Heh. Okay, okay. I won't care if you call me DMM still, as long as eventually, it kinda fades out a little soon.  Wink

Okay sure thing DMM  Razz .

Anyways. It seems that MS is gaining a small bit of more favor, since some people are leaveing TKZ now. Don't worry Vampz, if everyone leaves TKZ for MS, then perhaps me and the others with enochlophobia will go to TKZ. Wink

People leave all the time throughout history, they leave the TK and sometimes the net hobby life. TKZ just happens to be the site. Activity is nevertheless constantly rising every month in terms of games, resources etc.

So good times for the TK...or those of us who use it Wink

you guys (except Xavier) are full of CRAP

The community is a fun place to be where you can discuss all sorts of things with people who all share some of the same interests as you do. the tkz IS THE COMMUNITY,or at least its undisputable center.if you stay here all the time without ever going to the tkz at least once in a while, you are definetly NOT part of the community, since you are not taking part in defining the user culture which inevitably guides the tk's development and survival.

And whining about the tkz being full of noobs is bullshit. The site is not a noobish place, and complaining there are too many noobs is like complaining about the rainy weather. noobs are a natural occurance and nothing can stop them.  but like the weather, they change their ways or continue on their way, either way each individual noob is only a problem for a day or two and a few of them stay as contributing members.

the overwhelming majority of tk users never visit these forums, and that is why i think it would help a lot if all but the game makers's boards and the one site admin board were removed.
Also, the game maker's boards would have direct links to the tkz and would show up as tk boards only with special icons and smaller text and minus the right hand board stats column.

Also more people use the tk than you realize.

and most people aim too high when making a game(like me) and never finish. but it doesnt mean they dont try to make tk games or suck at, because in reality they failed because they tried to hard to make up for lack of talent.

Even if they are not making games or using the tk on a regular basis, they are fun to talk to. if you made a freind while in some school club, would you stop being their freind just because they quit the club for an okay reason?

Good point, good point. I'd agree with you more if you made it lool like a more peacfull agrument, you gave. (I agree with people better if they are in a better mood, don't question that)

Yet I do have something to say to this.

The community would die without new users, the world would die without rain. But here's the thing, Dude Man, if you were to go to TKZ and post you would be the "noob". And that's where your outlook falls apart, you are the very thing at TKZ that you complain about.

Now, you'd protest claiming that you've been around longer, used the TK yada, yada, yada....but so have many of what you call "noobs". Don't you see the very reason we have problems is the shitty attitude towards new members that so called "older" members have? It's pathetic.

That is the kind of attitude I want out of the community and sadly most anti-"newbie" sentiments come from people like yourself who do nothing at all to help the Toolkit as a result. I'd almost describe such people as parasites, living off the Toolkit and killing the good things it brings.

The Toolkit was rubbish for a two year stretch with a tiny 30ish community, no new games and no new releases. Just look at how it has come along since we welcomed new users and promoted this environment. Notice how most of the recent leaders in game making and TK development are relative newbies...

Sigh.

*Points to TK Army banner on profile.

Guys, the reason I hate TKZ is not because of the thousands of n00bs there. It it because of Vampz. (or Xavier as you guys call him. Razz) He is evil! Trying to take over the community! Back when CBM was ruler, (I was lurking in the shadows back then.) things were much more peaceful then they are nowadays. No wars, no arguing, just a much nicer, more orginized community. This is accually the reason I joined the army. To make the community seem more orginized.  -_O

I may, have a hacked up arm, a knife wound in leg, a tooth chiped and a spliting head ache from haveing a rock thrown at it, But THAT HURT.

But, I hate to admit it, your accually right. I've become exactly what I didn't want to, a nooby basher.

But your wrong about the parasite, with me, I work on games, and I help others with there's sometimes.

But the fact shall still remain is that you kill the threaded fourm. So hah! Laughing

Hehe, well if a community could be succesful and grow with threaded forums then I'd have used them. But show me one, large, active and diverse community that uses threaded format.

Not even MS does Smile.

I thought it was just a joke that people came here because they "hated" the TKZ, but some of you guys are serious...  I mean, come on, it's just a website.

People spend too much time worrying about "newbies", "communities", and forums, and not enough time working on games.

OTR has alot of people aswell. Just not as much as other sites.

I just don't like PBHPB, or whatever the heck it's called. But I do like IBP, something about it, that seems more, wellcomeing. Yet it's barely even different from it at. It's odd the way my mind works, I don't even understand myself at times...

Xorlak: Go Xorlak! You like threaded, which means you're on the good side of the TK!

Dude Man: Speaking of OTR, be sure to close your eyes at my latest post at the Number Game. You might be disgusted by it. Razz

Vampz: I used to have PHPBB as my forum, by I switched to server.com a while back. I'm accually switching to Invision eventually, but Invision isn't exactly the same as PHPBB! So, you're wrong! MS does not use phpbb! So hah!

Read again, it said MS doesn't use threaded. As for Invision, it is good but it costs money ($75 or whatever) which is a high price to pay and although I have a license it would take days if not weeks to fully re-code TKZ to suit the new system. MS was lucky in that they got theirs when it was free (see the trial version at the bottom).

Threaded forums are great for small sites with a handful of new topics a week or maybe even a day, but no site which gets any decent amount of activity uses threaded. Whether it's PHPBB, IPB, YABB and the rest of them...it isn't threaded. It's easy to be organised with five people posting a day.

If TKZ used the old threaded system, every topic would be pushed off the frontpage within 6 hours and every popular topic would result in about 10 screen heights worth of post branching when browsing. It seems everyone, including most OTR people, know this...apart from some isolated people like you who think the whole thing is real.

But yes, TK Army blah blah blah, evil Vampz yada yada yada, phpbb boo hoo hoo...

...just wake me when you have something insightful to say.  Wink
