Dude Man, the program is divided into the database and the map/event editor. If your problem is that you cant select a board and a tile for the player to start on, open up the map in the map editor, change it to event mode (the cube icon), and right click the tile and select "Party Start Position."

The Database is the fun part, though Very Happy

No, the problom is, is that I go to open the program, and I get an error message.

So currently my answer to MotD's question is yes.

Ah. You don't have the RTP. You need the RTP in order to run the program.

Here's a link:

<a href='http://rpgmaker.thaiware.com/download/RTP2000.exe' target='_blank'>http://rpgmaker.thaiware.com/download/RTP2000.exe</a>

Make sure you install it in the same directory as RM2k.

Exacly how does it help with your TK projects though?

I basicly use it to quickly set up maps and cutscenes to make sure they look good before I attempt them in the Toolkit.

See, I'm making games in both the TK and in RMXP. The XP project is going ok; just having troubles finding something other than the world map to use since XP doesnt have vehicle support or the appropriate tiles built in for world maps. And there aren't many XP chipset resources yet.

As for the TK project, I'm still in the planning stages, and I'm gathering a crew around my neighborhood and the martial arts school (you'd be surprised how many people are interested in doing music or graphics.) I even have one guy BEGGING to come up with special moves for me.

The XP project is a solo project, of course. I'll take volunteers for my TK project, though.

Allright, I downloaded the thingy you gave me, MotD. And well RPG Maker is excellent. Yet! I don't find it better then the Toolkit, yet I don't find it to much worse.

So no, RPG Maker isn't that bad.

k I downloaded RMXP. Just getting used to it, but I think I have an idea for what I'll make with it. I just might not be able to put it on my site, enless I switch hosts, since Spyder probably won't let me upload an RPG Maker game.  <_<

Eh, I'm debating whether or not to try rm2k again. It is pirated software after all, and if I release a game made with it, it's sure to get tons of critism because of that fact...

If you're looking for a good game made in RPG Maker, then you should play The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone.

<a href='http://www.gamingw.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21534' target='_blank'>http://www.gamingw.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21534</a>

It's made in Rpg Maker 2003 so you'd probably need to install the RTP for that version too
