General Discussion / TKz is up
« on: November 03, 2007, 11:29:07 AM »
Yeah, this happened a while ago too when TKz was down. I tried to go on the site via the address bar. But it showed the gay little page about whatever... So I clicked a handy little link on dudeman's signature. And bam, I was at tkz.
Yeah, I know this doesn't fix anything, but atleast you can go to tkz!
xD

Well I see your point, but if I could just get a simple version to work (which isn't that hard.) Then I would probably be motivated enough hopefully to continue and maybe make even better versions. But, that's the thing with many games/projects. The first hump is just getting it to work. But after that it gets a little easier. And, with seeing other people I don't think that would be so hard. They could be items with fairly basic programs controlling them. As to how that program would look, I have yet to actually make one...

General Discussion / Community idea

Alright, I have a cool little idea. How about a live game/im type application. Think about it, you could logon using a pre made account (you can make an account straight off the app.) Then you can be sent to some kind of world with a custom character, filled with other users and interactable npc's (maybe you could kill them for fun xD.) There could be shops where you could buy new items with pionts from pvp battles. Also private chats and chat rooms for people who want to just talk. As you can see, the possiblities are endless. This can be done by using RPGTk 2.0 series using the multiplayer plugin.... so what do you think?

Hmmm... I am going to look into using *.gph files instead of tiles. And if it doesn't have a transparent or alpha channel, then how can you use transparency? Well... maybe you're right. But I do need to know if I am gonna write it using rpgcode. I sure wish colin would reply to this, or does he even go here?

General Discussion / Can't register at Tkz
« on: September 25, 2007, 11:08:01 AM »
About 2 years ago I tried to register an account at toolkitzone. But the email never came. I've tried about 20 more times since then with 6 different email accounts, but to no success. If it makes a difference I use aol for email. and yes I know I probably should have said something 2 years ago... but whatever.

General Discussion / An Idea/question

Well, I have recently downloaded the "Juicy" plugin for in-code tile manipulation. That way I could "mesh" armor and such on to nude characters using layers. By doing this I hoped to achieve a new level I've been wanting to do for my games. The new level being able to actually see newly equipped armor/items whatever. Pretty cool eh? not so much as that's what the "Juicy" plugin was made for. So, not exactly original. My problem is, seeing how "Juicy" was made way back in '03-'04. It doesn't work with RPGTK 3.0+ series. So pretty much is there a way to manually "mesh" tiles or just raw image data in to a tile? I don't actually care if it takes like a few seconds worth of code. So no time constraint. Or, is there a formula to convert the rgba colors in to 32-bit pixel colors? As in r!=255, g!=078, b!=000, a!=000 into 10101011 01010101 01010001 0101001011. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense becuase I don't know that much about this kind of thing.

Dark Age Games / DL compilation
« on: September 12, 2007, 09:57:45 PM »
Well as you can see I have not been here since the beginning of DAL. and i have yet to even start reading it. although i want to. I am sure others are the same way. so why not a compilation of each completed chapter w/ credits. The only reason is so you dont have to read through all those currently 380+ posts. If you want I could host all the compiled chapters on my blog. that way you could dl it or just read it. By the way my blogis dooms101.blogspot.com just wondering if I should.
I know this has nothing to do with this. butdoes anyone know of a good "The Gimp" tutorial?

Dark Age Games / Re: +'ing To Make Variables?
« on: September 12, 2007, 09:41:23 PM »
ummm.... I think I know what you are doing. But doing that gets you nowhere leave that first literal variable alone. but also have a numeric variable of the same name for a counter. so instead of that just add or subtract from potion!

General Discussion / Update! XD
« on: August 21, 2007, 02:45:19 PM »
First things first, I am working on my own game engine for my recent game project. It is fast, flexible, smooth, and if I d say so my self, one of the best out there as a stand alone engine (versus a game engine used in a released game.) I am thinking about making a editor so people can make thier character, map, and custom files for it. The editor will just make it easier. Well anyways, I am going to upload it and maybe the editor too in a week to 2 weeks. It will able you to add things like 1, live battle system or seperate CBS. 2, Interactive NPC's and "smart AI driven monsters. 3, live status bar like in zelda. But of course adding too much will slow down the engine. So I might include default features that you can mess around with. So what do you think? and, What kind of defualt features do you want me to include?

« on: August 09, 2007, 11:26:53 AM »
I had a similar problem a while ago, well first I used some kind of editor (can't remeber the name) then I tried a plugin, after much frustration I came to the conclusion Of making my own. so that's what I recommend to you, learn RPGCode and make one of your own.
I am really tight for time so I can't make you one. maybe in a while. If I do make you one It could take a week or so.

first of all, I can't say I like the defualt menu, so I highly recommend you either: A. make your own. B. have someone make one for you, or lastly C. download one from Tkz. But if you insist on using the defualt then don't be shocked if there are bugs or something you don't like.
