Come play JointOps, me darlin! Lets get to a'killin.
-
Hey Vampz...shouldn't you be posting on the secert fourm that Spyder has....He made it for the JointOps....I know of it, because I'm smart!
-
Ruggamuffin.
-
Ruggamuffin to you to Very Happy !
-
Splendidlio!
-
LOL, Splendidlio...Vampz is funny... Laughing
-
Actually the "secret forum" that you discovered is for Delta Force: Black Hawk Down....which is sort of indirectly a prequel to Joint Operations, which is also made by Novalogic. Since there was only three people in the clan, the forum isn't exactly used much...
At any rate, I installed JO, and will update and register shortly. Seems like were on at the same times in the morning (here, afternoon/evening in UK). I'm usually available weekdays from 7am until about 10am-12pm PST, which is something like 3-8pm GMT I think.
Also, do you use TeamSpeak at all?
-
Nope. I would, but I don't have a microphone...maybe I should get one so everyone can hear my incoherent midland accent.
Yeah, we seem to share online "slots". Plus, its summer holiday for me (no Uni till late September) so I can pretty much be online whenever I want.
-
I'd join JO, but I dont think this PC can handle it and I have 56k (which is sort of broken...) it connects at 40kps and below when it usually does 50.6kps and above...plus I cant be online that much anymore cause we only have one phoneline now (untill we get the other one fixed).
But right know iRO (internation Ragnarok Online) and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness will hold me over for awhile.
-
Splendidlio!
Ah-med!
I'm not gonna buy or play any JO until they add a patch giving electrical-stream-shooting weapon there.
-
Is JO free to play?
-
Free to play online - but you need to buy the game and have a recent (and good) gfx card otherwise the game will refuse to run.
-
Like I said I dont think a Radeon 9200 would run JO
-
You guys play shooters, eh? Any QuakeWorld or Doom?
-
I used to play Quake 3, but something screwed up with graphics at windows XP (and I don't have internet on win ME - I previously had 98, but there wasn't internet either) - at top brightness everything looks still dark.
So, I don't play FPPs anymore.
-
I don't play typical shooters - I let the kids play them - I'm into the 'real' environment games like Vietcong, JointOps et al.
-
I think I know what you're talking about. I watched my friend play one of those, but I forgot what it was called. I probably wouldn't be able to borrow it though, because I have this nasty habit of taking stuff to my Dad's house where it never comes out, and I have to move out of my subdivision in one month anyways.
-
BF1942 is realistic...
-
Yeah, BF1942, Vietcong (is that any good Vampz?), Joint Operations, Delta Force, DF2, DF: Black Hawk Down, Ghost Recon, and any Rainbow Six are all pretty realistic shooters. Battlefield 2's coming out soon I think.
As far as a Radeon 9200 running JO, it probably can at lower resolutions (640x480 - 1024x768) with lower detail settings. It's roughly the equivalent of a GeForceFX 5200, which my friend has, though I haven't tested JO on his computer yet. I have a GeForce4 Ti 4200 128MB, and it runs JO with no problems at 1280x1024 with all detail options at their highest (except FSAA and Ansiotropic filtering, which are both turned off).
-
Battlefield: Modern Combat (or simply Battlefield2) is first quarter 2005 I believe.
-
Well that sucks...I assumed it was coming out in the next couple of months...
-
My brothers gonna get Starwards:Battlefront for the PS2 (you can get it for XBOX, PS2 or PC) and were hoping its not Broadband only...
-
Battlefront, that's the good one right?
-
JointOps won't run at all, I repeat AT ALL, if your card doesn't support a specific requirement - pixel shading or something.
Which reminds me, I havm't played online for like 2 weeks now...I'll fit in some quality snipe time tonight Wink.
-
I was just on for an hour, but I'm heading to bed now. As far as I know, the Radeon 9200 is at least a DX8 card, which does support Pixel Shader 1.0 or something. My GF4 is only a DX8 card, and it runs the game just fine.
-
What do you play as and how you finding the maps?
I personally liked Flooded Village due to the fact I went 17-0 and 21-0 on it recently in 80 plater Advance and Secure.
-
Battlefront is LucasArts rip off of Battlefield, but it looks cool...On Wake Island (original battlefield) I was at like 121 kills and 18 deaths...gotta love sniping.
-
Man, why is your sig so damn long? Razz

*shrugs*. I wasn't paying a hell of a lot of attention to map names, etc. I just went on for a bit to try it out finally. I was playing on a server with 120+ people though. That finally slowed my video card a bit, but it was still a playable frame rate. I die a lot unfortunately, but I do quite well on Black Hawk Down, usually rank in top 5 at the end of fights, so I'm sure I'll do better once I play a bit. Jungle is a pain in the ass to fight in compared to deserts though Laughing I feel like everyone can see me; and yet I can't ever see them.
-
Man, why is your sig so damn long? Razz
Because he's "cool" B)
-
Hehe, yeah...takes some getting used to. You'll pick up your own methods to moving safely and whatnot.
Best is when night decends, you're all in the jungle and everyone has night vision...sometimes the only thing you see if the flare of a gun killing you at that instant.
Also means snipers like me are forced to go in for the kill as opposed to stalk opponents.
Yay.
-
Yeah, I play sniper quite a bit as well. Depends on the map really, but I don't think there will be a lot of urban combat in Cambodia....heh
-
In Black Hawk down, mostly what I did was annoy people by running at them with just a knife. I had like 20 something knife kills before.
-
Indonesia, Spyder, Indonesia Razz
Actually, some of the maps have huge land battles. Especially when teams work together for transport and all that so larg numbers of troops move to the same place.
TDM can get tedious, it seems Advance and Secure always has action especially with the bigger max player limit (150 not, say, 80).
-
You people must have some awesome computers. My family's unemployed, so I can't get a better computer than the one I already have. And it's not that great.
I have Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I have to run it in 512x384. The pain. It hurts.
-
My PC sucks too...well this is my moms, almost all pre-made PCs cost more then if you make one. You could probably make a better one then I have for cheaper. My mom spent like 1700 on this PC and it can only run BF on 800x600 decent.
-
Your entire family is unemployed? That's got to suck. You should get a job so you can make fun of your parents.
My computer isn't too bad. Here's a basic overview..
AMD AthlonXP 1800+ @1.63GHz (XP 2000+)
512MB PC3200 DDR @280MHz (PC2300 ...yes, it's underclocked, heh)
GeForce4 TI 4200 128MB w/VIVO @250/520Mhz
200GB hard drive
120GB hard drive
When MSI finally comes out with a Socket 939 "Mega PC", I will upgrade to a much faster computer. Even with my current "outdated" hardware, I can still play every game available at nearly their highest resolution and detail levels (without anti-aliasing or ansiotropic filtering).
-
200 GB?!?! That's way past awesome!
Here are the specs for my computer...
Intel Celeron 733mhz
128MB RAM
Nvidia Riva Tnt2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro with 32MB VRAM
10GB Hard Drive
A 52x CD Writer
My 128MB USB flash drive. ^_^
I probably wouldn't be able to get a job because my mom would have to take me there, and she can't really go anywhere because she's got cancer. My dad isn't going to drive all the way from Boone County to Kenton County to drive me to work, and with my stepdad now divorcing from Mom, I'm not gonna take the chances of bringing him near our house. I'm only 15, so I can't drive yet.
-
I got my comp in January and already it's being out-dated, hehe.
Pentium 4 @2.66ghz
512MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce (128mb)
120GB hard drive
A huge upgrade over my previous computer of...
Celeron @1ghz
128MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce (64mb)
20GB hard drive
-
NVIDIA GeForce (128mb)
Which GeForce?
I probably wouldn't be able to get a job because my mom would have to take me there
You don't have public transportation where you live?
Here are the specs of what could be my next computer. Hopefully I can start building it in the next couple months.
MSI MegaPC
AMD Athlon64 3500+
512MB Corsair PC3200 DDR (Dual Channel 2x256)
200-250GB SATA Hard Drive
8x Dual-Layer DVD/RW
ATI X800 video card. Not sure which model or how much VRAM yet, depends on how much it costs, and how much $ I have. I would get a GeForce 6800 if it didn't suck so much damn power.
-
With all the cash you spend on hardware, you could take a ncie holiday or buy a girl a fancy meal.
I think I'll let this comp last me for a couple of years...University and general life is eating away at my cash....especially since I can't lay off the CDs Wink.
-
I can't stand this old comp I have.....But it's the best I can do for now...
-

Well, this computer has lasted me a couple years already, and it's not like I'm throwing it out, I'll just have two computers Razz . I've upgraded this one in the past quite a bit, but it's still running off a 266 FSB, and I'd like something faster. When I first built this comp, I wasn't as aware of prices, and didn't have a whole lot of money either. I also built it knowing that I would probably be building a new one a few years from that time, which is why I went for fairly cheap parts, and even used old parts from my Pentium 100 (just the 30GB hard drive).
I just took a nice vacation (and will be taking another in October), and I can't get a girl to buy a fancy meal for; and even if I could, I would still have enough for that Wink. I mainly want the new one because it will be far more portable, immensely more powerful, and with all the latest technology (64bit, Socket 939, PCI Express, SATA, etc) it "should be" highly upgradeable in the coming years...knock on wood.
-
A vacation within the US doesn't count - go visit Martin in Belgium or hunt crocodiles in Aussie.
-
Actually I'd really like to go to Europe. Mainly the UK, France, Germany, and Spain, and anywhere else they have cool medieval stuff like castles, etc Razz . Not those palace-esque castles though, I mean the real ones Very Happy .
-
I probably wouldn't be able to get a job because my mom would have to take me there
You don't have public transportation where you live?
Nope.
Everything is advancing too fast. I can't comprehend how anyone keeps up with technology.
-
Scotland, man, Scotland!!!! the only place to go, well, romania too: Carpatii Meridionali, Transylvania, oh yeah... B)
Finally read all of this topic...i heard BF'42 was very cool and they were going to set up both sides and have a pk arena in the middle. I NEED to get a new comp. Got a deal from a friend, for $225 i get P4, 256 ram, 40G hdd, dvd burner and cd burner, and some custom hardware. Good deal??
yes. yes it is. B)
-
Yeah, definately sounds like a good deal AlienDude. Any idea on the video card that will come with it?
