Title: Website Question In Firefox
Post by: Cuzit on July 25, 2007, 04:13:18 PM
This is a weird question, but it's been bothering me for some time.

In FireFox, when you try to go to the website, it comes up in a little bar on the left side of the screen, like a bookmarks bar or a framed website without the scrollbar removed, or something along those lines.  It's not that big of a deal, but it's pretty annoying.  I was just wondering what's up with this, is it going to be fixed, or am I the only one it happens to?

I don't even use Firefox, so I wouldn't know.

And please don't give me that speech on how it's better than Internet Explorer...

*prepares speech* Razz

Should I take a video, or is my description clear enough?

Well, I think I can tell what it is like from your description. But perhaps it might not be the site; perhaps you have some funky settings put up. But again, I don't use Firefox so I wouldn't really know.

I know at least one other person who posts here (D.Ein) uses Firefox, he usually comes on once or twice a day. He usually only posts in the Dark Age Legends RP, so you might want to send him a PM to catch his attention.

I'm uploading a quick video to Youtube, but the filesize might be too large, as it's taking a while to upload (and dial-up for me is a thing of the past, lol).  It's just about 20 seconds.

Anyway, Mysticsoftware is the only website this happens to, and I have NO idea why... I'm completely stumped.  I haven't bothered to check if MS uses frames, but no other frames sites do this.

Has D.Ein ever complained about it?

No he hasn't, as far as I remember. So it actually might just be you...

Maybe you using dial up might have something to do with it! Razz j/k

I'm not getting it anything like what you describe.  Although a simple screenshot would probably do.  (Heh...)

Also, what version of FireFox are you running?

Firefox 2.0.0.5 runs without any problems.

The latest version.

It might be a little bit small, but here's a video (http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht9uPLOV1pE).  Read the description on the side for my "narration."  Razz  It's not so much a narration as me trying to explain what I'm showing you, in the description.

That has actually never happened to me. You sure everything is fine with the settings?

I'm going to have to say I'm totally stumped on that one.  (Heh...)

There shouldn't be anything wrong with the settings.  I won't lie, I could be wrong, but I don't think that's the problem.  Funny thing is, Mysticsoftware is the only website - period - that this happens to.  No other website, however similar or varied in structure to MS, does this.

That's really strange. I can only suggest you delete that particular bookmark and make a new one.

If you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to the discussion, don't post.  Common sense dude.

Heh, sorry. I've just been so use to be the only other person posting on these forums, to the point where I need to say "I can't help" so people know to look elsewhere. So, normal common sense didn't apply anymore.

But now that we somewhat have more people posting, I'll keep that in mind.Wink

Well, if it interests you, Cuzit, I found the problem you were having (and maybe this will help with these things in the future). I was customizing my links, just like the ones you had on your link bar. Then I noticed that when you go into the properties of a bookmarked link (right click > properties), there's a checkmark - "Open link in sidebar". I tried checking it and it did the exact same thing that your youtube vid showed. So that's how you would fix it (just uncheck the box).
