Today marks the third anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. Post your thoughts here.
Religion is no excuse for what those people did to our country...we are free, but we can't forget the price we paid for our freedom. It is terrorist attacks like 9/11 that remind us that freedom isn't free. We take it for granted, and this is what we get. Now, our security has increased dramatically to ensure our safety, but I feel as though we have to sacrafice many things to ensure our safety...
Many thanks to the ones responsible for 9/11...now you have pissed us off, and we will hunt you down. America will not forgive, and America will not forget. We don't run...we kick ass.

I'm not defending their cause, but I have to correct your total ignorance of their beliefs.
It has nothing to do with being "free" or more financially blessed. It's to do with them feeling you break the fundamental laws of their religion and God by the way the US deals with Arab affairs and the way they live their lives.
It's nothing to do with envy or jealousy, that's a totally innaccurate and dumbfounded statement to make - of course, how would you know any better? Americans are taught to dismiss others and ask questions later.
Maybe if the US tried to understand why people are so unhappy with their handling of world affairs, they may help the international climate - instead of worsening it via it's majority of ignorant and arrogant beliefs.
And no, I am now painting all Americans in the same light, but there is a majority view here.

Yeah thats true...while I was in Conneticut (right after my fathers wake, the day before the funneral, DON'T start a discussion about it) some jackass was driving through the parking lot and almost hit me and my brother. He didn't stop or anything, he just kept going like nothing happened, and some people have the NERVE to get infront of a funneral line.

They attacked us and we attacked afganistan, thats where Osama was so it was justified. Yeah he ran, you can't call him a coward for taking on the most powerful country in the world.
The problem is that we decided to invade Iraq instead of focusing on Osama. Now we're in a pointless war in a country that hates us, we're to far in to pull out and the war in afganistan (which is still going on by the way) was quickly forgotton.
The U.S. is looking for Osama where he isn't, the guy is probably hiding in Pakistan or Iran. And our guys are dying because of a lie. Boy did we do a great job, a great job at sending our own troops to die for people who don't want them there.
God, what ignorence. The terrorists who attacked the twin towers didn't envy americans, or wanted to kill them because they had more money. Hell, i'm not even sure why they did, but I think they wanted to show americans they weren't safe (which they proved) and now we are swallowed by our own fear of attack once more.
oh, and about the decapitation. DON'T ACT LIKE HE WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO BE TAPED BEING BRUTALLY MURDERED.

The only argument I gotta make for this one is that if you loo at arabic countries now and a long time ago, they are living in shit now, and before they were a very prosperous/wealthy place. In that time period known as the dark ages where people where living in barbaric places with horrible hygeine and unfair systems, they were living in paradise. At some point in the last few thousand years the power greatly shifted. So they probably have a lot to be jelous for and vengeful, they blame whoever is biggest for their downfall, mainly western civilizations.

Yeah... umm... people die every year, and there exist plenty of days where people died in massive amounts, it doesn't make the situation any better fretting the past, I mean what's done is done, it's not like if you pray hard enough the people who died will suddenly come back to life. I know two friends who lost people close to them, an uncle and a fiance, and it was sad, but it's done, I'm sorry for them, but that doesn't mean we can't live our lives. If everyone lived in this mindset of paranoia and revenge we'd have a country filled with people like George W. Bush and Hitler.

You know what, no one give a shit whether you cut yourself or not, and I cannot respect someone who flaunts self-injury without proof. It's become such a pathetic way for people to get attention, highly overrused now. Suicide seems to be the "cool" thing among the social outcasts or the wannabe outcasts, who really don't have it all that bad in their lives, but want it to seem that way for the sympathy they get from everyone. It all seems like it's a giant contest now. If you got problems, deal with it, but don't go whining to everyone else about them, learn to make real friends, not ones that just feel sorry for you.

My step dad tried to kick my ass then I called the cops on him, he did it again, and I did the same, by the third time he stopped it because he didn't want to go to jail again. First of all, to suggest that the attacks were caused by Islam is a falsehood. Extremism and terrorism are existant among people who call themselves of any religion. Yes, there are Christian terrorists too. What about those bombings of abortion clinics? No such war happening over them.
It is possible, but not very likely, that Osama is being aided by Iran. The reason it is unlikely is: Al Qaeda is a Sunni Islam terrorist group, fundamentalist Sunnis. This means they view Shi'ite and other types of Islam as little more than infidels. Iran's theocracy is a Shia theocracy, so they would not be on the same side as Al Qaeda. Look on Sunnis as Catholics and the Shia as Protestants, as Shia Islam broke off from Sunni Islam. Or you could look at it like Orthodox Christianity. 400 years ago there were wars between Catholics and Protestants, in the same way, Al Qaeda is likely to be against the Shia too.

I'm just waging war on Afghanistan because one Afghani freak sent suicide bombers to WTC is as stupid as declaring war on a country because one of it's citizens done you something wrong. Afghani government done nothing really wrong - beside not giving a shit what happens in their own country, but that's very common nowadays.
What happens in middle east is simply beyond US conception of war: it's war of people, not government. No leader orders their people do suicide bomb others - the people do this themselves in the name of their nation, without anyone asking them for or even with government trying to force them not to do so.

I'm not western, and I don't live in a trailer. I live in the goddamn suburbs of Columbia, Maryland, and I listen to metal music. Toby Kieth is in fact one of the most hated singers in my book. Any country singer is at the bottom of my list.

I have grown very well at recognizing the line separating a masochist with a sucky life from someone who just wants attention, and MoTD seems to be the latter, he used it against Xavier when he didn't get his way trying to put on a guilt trip. I'm confident that he is one of those people who just wants attention and sympathy from others, although he is undeserving. If you're going to kill yourself do it, I've had friends that threatended it and actually did, I almost died two weeks ago when I tried.
