Post by: Xorlak on January 17, 2004, 01:06:03 PM
If someone insults you, please do not insult him/her back on this (or any other, for that matter) forum.  If you really want to say something, send them a private message.  If I see an offensive message I'll delete it, so don't bother replying.

Thanks.

Since trigunasha left I do not think there has been much in the way of deliberately offending people until hoobob arrived. The problem is not swearing, but hoobob...

*Note: they are actually all on one line or all straight after eachother, I did it like this to break it up to stop it from telling me they were invalid addresses.

The idea was, I think, to get rid of hoobob and keep DarkElite, but that seems to have misfired...

i think i found the error, it happens to be that when ever i have the board's layer named, it will cause it (which will cause i problem with my board sending tactic (which i meant to ask about so here i go)

would i be able to name a board's layer 1 the board's filename (ie. castle.brd) and then extract that using the boardlayer[1] thing, and then use that to send the player?

When you opened the game for the first time in the registered version, did it auto convert your files?  If not (or it froze while doing it) try going to File -> File System -> Register File System on the menu at the top.

As for your layer question, yes that'll work.

I actually used the battle background variable (BoardBackground$) to return the player from battles, but that's basically the same thing.

Hey Xorlak, do you think it would be possible to make a Chocobo Racing style mini-game with the TK?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on January 21, 2004, 01:51:55 PM
*Off topic* What is is Chocobo Racing?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Cesque on January 21, 2004, 02:12:20 PM
Never played FFs, so you may not know... A racing, on a specific type of bird, a chocobo, usable as mount in FF world, a cross between chicken and an ostrich, propably based on some prehistoric non-flying birds like moa or diatrima.

man!!! how did xorlak make brash's hair so well? i can make it look like anything!! but yeah... the chocobo thing would possible (to my knowledge) but only if its in the normal veiwing perspective as the tk normaly is (not that weird, out of order thing in ff6 and 3)

You could do it like in asteroids when you move, except the screen moves, and you are against people in real time, but I think you would probably have to add that in as a completely seperate program which can be accessed by the game, not that I know anything about coding...

Sure, he has monopoly on rpgcode answers here. He forces us all to pay huge fees if we want to answer someone, it's 2$ per one letter of each post which is answer to rpgcode question.

Hey Xorlak, do you think it would be possible to make a Chocobo Racing style mini-game with the TK?

*needs to impose a max daily post limit*

That racing mini game in Final Fantasy 7, right?  Technically yes.  But the Toolkit doesn't handle real time processes very well, especially if they're graphic intensive.  So I'd keep it to one screen and navigate the sprites around a zoomed out track.

Daily post limit? By what will days be counted? American time? Hmm, I don't like this idea anyway.

Me likes Xorlak's idea Smile

It will keep you and Heraldur from posting so goddamn much. Maybe the forums will be more active instead of just you guys ruling here.

Shut up, Dragon's Mark! You've got more than 400 posts! Forums are to speak, and what's the problem, really? Not only you don't post much, but also try to prevent other players from doing it?!
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Mark of the Dragon on January 23, 2004, 10:16:22 AM
No, it's just that you and Heraldur do over 75% of the posting these days...it's not much of a community anymore. If you and heraldur want to talk so much, PM each other or talk to each other with AIM, ok!?!?!?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Cesque on January 23, 2004, 10:27:56 AM
No! Here is why...

1 - Open discussions can be joined by anyone. We don't discuss over matters just for ourselves, anyone can enter the discussion, like the religion discussion was joined by Dark Elite, etc...

2 - Forum is a FORUM. It's a word romans used for market, open space. Talk so much? This is what chats are for. This is forum, forum is for disputes and discussions. PMing is for personal things, not open-to-the-public. If everyone would PM each other, forums won't be forumed but PMorums (sounds senseless? it should).

Why are you offended so much? Who prevents you from speaking? You're not enforced to read this all, either.

Haraldur actually seems to post on different hour than me (good thing he propably stopped sitting on this forum all time and just pressing refresh every 3 seconds to see if there are new posts), so last time the largest discussions were between him and DarkElite...
