DarkElite: why would purple grass not be there? What do you think of the tree like things?

If you are observany, you will have noticed there is a similarity between the grass tiles in Yggdrasil: Mišgarš and in this game. Spot the similarity anyone?

This is an intersection with a signpost. The wood has no shadow.

Post by: Haraldur on March 14, 2004, 06:29:21 AM
Really? I just took my Yggdrasil: Mišgarš grass tiles, and reduced the green and increased the red and blue...

In both pictures there are 4 grass tiles. Why did you think there were eight?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: DarkElite on March 17, 2004, 06:51:27 AM
you said there werre 15 tiles in the second, so i counted every one except the grass, and then i got 7, so i subtracted from 15 and got 8

Post by: Haraldur on March 17, 2004, 12:40:03 PM
DarkElite: The trees are 4 tiles, so that leaves 11 on the second board, and 4 on the first board (as in: grass), The four normal posts are 6 tiles, with four different types of bottome two tiles, so that leaves 3... damn! I counted wrong! It is more than 15! Anyway... there are another 6 tiles on the centre signpost. 4+4+6+2+6=22 tiles... wow...

Post by: Number Eight on April 15, 2004, 08:24:20 PM
heeheehee. Funny.

BTW: Tiles are excellent, although strange! Keep up the good work. You really should start up a pixel art service.

Also, (hehe) there is a bit of other tree's roots sticking in the right shadow tile.
Title: (no subject)
Post by: DarkElite on April 15, 2004, 09:01:15 PM
he wants that....also HAraldur....is the can o' wax supposed to be a bit blurry?

this is going to be a very cool game when it comes out!  B)
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on April 16, 2004, 04:53:40 AM
It is blurry by mistake, but now it is the aura of belief, like in Terry Pratchett books and Black And White.

Number Eight: Pixel art service? Is that really necessary? Do we not have the wonderful Sophia for that? Besides, I still have to do some sprites for quoaz from last year that I have not got around to doing, and I have never done sprites before... The bit of root is from the tree itself, not from another. If you ever go into a wood or a forest there will be some trees where some of the roots stick up above ground.

Thankyou people!

Why? It's just some thing we have on member thing, it's there to remind us how much time we have on our hands. I don't see the big deal really!

My first ever sprite! Comments please.

And the template I made to make it: (http://http://haraldur.mysticsoftware.net/human%20template%201.png)

Should I do a tutorial on lifelike 64x128 sprites?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Number Eight on May 09, 2004, 02:43:00 PM
yeah, i dont believe ive ever seen any that big. but the trees are smaller than them ...lol...
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on May 09, 2004, 03:00:14 PM
That area is like a liliputian area, just not quite so small. There will be areas with bigger trees and posts etc. later on, you just happen to land in a liliputian area. You are the only person there who knows the metal object is a giant can of shoe polish because you are the only person who can see the top of it as the other people there are too short.

Maybe he's useing TK3
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Cesque on May 12, 2004, 01:21:49 AM
Yes, Halli uses tk3.  B)

Perhaps he'll use some bigger resolution for the sprites to be more visible.
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Dude Man on May 12, 2004, 07:48:33 AM
MORE visible? Your kidding, right?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on May 12, 2004, 12:12:25 PM
The resolution of the game is going to be 1024x786, so the sprite will not be too big. And I am using TK3.

Hmm, well, the template looks really good, but the character itself looks wavy. People's clothes do in fact hang straight off them Wink . I don't particularly like the color of his jacket either, and what's that red thing he's holding?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on May 16, 2004, 06:54:49 AM
It is supposed to be a mark on his clothing, the red stripe, well, red tick, It was badly done I know.

THanks about the template. That took the most time.

The sprite is supposed to represent me. At the time it was made, those were the clothes I most frequently wore.

Actually, if I can recover the files for this, I might get this going again...

Oh cool, because the game sounds interesting.

Don't worry Haraldur Burton's just some crazy kid, I can clearly tell that's a sprite of a dude.

So, Haraldur - are you actually working on it at all, or...?
Title: (no subject)
Post by: Haraldur on June 05, 2006, 01:31:10 PM
Well, I will not be abe to get the files back any time soon as they are on one of a stack of hard disks I have, but we have no desktop computers in the house, and will not be getting another one any time soon. However, when I get the files back, then I have a few interesting things to add to what I was already planning.
