Not really, but hopefully that got your attention. Smile

Anyways, I've decided to attempt a "daring feat" in the use of the toolkit: making one of the first, if not THE first, online game. Now I realize, of coarse, that the ToolKit is still limited in its fuctionality, and that I may be unable to have it so you can actually SEE the other players (though that may the whole point of an online game), I wish to at least try to get a friends list sort of thing working as well as one of those nifty, auto-updating highscore charts (those familiar with RS will know exactly what im talking about).

In truth, I would need alot of help or suggestions to pull of this task, so if anyone knows of how to do so, should it be what I've spoken of or any other neat ideas, please by all means tell me!

(Also, if you should know of a way to pull off seeing other people playing as well, while still having the game run smoothly, tell me as well!)

Happy TKing!

Good luck with that. I'm sure the other 50 people who wanted to do the same thing will envy you.

I'm serious, go for it.

Heh, thanks.

Anyways, just in case you need some background information on the project, it goes under the name 'Tenjiku Rounin', which is Japanese for Wandering Rounin (a lordless samurai). This plays into the gameplay because, well, your wandering! It will capture both elements of the classic RPG as well as that of a MMORPG (but without the massively Laughing ). I'm hoping to give it a RS feel, as I have rather enjoyed that game, but will hopefully add much of the Japanese culture into it (like their beliefs, everyday tasks, foods, etc.).

Hope some people can help!

EDIT:

Heres a small title screen pic. Basic and simple with a (semi) professional look:

(Keep in mind it's a JPG...)

EDIT #2:

As another quite useless yet nifty update, heres a quickly strewn together look of the site: Magic Website.
(Oh, and thanks for all your help, you guys. )

Seeing as how noone's paying attention, I'm sure noone will mind I'm double posting.

Anyways, I've been planning out how to get some of the online things to work, and I've come up with a way to at least get the 'Friends Online' list to work with the aid of that nifty FTP write/read thingy majigger.

I've also been working on the other shiney stuff, so I'll get some of that stuff out to you guys later as well.

Heh, sounds pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I've yet to mess with any of the online plugins, so I can't help you in that department. Although I'm glad to hear you're figuring some things out. Good luck!

Since this has turned into more of a game info topic, I'll move this to the general forum. (Which needs new topics like this badly. Heh...)

Whoa online TK RPG? Heh, nothing new to hear, yet since it's coming from a smarter\cooler person I believe you may be able to pull it off. I've been thinking of doing something like that, but never expected to actually do it. But it's nice to see people are trying.

I wish you the best of luck!

Alright. Well, I've made alot of progress in my work. And I realized that in order to get this stuff to work, anyone who plays must have their own sortof "Player Profile" thing. As of now, I'm not sure if I can make is so that people can make their own, so I'll get to play supreme dictator over all of you.

This really shouldn't be a problem seeming as how this is only meant to create the illusion of an online game...

EDIT:

Wow... I never actually realized how many useful tools MS has stored away. I've uncovered some cool stuff. Like that email plug-in! Hurray for bug reports in the TK!

Man, I don't even want to begin to think about how I could get a plug-in like that done.

*brains starts to sizzle*

Oh no! I thought too much!

Yar...

Anyways, does anyone know of a Read/Write Plug-in (at least read...) that actually works? Ive tried the one in the VIP Plug-in Pak and the "Never fail" Read/Write Plug-in, and neither seemed to do much other than take up space...

Progress is dead until I can find a working .txt file reader thingy. <_<

EDIT:

-But, since I'm bored and have nothing else to do right now, I've assembled a list of objectives I hope to achieve (some more plausible than others).

1. Establish Friends List/ Chat abilities.
2. Create an item trading system.
3. Direct an online battle system.

Fun stuff, huh? Also, a few more ideas I've considered are in, well... consideration! More soon to come.
