I just applied for an apartment yesterday, so providing I get approved, I'll finally be living on my own...yay! Anyways, there was some question on whether or not I'd be able to continue paying for the MS servers since I'd be paying nearly twice as much as I'm used to for rent. The answer is yes. I've calculated all my expenses through 2004, and providing everything goes as planned, I'll have more than enough money. Just thought I'd ease anyone's fears...if you had them Razz . Just to let everyone know, especially those that have sites hosted on MS, there will be some server additions/moves in the near future. We're increasing space while cutting costs, so it's something that should be done. The way I have things planned, we'll still be continuing hosting, but it is possible that MS and/or it's hosted sites may go down for a day or two. It's just as possible that everything will go smoothly and you won't even notice the interuption. This is going to increase our space by about 1300MBs, as well as increase our bandwidth by 80 or so GB's per month, for a mere $5 more than it's costing me now...so you can see why I'm making the switch Very Happy . A lot of you wanted to know if there was anything you could do to help out the site. Right now I'm not looking for any permanent staff, though this could change in the future. Right now we need you to think of suggestions that will make this site unique, as well as scour the net and your hard drives for resources we can use. If you like reviewing TK games like Haraldur does, then this can be very helpful as well. Although they're not all up at the moment, we have the only archive of reviews available, and its something we should definately expand on. Again, thanks for all your support. Hopefually we'll all see some good things come out of this site this year.

nice!

Good news just keeps on coming! Could there be a huge TK revival this year?
-
Hey DarkElite, I checked out your site. Front page is looking good, but none of the links work =/. Your logo's look awesome! I'd add a little more to the design of the page though. You've got no borders anywhere or anything. Oh, and make the midi optional. Although it sounds fairly good, not many people like hearing music on webpages...especially dial-up users, who have to wait for it to download.
-
Hey, Spyder, do you know that Martin is back?
-
He is!...where'd you see this!
-
Look at the Toolkit Game Reviews forum on these forums.
-
hey spyder, do you know how to script in html a pop up asking if they want the music to play? (i also dont know what to use.....ill put up some options for a poll in a minute...)
-
No, sorry I don't. Matt72186 may though. Or Mike Hill...or even maybe Xorlak... I haven't messed around with that much. I just linked to the midi's on my godivaalpha.com site as if they were pages, so if someone clicks on them, they'll play in Media Player (or whatever player they're linked to on that persons comp).
-
hmm...where did that matt go..?
-
I think it will be a good idea if you can somehow tie in all these great sites such as the rpg code shack/tk game reviews within the MS main site.... right now they are like separate sites that kind of look like they have nothing to do with MS. Just a small logo exchanged on top of each site will makes a big difference...
As for new resources and such... well, Spyder... there's not much I can do in return for your great/free hosting, but maybe I can attempt to do some exclusive graphic related tutorials for MS on perhaps a monthly basics...
-
Wow, I could really use tutorials. Thankyou Sophia!

use this darkelite
<embed src="http://www.sitename.com/d1/d2/music.wav" loop=true autoplay=false width=145 height=60></embed>
heres wqhat everything means...
www.sitename.com - your site name
d1 & d2 - your directories (i.e. the page its located on and where its located)
music.wav - the midi you want to play
there that should work...
EXAMPLE!
<embed src="http://blahblah.mysticsoftware.net/index.html/MUSIC.wav" loop=true autoplay=false width=145 height=60></embed>
-
Yep. That should do it. Sadly, it takes up a small portion of DarkElite's page. If anything, he should add it to the bottom on it's very own DivLayer.
-
yeah...i forgot to edit the width and lenght...it was just an example so...
-
I was making it clear to DarkElite, since the mediaplayer thing kinda bugs me at the top.
-
<embed src="http://blahblah.mysticsoftware.net/index.html/MUSIC.wav" loop=true autoplay=false width=145 height=60></embed>
Umm...wouldn't it be
<embed src="http://blahblah.mysticsoftware.net/music/music.wav" loop=true autoplay=false width=145 height=60>?
index.html isn't a folder, you can't store music in it Wink

Having the oportunity to host your site is payment enough! Very Happy . But I'm not going to turn you down. That would be incredible! The shack will be implemented more into MS with the new PHP site. TKGR isn't part of Mystic Software. We just host the site for Martin as an affiliate (he just recently returned to the community, if you hadn't noticed Wink ). Mystic Software has it's own reviews section in the Library. Good to see you around by the way. I here you've been busy. Are you still offering your services for tiles? Also, if you need any more hosting space, feel free to ask. I've got no problem exchanging favors B) .
-
Well, you could persuade Martin to have his site as part of MS, since I think more people know about TKGR than the reviews on MS.
-
Martin seems to be too busy at the moment to be on staff. I'd gladly give him the job if he thought he'd be online fairly often, but right now it doesn't look like that's the case. I also imagine that Martin probably want's it kept as a seperate site; and again, it's hard enough to get people to believe that the shack is part of MS...let alone get them to believe that a site that actually "was" seperate, would now be part of it.
-
I suppose you have a point there, like the RPGCode Shack problem x10.

Well it's been busy, yes... but I still take tileset orders... you just have to expect me to do it slowly... there's a section on GameStudio 43 that has all the info you need to order tiles from me... if you are interested.
As for hosting space... ha, I don't even know how much of 10 MB I have used up so far... I haven't been updating my site enough, so I think I will be ok for a while.
And the tutorials... I kind of offered it without giving it much thoughts. So I wonder if I should get a poll on what people would like me to write about... I have one or two ideas, but overall I'm pretty clueless on what I should write about.
