my compueter is being very disagreeable to say it nicely.  That's whay i haven't been posting.  I am experincing problems with the VMM.  the puterkeeps restarting.  can anybogy help?  i will try to be in this sunday, im typing this over my friends house btw.

:blink: Who and the what now? I guess only Hardlur will understand that I guess or I don't understand that 4 some reason. I'm talking about the cough things FYI. And Hi Alien Dude. I'm not sure if YOU know this but I'm Galaton rose back from the dead by some crazy pysco knight dude and put into his body. I'm able to control him sometimes but it's really complicated most of the times....*right eye starts twiching*

if you don't need the files on your hard drive, you can boot into DOS, and fdisk the drive. Then when you go to install windows it will format the drive, and start installing.

the prob is,XP is so stupid it won let you get in to dos in anyway,all I can do is do the Shift or del into the comp settings and thats not what I need.I cant even put in any cd's or disks as the vires also got the drivers for those. <_<



I suggested to my dad putting the hard drive on a spare comp that isent used,zap the vires and reinstall from there,then put it back.

Here's how to get to DOS using WinXP...

1. get a 1.44MB floppy and put it into drive A
2. Go into My Computer
3. Right click the A: drive and select "Format"
4. Check the box that says "Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk"
5. Format the floppy disk
6. reboot your computer with the disk in the drive

the disk should force your computer to start up in real DOS mode. Use the FDISK command. Delete the primary partition, create a new partition. After this is done, insert your WinXP disk into the cd drive, take out the floppy, and reboot. When the screen that shows your Memory and drive info comes up (usually the very first screen) start hitting the ESC button repeatedly. continue hitting it until a menu pops up allowing you to select which drive to boot from. Select the CD-ROM. The WindowsXP installation should begin.

NOTE: This will only work if you have a complete version of WindowsXP on disc, or a Restore Disk (such as if you bought a manufactured computer, like a Dell); not an upgrade disk. If you have an upgarade disk, you will need to install an older version of Windows (such as Windows 98SE) before you install WindowsXP.

Heres the prob...

1.The comp wont read from the CD-ROM or Floppy so I cant do this step
2.Xp doesentn boot up,sytem Files are missing or corutpe(sp?)
3.Every thing past this doesent matter Because of prob 2

Hey guys.  guess no one has any constructive help for me  Wink . first i dont have xp i have 98.  i know....  second it will not go into dos mode or safe mode.  it's comletely annoing the the hell out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Man my friends keyboard isn't very responsoive.  third i would like my stuff still on there thannk you very much!!!!!!


spyder the scary thing is that i know exactly what you are talking about.  ive been reading a lot of comp repair books lately (well in between game playing of course) and i narrowed the problem down.  it keeps restarting because something corrupted the vmm, causing problems in the evil registry.  i just need a way to get in there in safe mode.  i need a way to re enable the f8 thingy.  please any help would be appreciated.  im going bonkers here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ive ahad a headache for 3 weeks!!!!

btw i may be getting a keyboard soon so i could write that music that everybody STILL needs.  cripes this blows!!!

hmmm..eather take the comp into the shop(Witch I'm on the verge of doing evan if my dad wont let me) or find the miricle(sp?) and use it to fix it,Then give it to me.heh heh

Well, the reply about making the disk in WinXP was for quoaz. What exactly do you plan on doing once you enter safe mode? Also, by VMM do you mean VJM? (Virtual Java Machine)? I don't know what a VMM is. I don't think F8 can be 'disabled'. Anyways, here's a link I found that will probably help you out...

It lists alternate ways to get into safe mode.

BTW, corrupt files, especially the registry, means you'll probably need to re-install Windows.

Im just going to save up for a computer of my own and start from there.  It'll take me a while, but I have to do it!!!  The only thing that sucks is that all the stuff i created is gone never to return.  Damn I had some good songs going!!!!

Spyder I wish I knew that stuff a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't know you had to hold CTRL!!!!  I COULD HAVE FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spyder by the time i was able to read that thing (the link didn't work on my friend's computer) it was a few days after my mom cleaned the HDD.  Again, Thanx for the effort.  Also I was never told about the control thing by the guy who fixes the computer usually.  Either that or i forgot...
