*cries in the corner*
I still can't use it

But it became stranger...
It still locks up whenever I test a game or program within the Toolkit. But strangely, when I ran Trans3 and selected main file to test a game manually, it worked. A few times. Then it started locking up that way too. Curiouser and curiouser.

But I'm really doubting that this is in any reasonable way the fault of the program.
I think I'm just gonna RAR all my files off of that damn machine and reformat the flippin' thing

I think that dreams work excellently as inspiration. In fact, my projects are almost entirely inspired by dreams. Granted, I dream in 3-hour long movies, complete with cinematic camera angles.

That was rather ominous

Suppose, hypothetically, I already downloaded it. What, hypothetically, then?

Shoot. Got DX 9.0c and still I can't get it to work. Oh well. I'll try 3.0.6, and I'll work on getting a new computer

Lol

Ah, but an evil capitalist utilizes certain methods to increase profit, methods such as trusts and low-wage labour in foreign countries, that hurt the job market and the economy of lower classes, thus making it difficult or even impossible for them to undertake their own free interprise, thus undermining the free market system, thus not truly being a capitalist

However, I think I overlooked the element of the fedora a bit, it could feasibly have enough effect to completely override picky and pointless semantics...

You mean the one where all the sprites were going to be pen & ink sketches? That's the really complicated one. Brutally realistic combat system, astrology, in-depth skill-based character system, items of the same name but of different craftsmanship, the most in-depth magic system ever used in an RPG (including psychokinesis, channeling, kything, geomancy, mage sight, and enchantment as skills, and spells with adjustable parameters: you can decrease casting time and/or mana usage at the cost of spell effect, or increase spell effect by increasing casting time and/or mana-usage), non-linear storyline & character dialogues, the people you hire to join your party have their own agendas (and might not be trustworthy)

---Just looking at the features, it becomes obvious that I should finish one (or five) "warm-up" projects first

The design on it is 75% done, just needs to be fleshed out some, and then of course coded

The amount of variables involved in both projects is beginning to scare me, I'm afraid it's going to slow things down too much.

BTW, where do I find these fabled TK source files? I've been looking all day

Hey, I wear a fedora

...and I'm also a capitalist, technically; I sell CDs of my music and plan to release a book of poetry soon, and I also plan to get a d/b/a license and set up an actual company

But still, I don't oppress the proletariat, and I doubt anyone else here does
Not all capitalists are evil

The computer that I need it for isn't connected to the internet, so it appears I'm going to need the redistributable DX9, 33M, and this connection disconnects randomly all the time due to some problem in the phone lines, so a 33M download is hopeless

"Nubbice"?

Funny, I thought I *had* DirectX 9.0c, turns out I don't. I must've dreamed it and got confused.

I'll try that tomorrow

Thanks, that's exactly the sort of information I wanted

TK would seem to be the way to go for the second project I mentioned. Now I just need a new computer...

I don't even know if I have problems with boards or character animations.
I tried running a test program consisting of basically a MWin and a Wait, and I don't even get to see the MWin. Just a black expanse

My comp's a piece of dung-doodle, and I'm afraid tha's all there is to it. I've noticed that there are other programs, such as Warcraft 3 & Civilization 3, that it refuses to run. I never noticed before because I had only been running MS Word, ADOM, and attempts at TK3

...... wait a second..... the programs that refuse to run.... they ALL HAVE "3" IN THE NAME! That's the problem!
LOL

I've got 2 projects in the works right now... One is on the back burner due to complexity & detail of gameplay (I've been designing the systems for over 5 years), but I'm really looking at doing it entirely in C++, in a rogue-like style

The other project is really the one I'm not sure about; it's much more of a traditional RPG, and much, much more simple, and could probably benefit from the usual RPG visual representation, sprites and boards, overhead view, whatnot. But I don't have the skills to produce the quality of sprites that I want.

Anyway, you brought something up there -- you said that the default systems are independent libraries, separate from trans3. I'm curious what exactly this entails. I mean, what does trans3 consist of now? Interpretation of rpgcode, obviously; what else?
