.
They all have the same smirk and tilted brows. Yet Mortis' hair is neater then Draven's and Jayce has a bit more hair.
I noticed Jayce in DAL looks very similar to Jayce in Mystic Sword, but I think that's intentional...is it?
-
No, I think that Jayce in this case is more Asian-looking than Draven. His eyes are a bit more elongated, and overall he looks more handsome (Dudeman, whatever you were about to say, don't say it. *cough rabid squirrels cough*)
-
Yeah, that's just my style of drawing sadistic villains. (Heh...) Although I do mention a couple of times in the RP that Jayce and Draven have similar smirks.
And yes, DM is spot on. The Jayce and Retan duo are loosely based on Jayce and Xorlak from Mystic Sword.
-
I'm being draggen into a vacation, so unless I get a hotel with internet acess, I will disappear until next tuesday.
Then again, even if I get internet acess, it WILL be down on the up-and-coming "Atonament day" (look up jewish holidays if you wanna know what that is >_>)
Apologies to anyone discomforted by this.
-
Xorlak was awesome. He did awesome spells. I wish I was Xorlak. If I were Xorlak, then I'd think that if I weren't Xorlak, I'd wish I was Xorlak.
@Jenia: BAH! Way to hold up Afelan...
-
Hmm...I'm back, and nothing serious to post. I am disappointed.
-
Serious or not, once you join this forum, there is a certain... obligation... to post... yeah... You see, if you do not post, you will slow down other people's RP, and if you do that, then you will no longer be liked, or at least not as much. Heh. You don't want that, do you? OH MAN I AM SO MESSED UP.
(to the confused, i was not high while i was typing this post. Well, unless you consider umm what's it called... umm... cranberry juice a drug. And i liked the sound of typing on this keyboard, so I typed really fast for a long time.)
(heh©)
Umm yeah. So. What was I saying. Ah yes, Jenia, I was discussing your unwillingness to post here. So umm. Post now, or else i will send hitmen after you to kill you, your friends, your family, everyone else you know, your friends' friends, their friends, and so on. Wait, I guess that includes me. DAMN I like the sound of this keyboard. It's so dang loud. Yeah. Smile
So, I was going to type some more stuff just to hear myself type. Umm, I guess i will go to the off-topic forum now and spam there. Very Happy
-
Yet I would like it if people posted more. People should be allowed to take their time (except when in battle). However, people seem to be taking their time, but I thought we were going to end the chapter soon?
Well probably after this weekend things will speed up.
BTW: D. Ein if you're still there, get on MSN.
-

Unwillingness to post? YOU GUYS ARE SLOW!!! I have absolutely NUFFIN to post, therefore I am not slowing anyone down by not posting that which I cannot. All I can post are nonsensical gaidens (=Side stories) for which I'm too exhausted lately.
Also, you do realise that you are telling me that I SHOULD stop posting, right?
Tell the hitman to kill me last, BTW. I'd like to watch my family squirm a little <insert maniacaly diabolical smiley here>
-
Will do.
Also, how have you nothing to post? Afelan's story was a side one anyway, in the village, or am I mistaken?
-
No, it's all info supply. I'm waiting for EIN to come into the village. Duh.
Without me telling all I do, You guys won't know what the village/people look like.
-
EAT SIXTEEN KILOBYTES OF POST, HARALDUR!!!
Ha!! I beat Haraldur's book by *SIX* kilobytes!
Well, now that I've accomplished my long goal, I may stop posting long-ass posts. I have dominated the list in every way - both by the quantity of the posts and the title of the longest post ever. Well, not every way. Quality, of course, still belongs to Xorlak and DarkSpartan.
Anyways, if you've read my new very short post, you will notice that at the end, there's another necromancer. I won't lie, I based him off my GuildWars account. Here are a few pictures:

That's awesome Ein. That was your best post yet.
I made another long ass post. It's Numbero Five on the list. Man, the guys are going to be so pissed at the amount of reading they'll have to do. Smile
-
*Stands and applauds*
'Twas some good reading last night. Now to attempt to keep up... (Heh...)
-
Wow. He looks evil.
-
No comment on the pic.
I posted. Woo!
-
He looks rather cool Ein. I wish I were him. But I still say UGO Hero Machine pwnz. Razz
-
Been meaning to type something up for these two for a while:
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Grav' target='_blank'>Grav</a>
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Virmir' target='_blank'>Virmir</a>
-
Cool. I like these new characters. Think you could do the pages for the races? I already put them on the list. Heheh.
-
Ein, did you forget to update Ein, or were you just to tired to update him?
Wow, the above sentence doesn't sound right.
-
Yep, I've got quite a bit of background on their races too, but that'll have to wait until next weekend.
-
Hail to <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Gorus' target='_blank'>the king</a> baby! Or maybe just the new High General, but still.
-
about dms comment about Galaks army.
They've been under there for hundreds of years i think they'd have a large army ready for the rebirth of there world.
-
So what? The rules clearly state you can't make an army that size in the short amount of time.
By your logic I could have an army of eight billion teleport from an alternate dimension and claim that they have been preparing for thousands of years.
-
ill change it to like 15,000 and ein there out from underground yet. I was merly stating that they were on there way.

Welcome to DAL!
Yeah, this kid here is a good friend of mine from school. He overheard Ein and me talking about the RP and wanted to join. I gave him a bit of help and I'll continue help him out if he has any problems. Wink
-
Yeeeeeeeah! When does the chapter end and Coriko for you to join this rp you must...Bring me a bigger shrubery...Then you must chop down the largest tree in the forest with a salmon!!!!*Plays monti python music.*
-
Looks good!
-
Grr, Xorlak didn't post. I know that that time stamp says "yesterday", but that was only two hours ago. IT LIES!!!!!!
Welcome to DAL. Your dude looks ... superhero-ish.
P. S. Yeah, nice ugly avatar there, DM. Razz
-
It is from Fallout! Harry the Super Mutant! He owns!
Anyways, hopefully Coriko will have the guts to post again. He's never been on a fourm before, it took me like...all day to help him make that post.
God, I need a break. -_-
-
Sorry I haven't been around, guys. I'm going through a really hard time right now, so I need my characters to vanish mysteriously for the time being. Are you all okay with that?
-
The "event" we talked about earlier, e.g. the cataclysmic spell that incompacitates the heros for a while and ends the chapter is about to take place. Would it be all right if they just got sucked into that?
We'll be taking a decent sized break after that, given this chapter's absurd length. (Heh...)
-
this chapter was like a month long......maybe two....Im not weird i don't keep count....
-
Started July 21st, so nearly three months. Plus, most of the top 10 longest posts are from this chapter. (Heh...)
-
Something needs to be in place to explain my recent inactivity though. Ah well, do as you will.
-
Well there is a horde of lizard warriors, let's just assume they are fighting them off.
-
I BEAT HARALDUR'S POST!!!!! MWAHAHAH!!!!! TREMBLE BEFORE ME, PUNY MORTALS!!!!
Was chapter 5 longer?
-
It was longer then it was suppose to be. I think the ending was delayed two times, because we still had a lot too do, and we were even thinking of having it be the final chapter.
-
Well, that's that. Definitely the best chapter yet, in my opinion at least. Congrats, all!
I mentioned there will be a year interlude between 10 and 11 storyline wise, but that's not set in stone, so voice your opinion if you want othewise.
The chapter 10-11 break will probably be a bit longer than normal, since I managed to burn myself out again. (Heh...) Need to figure out how to stick with just one or two characters...
Was chapter 5 longer?
According to DALpedia, Chapter 9 was the longest so far, with 5 being average lengthed:
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Special:Longpages' target='_blank'>http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index...ecial:Longpages</a>
But I'm sure chapter 10 will beat it once I get it in there.
-
Yeah I did like that chapter a lot. Finally I got Duilin to be acknowled by Draven. Now you have no choice but to mention Duilin in Dravens bio! *evil laugh*
Yeah, I have no life. I already did <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Duilin' target='_blank'>Duilin</a>'s chapter 10 bio. It didn't take very long at all really. I've got a good memory for stuff like this. I've probabbly got like a zillion grammatical errors that I skipped, but that's why I got's Ein. Razz
Oh by the way Xorlak, me and Dark Spartan were just talking, and we were wondering if it would be cool if we made a little Mini-RP for DAL, which will take place right after Chapter 10. It'll mostly just tie up some loose ends a few people need or want to do and the antagonists will likely just be the Kandarin. We'll just do it in the RP section. Plus, if it turns out that it spoils some of your ideas we could always say that it's just non-cannon, and just a few selected things will go into the actual DAL story. So how about it?
-
Go for it. You can go ahead and post it right in this forum (no sense separating it).
Edit: Ha! Chapter 10 was so long, it broke mediawiki when it uploaded it. (Heh...) Anyway, it seems to have made it up properly, and it dwarfs the competition, weighing in at nearly 1MB. Interesting that chapter 5 lasted five months, but 10 lasted 3 and was over twice 5's size.
-
All right, I'll start it up depending on how many people want to participate? If we only have two people there wouldn't be much point. So how wants to participate in the lil' mini RP?
-
I would, but that would probably defeat the purpose of it being a side story. (Heh...) Plus I need a break.
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Crimson_Capital' target='_blank'>Ode to the Crimson Capital</a>, with messy sketch!
Been meaning to take that one off the top of the <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Special:Wantedpages' target='_blank'>most wanted pages</a> list for a while. Yeah, the other top ones are mine too, so I'll see if I can get around to them sometime before the next chapter. (Heh...)
-
Yeah, I swore I was about to do that one. You almost completely lost my patience for that one like with the Dark and Crimson Empire pages!
But yeah, maybe I'll do some of the most wanted list pages. I was also thinking of completing the characters page, regardless if they were made by current players (ie: Mugen and Kami-Ryu).
-
I noticed Xorlak has been doing some awesome updates to the wiki. It made me want to make a new sketch for <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Duilin' target='_blank'>Duilin</a>, so I did.
I have a suggestion actually. This one Star Wars wiki, has quite an interesting character page layout. Check <a href='http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Vader' target='_blank'>this</a> page out. I like that box they have for all the basic info. You think we should do something like that? (Fitting for DAL of course)
-
Nice sketch!
Yep, did a bunch of stuff yesterday and today, including a sketch of <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Virmir' target='_blank'>Virmir</a> (I do believe Kendo Virmir is the coolest name I ever thought up. Heh...), an article on <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Dark_Dragon' target='_blank'>Dark Dragons</a> (with Mystic Sword screenshot!) and a couple of other things. Also touched up the front page a bit.
That box thing they got going on there is perfect. I'll see if we can steal it. (Heh...) Or at least come up with something similar. They've got some kind of template thing going on that I'll need to figure out.
Spent a good amount of time yesterday seeing if we could get an automatic "featured article" of the day running on the front page like Wikipedia. No luck, though...
-
Thanks. I also did a page about <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Aura' target='_blank'>aura</a>, not the character the magic-thingy! I have no idea where to put it, since auras aren't really a specialization. Plus I noticed a big chunk of wanted pages are pages that are of incomplete names of existing pages, so what I did, is a made them redirect (ie: Tsu --> Tsu Nami).
Plus, I went diggin' in some old topics and I found some pictures for, <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Image:Gelu.gif' target='_blank'>Gelu</a>, <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Image:Scorch.gif' target='_blank'>Scorch</a>, and <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Image:Cheetah.gif' target='_blank'>Cheetah</a>!
-
Jeez, DM, way to double-post!
But yeah. All those pages are quite good. DALpedia seems to be getting a lot of action lately.
-
Nice work!
And two posts several days apart obviously doesn't count as a "double post". (Heh...)
-
Well, I've recieved critisism from DM when I did that myself. The posts were also several days apart. So there! Razz
-
Okay has anybody checked the <a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/Ogre' target='_blank'>Ogre</a> page lately? I think I've become obsessed with making new colours!
-
Heh, I like the natural skin-toned one.
-
Okay guys we've got two character pages left to do. Alpha Retan and somebody named Lodour, anybody remember a character named Lodour?
-
Alpha Retan is coming. Lodour was Montai's character, who only posted twice in the middle of chapter 1. I think he can be safely left out. (Heh...)
-
<a href='http://www.darkagegames.net/dalpedia/index.php/North_Point' target='_blank'>Drawing tablets are fun!</a>
-
Awesome, we've almost got all the important pages done.
But I've noticed a few characters have been left out despite the fact they actually made a fair appearance, perhaps I'll hunt some down.
-
Nice Xorlak, sadly I'm not going to be on as much to much studying have to get my grades up, and writing a novel for this contest.
BTW: Xorlak nice interview in the TkInformer
well i'll hopefully be back soon.
Farewell,
Burton
(for now!!)
