All the things you mentioned above can easily be fixed by tweaking the registry a little. I don't know how to do it myself, I've had it done by my dad (he finished like 20 computer-oriented universities).

And here you're talking about Win98. That's... hmm... that's kind of like comparing cavemen's axes and nukes. I mean, of course they made worse things in the past. Get XP - mine has crashed on me, oh, let's see - three times. In five years of usage. One was because of a power shortout, second was because of me overloading the computer with like 300 processes while running a game (yes, I know, I was young and foolish back then...), and third was after playing a game with a scratched disk (my compy froze).

I'd believe you if I had seen my own comp crash like... 7 times.
"It's a coincidence..." I'd say. But 3? No. No no no no no no...NO!

I AM using XP. My pop's XP freezes at least twice on a daily basis. My own freezes at least once on a weekly basis.
Besides, those "registery tweaks" you speak of are unavailable in XP. I'm not kidding...If a team of 5 programmers who are very much familiar with that kind of stuff can't do it...

I don't know how you...Oh wait, your comp has a simple comp's life. None of the super fun stuff I do. Either that or you have some kind of canadian microsoft branch which is more crash-proof.

I know for a fact that Ein plays games on his computer that I can only dream of my computer running. He uses Windows. I have computer problems, yet I also use Windows (it's Win98 but bare with me here). The reason I have issues and he doesn't is because his computer itself is better.

But really, I think maybe your problem may be not Microsoft windows, but perhaps the computer hardware itself. Perhaps you are buying computers from an unreliable company?

I think I know what you mean by super fun stuff... something to do with reprogramming Worm viruses, no? In that case, you shouldn't blame Microsoft at all.

There are no special Microsoft branches here, I got the most generic Windows XP Professional that the other guy has.
And also, I wanted to ask: exactly what program do you use for programming?

Actualy, no. I was reffering to my collection of emulators that bypass microsoft's stupidity, like DOSbox etc. How else am I supposed to enjoy games of old?
But the irony is that my comp usualy freezes in internet explorer or windows media player  Razz

Well, IE is full of security holes, you should look into firefox, I use that now. Windows Media Player...? Well, unless you watch... er, for the sake of any young readers, questionable content, it should be fine. Ran well for me.

A-HAH! So you admit IE being sucky! I preffer using opera myself, since firefox seems somewhat unappealing...Not that I have anything else against it.
And windows media player one day simply stopped making sound. I had to downgrade to windows media player classic to get stuff to work again.

P.S. What does questionable content has to do with ANYTHING? Does it ruin windows media player or something?

those types of sites typically have viruses.

And I admit IE to be sucky because I use the outdated version (you know, there's a new one, 7.0, apparently better than firefox. But it needs a genuine windows scan, and I have a... liberated copy. Razz), which was considered good at the time. Now, of course, the uberhackers who are 2 cool 4 school have exploited more holes in IE than a hooker on her body [z0mg self-contradiction], which is what makes it suck.

@Dude Man - Sorry, I guess I misread somewhere. Razz

I have never once had my Xbox360 crash on me like everyone says it does.  I had Saint's Row lock up on me, but I have games that lock up on me all the time, on any system.  San Andreas just loves to piss me off. Razz

Windows XP (2001)
CPU:233 MHz
RAM:64 MB(128 MB recommended)
Video:Super VGA (800 x 600) display
HDD:1.5 GB

Windows Vista (2007)
CPU:800 MHz(1 GHz recommended)
RAM:512 MB(1 GB recommended)
