Post by: Dude Man on August 18, 2006, 01:20:39 AM
I thought I might start a new general topic about something. We need more topics and posts here.

I've currently been playing Doom 2 on this engine ZDoom. It's so awesome that I made a ball-stomping weapons mod for it. Here are some screenshots.

<a href='http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3053/ximzdoom1tk6.jpg' target='_blank'>Me using a riffle from the pre-released version of Doom.</a>

<a href='http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2411/ximzdoom2pi4.jpg' target='_blank'>Me in the secret level using the old Wolfenstein machinegun to pwn nazis.</a>

<a href='http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8870/ximzdoom3uf7.jpg' target='_blank'>Me using the Demonic UnMaker to kill Hans Grosse.</a>

If you played Doom 2, you should know that there are two secret levels and in one you fight the cyber demon, in my mod you fight Hans Grosse instead.

Man, I rule so much.

Anyways so what are you guys into doing right now? If it's a computer game post screeniez!

I have been playing alot of ZSNES Final Fantasy VI lately.  That's really all I've been doing - school, writing, and FFVI.  The only real screenie I have is something I found comical so I uploaded it for TKZ to enjoy. Wink

I've got the link, too, so if you would prefer the link instead of posting the image, I could do that....

I found this funny, as well as when *SPOILERS*Celes stabs Cefca on the Floating Island thingy*/SPOILERS* and he started, literally, yelling, "BitchBitchBitchBitch...." and goes on (I'm playing the uncensored, original Japanese version with a translator).

This image is not edited in the slightest bit, so I didn't add in the text or anything like that.  Anyone else that's played FF6j can back me up on that. Wink

Outside of that, I've been playing some FFX... or was.  I was just trying to be able to say I beat it.  I got to Macalania Woods and haven't played it in about two months, lol.

And the Saint's Row demo.  That game is AWESOME.  I'm purchasing that game, and FFXII for my <a href='http://www.toolkitzone.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=343564#343564' target='_blank'>birthday </a>(which happens to be today.  Yay.)

How old did you think I was?  I know I've been around forever, but believe it or not, I wasn't even at my tenth birthday when I joined RPGToolkit community. Laughing

It's awesome being an oldbie when I can't even remember being an oldbie. Razz

Ha ha, I never played that fan translated version, but I've heard of it.  As for me:

Yeah, I just discovered this GBA SP thing with Final Fantasy IV.  A pretty good remake so far, though I miss some of the FF2 SNES translation quirks.  But they left "spoony bard" in, and that's all that really matters.  (Heh...)

Meh, I have it for PS, so....  I can always get an emulator for my PSP if I wanted portable FFIV. Razz

I went and "bought" Saint's Row and Final Fantasy XII today.  They're not released yet, but I went and pre-ordered them and payed for them in full.  Saint's Row comes out in a week or so, so its not so bad, but FFXII comes out a whole 'nother month from now. Sad  That's going to take forever.... Sad

But maybe it'll give me time to finish up all the FFs I haven't beat yet, if I work fast.  I'm halfway through X and VI, and I need to beat V and II and I can say I've played all to completion.  A month, though....  It'll probably take me longer than that, but atleast II will probably be the only one I've yet to beat.

Atleast I know I'll have a copy of these surely great games when they release.  Saint's Row - I've played a demo, and it is awesome, I know I'll like it.  Unless you're opposed to GTA-like games, or that's just not your preferred genre, you should check it out.  It is awesome.  And XII got a 9.5 in PSM, so....  Unless the staff were high at the time though wrote the article, and the game really sucks (unlikely), then it's going to be awesome....

I also saw the movie "Accepted" today.  It was hilarious, I'd recommend seeing it. ^_^

I heard Snakes on a Plane wasn't any good.  I heard that the hype built it up so everyone went to see it, and it sucked.  I can't say my opinion on it, though, because I haven't seen it myself. Laughing

But Accepted I liked....  I don't think its everyone's movie though.

Oh yeah, it was terrible, they had clichés, an unnecessary sex scene, cheesy lines, plot holes (if it had a plot) and surfing at the end of the movie.

But I'll tell you; one line that Samuel L. Jackson says is worth the money to see it.

The movie was so bad that it was good. A bit like the Doom movie but on a higher level.

Well, I'm pretty sure that Dude Man was just refering to gays in a non offending way, he was just makeing a statement. And yeah..I have noticed that..but then again, I talk to one of my gay friends about once a week, and I noticed recently that he calls some guys 'little faggots' I never really got that...

Lol. It's because the words have pretty much derived two meanings since they were used as unsults so much. Well... except that "gay" now has three.

1. Original interpretation.
2. The gay meaning.
3. Derogatory or comical insult.

I feel so intellectual.

I think the word gay came from the nickname of a homosexual's boyfriend, which they called "gay friends", back then gay only meant happy. Then people just shortened it down, and called homosexuals gays.

I haven't fully checked my sources on this, but it explains quite a lot.

Xbox360=microsoft
Microsoft=suxors
Conclusion:
xbox360=suxors (yes, only because it's microsoft made)

Not that PS3 or Wii or cool or anything, but microsoft's consoles have, and will always be from my point of view-pathetic.
No, it's not because they own all or anything. It's because they do not have QUALITY PRODUCTS. Evertything burns or crashes when it's made by microsoft.

Myself, I'v recently cleared the PS2 remake of Romancing SaGa (minstrel song) and, allthough the game screams of being incomplete, it's quite pwnsome!
This is the first time I see gods personally interefering with everyday RPG battle, ecology that actually is useful, economics that actualy make sense AND a battle system with which you have to plan a different strategy for individual battles...

Still, I'm so very annoyed I cannot use sorcery and necromancy! What did I become friends with the Grim Reaper for? Sure, I sacrificed innocent lives for a ghostly weapon, but other than that... Plus, why the hell are random blacksmiths that appear on maps missing? If whoever made it would actualy bother to finish, this game would definetly be placed in my top 5 favorites.

You, Jenia, are a victim of international   <span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>BIAS.</span>

I don't get why people are so dissatisfied about Microsoft. All the things I used for it run fine for me, thus I do not complain. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Xboxes, PS's, Wiis, Nintendoes in general, etc etc etc. The only gaming solution for me is the PC.

Still, Microsoft is doing a fine job. I do not see why everyone is complaining about it. I seriously don't.

Besides, Windows has the most pirated software, so if you use anything but Windows, you will actually have to pay for your programs.

Trigunasha, when did I say an XBox 360 was a hunk o' junk?

If I had an XBox 360, then I'd probably have less or more problems in life.

Anyways, Trigun, I was referring to my REALLY shitty computer. (Because I was assuming it was a PC game)

Anyways, back on topic. I'm playing Fallout now. If you don't know what Fallout is, it's the best RPG. Period.

I beat Fallout 1, in less then a week. Very quickly, and I haven't done better. I had no trouble beating any of the bosses or big ass badies. So now I moved on to Fallout 2 I was having trouble getting it to work!

I uninstalled the game, because the game lagged every other second, I couldn't get past the first area without going insane from it freezing every time the game needed to process a command.

So I went on blaming my computer, and having my usual anger attack, until I realized that the damned CD was scratched!! I was pissed, just less at the computer and now at the fact that this CD cleaner stuff doesn't fix scratches (not that I should expect it to).

Now I'm playing the more advanced with better graphics, but not as fun, Fallout Tactics. Oh well, I haven't beaten Fallout Tactics yet, so I might as well give it a shot, it's okay I guess.

Are you deaf? Half blind? Or just plain ignorant?
I find DOS to be more reliable than windows is. I say that from my own experience. I never took a liking to Mac or Linux, they seem plain weird so I didn't try them...
But a victim of BIAS!? I don't think so. So far every product made by microsoft has dissatisfied me by over-freezing or over-bugging. Microsoft used to be good, but I think they stopped valuing quality...
Were I to be a victim of international bias, I'd have gotten Linux just for the sake of being the type of person to say "Oh look, you fools paid bill gates! Look at me! I'm a rebel!"

Besides, I, unlike many others, am WILLING to PAY for quality.

Jenia, I don't disagree that you may not have had a pleasant experience with Microsoft. Maybe you have a bad computer. Maybe they sold you a scratched disk. What I'm saying is that I am not dissatisfied with Microsoft, and I consider everyone who blindy says that "makro$oft $ux0r lol" to be a victim of the prementioned bias.
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Jenia on September 14, 2006, 09:04:16 AM
Sorry for not making it clear that I did not blindly say so.
And about the bad experience? YES. On ALL 8 HOME COMPUTERS and any public one I'v used EVER. I am not kidding.
...
Scratch that, bad experience with 7 out of 8. The 1st was scrapped after serving me well with DOS.

For example, one extremely stupid mistake since windows 98 was the removal of the MS-DOS boot! Basicly it screws up any old games, rendering them unplayable. It also prevents the computer from running at above 60% efficency, so games often freeze or have bad FPS because windows is sttempting to do useless stuff...Like update itself when I don't even have an internet connection, for instance.

I'd forgive microsoft if I'd have only seen 3 of my own computers screwed.
"It's a coincidence..." I'd say. But 7? No. No no no no no no...NO!

All the things you mentioned above can easily be fixed by tweaking the registry a little. I don't know how to do it myself, I've had it done by my dad (he finished like 20 computer-oriented universities).

And here you're talking about Win98. That's... hmm... that's kind of like comparing cavemen's axes and nukes. I mean, of course they made worse things in the past. Get XP - mine has crashed on me, oh, let's see - three times. In five years of usage. One was because of a power shortout, second was because of me overloading the computer with like 300 processes while running a game (yes, I know, I was young and foolish back then...), and third was after playing a game with a scratched disk (my compy froze).

I'd believe you if I had seen my own comp crash like... 7 times.
"It's a coincidence..." I'd say. But 3? No. No no no no no no...NO!
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Jenia on September 15, 2006, 05:27:10 AM
I AM using XP. My pop's XP freezes at least twice on a daily basis. My own freezes at least once on a weekly basis.
Besides, those "registery tweaks" you speak of are unavailable in XP. I'm not kidding...If a team of 5 programmers who are very much familiar with that kind of stuff can't do it...

I don't know how you...Oh wait, your comp has a simple comp's life. None of the super fun stuff I do. Either that or you have some kind of canadian microsoft branch which is more crash-proof.

I know for a fact that Ein plays games on his computer that I can only dream of my computer running. He uses Windows. I have computer problems, yet I also use Windows (it's Win98 but bare with me here). The reason I have issues and he doesn't is because his computer itself is better.

But really, I think maybe your problem may be not Microsoft windows, but perhaps the computer hardware itself. Perhaps you are buying computers from an unreliable company?

And also, I wanted to ask: exactly what program do you use for programming?

Well, IE is full of security holes, you should look into firefox, I use that now. Windows Media Player...? Well, unless you watch... er, for the sake of any young readers, questionable content, it should be fine. Ran well for me.

A-HAH! So you admit IE being sucky! I preffer using opera myself, since firefox seems somewhat unappealing...Not that I have anything else against it.
And windows media player one day simply stopped making sound. I had to downgrade to windows media player classic to get stuff to work again.

P.S. What does questionable content has to do with ANYTHING? Does it ruin windows media player or something?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: D. Ein on September 16, 2006, 01:19:18 AM
those types of sites typically have viruses.

And I admit IE to be sucky because I use the outdated version (you know, there's a new one, 7.0, apparently better than firefox. But it needs a genuine windows scan, and I have a... liberated copy. Razz), which was considered good at the time. Now, of course, the uberhackers who are 2 cool 4 school have exploited more holes in IE than a hooker on her body [z0mg self-contradiction], which is what makes it suck.

Another person I know nothing about.

Oh, and I finally paid attention to what Burton wrote in "Russian". None of that is even close to Russian, I've no idea what it is. What you're trying to say: "Tvoi shtany moi. Snimi tvoi shtani!"
