Here is my profile for Trinon. I've got the profile on toolkitzone. I just wanted some feedback here.

Graphics:

I'm using the RPG Maker XP tilesets and the shao-rmxp character sets. Here is a nice little screenshot. This particular board isn't going to be in the final version, but it's a nice little sample of what I want:

I'll skip over sound, for the person writing it hasn't given me a sample yet...

Story:

Most people know the legends of Hyrule during the time of Link I, or the Hero of Time. What most people don't know is that a side story was going on at the time. A squadron of soldiers, with the permission of their king, and their families left to find a vast land to the east. They had no proof that this land existed except for the word of a psychic, who had predicted that they would find it.

After many months of sailing, the adventurers were about to give up. But just as they were about to turn back, a small child looked over the side of the ship and saw the land. Hearing his yell, his parents quickly ran over and alerted the watchman. "Land ho!" was heard and greeted with great celebration. Almost as if their excitement sped them on, they got to the island quickly.

When they landed, they immediantly established a small town, just large enough to hold all of the occupants of the ship, and built a giant wooden wall around it. They called this city "Fort Star" in honor of the leader of the project. During the following years, Ft. Star expanded quite quickly, and before long was a large city bordering all the way from the ocean, where they had established a port, to the mountains, where they were working on tunneling through. They had found mines nearby, and had a very nice supply of materials.

When Fort Star was large enough to keep itself running without a lot of people, three groups were sent off to map the land and find places that could support towns. One group was led once again by Stargazer, the leader of the original project. This group would search the northern region. Another was led by Vagabond, one of the most trusted of Stargazer's generals. This one would search the southern reaches. And the last was led by Shurto the Wolf, as he was also greatly trusted. His group would search the center of the land.

The northern group did not find much to report back about. They continued north until they found a small gap in the mountains, just about 25 feet wide. They followed the northern river, which was frozen over, until they came to a tundra-like area. This was dangerous, and they had to get through it quickly. They moved very quickly and eventually came to the other side. Located here was a very large clearing in the snow, and to quote one of the people in the team, a "winter wonderland". This person later became one of the co-owners of the city built there.

The southern group didn't have much of a time either. They went south until they found water, then started to go east. They found a desert-like area. About two miles into the desert, they started drilling into the ground for water, found it, and built a little campsite around it. The campsite consisted of three small cabins, a well, and couple of campfire circles. After spending a night at the campsite, the group moved on. They exited the desert two days later and entered a grassland. They followed the grassland until getting to the opposite ocean. To the north, they could see a huge shadow, though nothing to cast it.

The middle group, though, found many things to speak of. They found the easiest way through the mountains. The clearing was a couple of miles wide. That is where they broke off with the southern group. They continued east and ended up in a harsh grassland. The wind here was insanely rough and it was hard to get any kind of tent up. The wind never let up, not for a moment, at least until they left the grassland. They kept walking and after a few days, the wind started to let up and the ground started softening a little bit.

The group ended up at a forest. The forest extended for miles north and south. It was very dark inside and nobody wanted to go. After a couple of contests, a small group of people were chosen. They went inside the forest for about fifty feet. One soldier started to turn around to yell out, but stopped in the middle of whatever he was going to say. He couldn't see anybody. In fact, he couldn't see out of the forest. He motioned toward the rest of his group and started walking back. They never got out.

The next day, the main group decided to try and go around. They went south about a mile, and saw a skeleton, a sword still in it's hand, next to an almost decayed corpse of an animal that the group could not identify. This strengthened their thoughts and worries about their comrade's fates. They continued south, until they came to the end of the forest three days later, then continued east.

Though the losses saddened the rest of the group, they continued on. The last thing they saw before the ocean was a large shadowed area. The funny thing about this area was that there was no object casting the large shadow. They explored this area, and eventually found a very nice place for a town. The area was on a cliff, and was big enough for a town, though who would want to live there, nobody knows.

After everybody met back up in Fort Star, they all combined their drawings and drew up a rough map of their new land. In the next few years, towns and cities were built all over Trinon. Though some were in higher quality than others, all the towns grew successfully.

Now, ten years later, a successful government has been established, and it has worked very well. Recently though, people who shouldn't know things are knowing things. Confidential things. And the government can't seem to figure out who it is.

Sure, it isn't perfect, but I'm still improving on it...

Miscellaneous(sp?):

I should also say that you will only control one character, Therin, who hails from the Forest of Death ("Aokaringa" (a working name)), and I'm modifying the Zelda real-time battle system for it.

I'm using the Spiffy Menu, which I downloaded from the main site here.

If you want any more information, just ask for it and I'll post it later, if I'm at liberty to say, that is...

Cool. If you need custom terrain graphics, let me know. I'm not that bad at it.

P.S. I voted 4 FYI.

I didn't read the entire story, but from what I read it seems quite good. The game looks as if it has potential. I like the graphics (I'm aware you didn't make them). But those are some pretty big ass sword in the screenshot there. Razz

... You should see the original story. It was about 5x longer... I was forced to shorten it because I didn't want to force anyone to read it. It was pretty crappy anyway...

Ha. I know. I may make it to where you can get one of those swords. I'm making the story spread across two games (there will be one sequel). You'll probably get the sword in the second game.

Haha. Yeah, well if Cloud Strife can do it, I guess others can. Laughing

Oh crap! I forgot to mention that all the names in this game (well, all of the important characters except for the main one) are taken from another message board I go to; TGA.

That's right! This is a community-based game! Very Happy

... And I don't know if I'm going to be keeping the psychic in the story. I was thinking Koume/Kotake, but in a recent update (extremely recent), I thought of making it just a bit different:

Quote
This being during the Imprisoning War, where Link I was trapped in the sacred realm with the Master Sword and the sage Rauru, King Daphnese Nohansen Hyrule approached Stargazer, his most trusted general, with grevious news.

He was afraid that Ganondorf would take over Hyrule and he wanted at least a piece of the legacy to live on. He asked Stargazer to take a squadron of soldiers, and their families, out onto the great seas to find a land to inhabit and colonize in Hyrule's name.

That would be the revision to the beginning, and I also wanted to make the history of Aokaringa, the Forest of Death, clear:

Quote
10 years ago, when the Hylians first reached Trinon, they found the deadly forest of Aokaringa. The search teams of men and women went in and never came back. Everybody else considered them dead. Therin's parents were two of them. They had brought him along on the scouting trip because he had refused to be seperated from them, being a normal seven year old child. When his parents went into the forest, he broke free of the person holding him and ran in after them. He caught up with them. After they finished explaining to him that it might be dangerous in the forest so he needed to stay out there, they called for the others to wait while they took Therin back outside. But when they turned to exit the forest, they couldn't find the way out. They went back and found the group and explained what had happened. What they didn't know at the time was that the forest is alive and can switch it's borders on anybody unaware of where they are. Once this was established, the searchers quickly built a small town where they could live, knowing it could be forever before they could get back out. They sent out one search team of two people, but those people never came back (and, in fact, were found on the outside of the forest the next day by the scouters, completely gutted).

Over the next few years, the forest grew to accept the people who now called themselves the 'Aokaringans'. The once-Hylians now had red eyes like Sheikah (due to being around evil for so long), could see a lot better than normal Hylians in the dark (due to being in a darker environment caused by the overhanging trees of the forest of death), and became extremely adept with swords. They also developed a new culture where, when children came of age, they would be sent into the forest for a week with enough supplies to survive. When they came back, they would have entered 'manhood'. One day, two parents, the mother crying, sent their child, Therin (our main character!) into the forest.

I think that is a pretty good summary of the evil forest. I'll have to make up something for the Shadowlands (and my character, Firestorm) now...

Edit: I'm going to move this... hopefully, it'll get more traffic in General Discusson Very Happy

This isn't so much of a bump as an update, but it is a mixture of both Razz .

I have the history of the Shadowlands. These are bits and pieces of a book written by Firestorm, a character in the game (mine). It sort of tells the known history of the Shadowlands from Firestorm's point-of-view.

Quote
The Shadowlands have been a mystery of Trinon for as long as civilization has been there. The first recordings of it came from the scouting reports when the Hylians first landed in the mysterious land. Firestorm, one of the original scouts that first saw the Shadowlands, has erected a town in the darkened place. He has also written a detailed and full (known) history on the place. Here are some pieces of the document:

"The Shadowlands" by Firestorm, mayor of New Flame (circa 2001).

"... When our group first saw the border on the horizon, we were sure we would eventually see some sort of a reason for the darkness, maybe some large construct that sat a giant shadow on the land, but our hopes were unabated, for when we approached, we saw nothing. The darkness spread as far as we could see, and spread in a circular formation, centered around a cliff, which was odd, considering that what surrounded the Shadowlands were mostly plains. In fact, the valley that spread down the center of the Shadowlands didn't seem to have a purpose, for there was no water or any other material that could explain erosion..."

"...After we returned from the scouting trip and made our report to General Stargazer, I found that my mind kept wandering to the strange land on the other side of the continent. I knew that it had to also be on the minds of all the other people on the scouting trip, for it was the only strange thing that we had found. I even consulted some of them, and my thoughts proved correct, for none of the original scouts could keep their minds off of the Shadowlands for very long. This information gladdened me immensely, for now I knew that I wasn't alone in this obscure fascination..."

"...Once a month had gone by and the strange land still filled my consciousness (and sleep), I knew I had to visit it again. I took a few carpenters to build myself a house, for I planned to live in the strange place, study it and send back results to the capitol. When the carpenters saw the strange place though, they decided that they wanted to live there as well, if only long enough to study it with me. I had no disagreement, for some company would be nice. But it eventually got out of hand. More and more people started to move into the middle of the twilight land, and at one point, chaos broke out. I knew something had to be done, so I sent a request to the King, asking for permission to name the small community we had become a town. I recieved word about a week later accepting my request. I broke the news to the (now) townspeople and they, in turn, broke out in celebration. Once it came time to pick a mayor for the town, I seemed to be a natural choice. I, in an ironic mood, dubbed the town 'New Flame'."

"... After a couple of weeks of running the new town, I knew that I had to have some sort of illuminescence(sp?) created for light, for even I was becoming tired of the constant darkness. I had also noticed more... primal emotions and feelings coming up and I started to wonder exactly why the land was so dark. I had started to worry that it was because the land was evil, and I was somehow becoming tainted... But the problem of light remained on my mind, so I summoned Trinon's brightest scientist to my darkened city and into my office. Shurto the Wolfe as he called himself was an extremely unique person, but was one of the most brilliant minds of our time. He immediantly got to work on something he named the 'light bulb'. He would shut himself in my office (yes... with my permission. I regret it now because I still can't get whatever that is off of the flooring...) where my notes on my studies were. He said he was looking for something natural that he could run his... 'light bulb' off, some sort of natural energy..."

I wrote this yesterday in a matter of... oh, one or two hours.

Nice. I would rather not post a profile until I have a reasonable amount done myself <_<;;;

I'm still in the design process of my game. No profile until I'm putting the touches on a demo Razz
