Dude Man, not sure where you live, but from what I remember as a kid, saying something was bogus meant it was false, a lie.

BO-GUS! It means...GOOD! EXCELLENT! UNBELIVEABLE! It's a good thing! Ever seen Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure an Bill & Ted's BOGUS Journey. It's surfer talk dude! It's my language, it goes with...Hoo-Hah! And Who's your daddy! And Hanus *bad*! And Non Hanus *good*....and quite a few others....THE END! Razz
-
look at the dictionary..bogus means unbelievable. Unbelievable in a sense that it is unreal, doesn't exist, etc.
You know the deal with Bill and Ted. They're Californian Surfers. They tend to slang words out. They use bogus in the context of being unbelievable because that's what they're adventure is all about. A time-travelling phone booth. That's unreal. That's bogus.Smile

Boguś is short for Bogumił, a polish name Laughing (as I might have said)
The female form is Bogusia, from Bogumiła.
Bogumił / Bogumiła actually mean "nice to God" in old polish.
