Actually, I have to say that Burton improved in his grammar skills a lot. Also, DM, I agree - the dumb spambots need to die. I keep posting spam after one of them posts... man, those things are heartless. I saw some spambot go onto a thread with people grieving over the loss of a close friend, and the spambot was advertising something like luxury cruises... it's just lame... spambots need to die

yes check out this!!!!

There was a clamoring of footsteps heard throughout the agora in the village of Akeld. Van ran through an obstacle course of stalls and commoners. He knocked down a man with a thatched basket on his back as he ran by. Apples flew out of his basket and littered the slate covered streets. Oblivious to the man's yelling, he ran to the docks.
?Father ? he yelled to an elderly man nearby.
?Van  How was your journey?? the grey sailor asked. The man leaped from the boat, landing on the hard oak docks.
?Well long story...but I?ve brought you back the coin.? Van reached in his pocket and fished out some silvers coins, then showed them to his father. They walked towards a plank covered house.
?Van I want you to have this.? Van?s father placed a tarnished blade, the Fisher family heirloom, in Van?s hands. He would never know that this blade would change his life forever

Years after that day the world became war-torn, Bandits, thieves, and rouges thrived in this time. Once powerful nation became diminished and disappeared from existence. People had to become self-sufficient and lived without trade. Van?s home became a dreary port land where few commoners walked about. Van was then drafted into the army soon after the passing of his father.
Lord Edmond regretted starting the war against Crinith. Their advanced technology and tactics were to much of a match for Edmond.
?His army is small but well equipped.? a bard once told Edmond, but yet he ignored the fact.
Though the war was still raging, Lord Edmond passed down his throne to his son Jason. Lord Jason?s first assignment was to make a treaty with Crinith.
After the treaty was signed the soldiers were sent back home. Van returned to Akeld. The door screeched as it opened, leading the way into his house. His once prideful home was now a shelter for little green goblins. They were nasty little things. He left in a hurry leaving the same silver coin he left there when he was younger. Never touched nor used it would stay there until one day Van would return for it.
Van traveled to the City of Roah. Roah was one of the most unique cities. Actual ships traveled overhead with magnificent carving on the railings and stern. A purple colored stream of magical energy emanated from the stern. Van traveled along a narrow stone bridge. It had a tinted yellow color like all the stones in Roah city. Four supports held it up from the bottom of the main lands plateau. The distance from the plateau and Roah city was about a half a mile. A while went past and Van reached the gates.
?Halt state your business.? Exclaimed the guard
?I am Van Fisher, and I sadly need a place to stay.?
?Make your visit quick...? and with the guards final words the gate slowly opened. The gates were structured fantastically only able to be opened with a winding of large wooden gears. Van walked through at a paceful  strode. The streets had people sprawled in the middle in raggy clothing. There faces did not look sadistic but it had a weird mischievous smirk. Van walked underneath a large arch followed by a small flight of stairs to the next level the markets.
A store?s door slammed open as a young man was thrown out. He was around the age of fifteen. A man with a leather-padded vest walked out after the boy. He held a cruel looking club..
?What have I told you....next time I?ll bring you to the king.? he kicked the boy in the ribs. The boy winced in pain. The guard-type figure went back into the store.
?Hey are you ok?? asked Van as he walked over to the boy.
?Yeah im fine.? The boy struggled to try to get up. Van held out his hand and the boy took it.
?So what?s your name? I?m Van Fisher.?
?Im Elric, you don?t look like your from here.?
?I?m not I?m from Akeld, I came here after the war.? Van looked at the scruffy kid. Brown hair full of dirt and in a messy manner. ?Well I have to be off.? They departed in the opposite ways. Van entered an Inn not to long after his encounter. He read the large stone sign hanging on the red roof?s shingles. The sign was slanted and read ?Redwater Inn.? Van entered and sat at a table in the corner. The shadows concealed his face. He watched the faces of the people. Van folded his arms and leaned back in the chair. He waited for a bout an hour watching patrons being robbed and a familiar face. The man went to war with Van..His name was Lance Aero. General Lance Aero had a scar across his cheek, short black beard, and bushy eyebrows. Time passed and Can payed no mind to his surrounding and soon his thoughts were on his father. Van remembered the time when his father and himself sailed on the seas. Mist sprayed up into his face. Fish leaped from the water ready to be caught. Shimmering water streamed underneath the boat. The memories became a nightmare and soon Van awoke terrified. Patrons flowed out the Inn and form lines. Men in black robes where checking there passports.
Elric was thrown to the ground by one of the robed men.
?You again, when will you learn..?? The robbed man had a gravely voice. He bellowed as Elric tried to get up.
?Stop hurting him ? Van stepped out of line and the men focused on him.
?Who are you to speak....Now that I think of it your not from here either...? The man walked towards him making a hand gesture, queuing the other robed figures to help him. Van started to run towards them. He battered through them and grabbed Elric?s collar. They reached a dead end. Van saw his opportunity he leaped on to a passing airship. A small on shaped like a canoe, it only carried one box of cargo and no driver. The men looked over seeing nothing but clouds, the airship had just slipped under the bridge.
?They?ll be looking for us..? Elric said as he pulled a hood over his head, the edge met the bottom of his nose.
?Not for long..they have to concentrate on the attacks on Southern Dawnville. It wont be long before we get on the streets.?
?Yes but I think its best to stay away from Roah until the war is over.?
?But yet I have no silver nor copper to use......Wait I have an idea.? Before Elric could question Van there were off in the other direction. They sailed trough the sky in what seemed like hours but only minutes. Clouds blanketed the sky and the shadows grew darker. They ported in Valstra Village. Elric secured the airship with rope.
??Follow me.? Elric said as he lugged the crate onto his shoulders. Van and Elric walked over to some stalls in the market. Elric winced with ever step as the crate became an annoyance. The crate cracked open as hit the ground. The only thing it carried was black robes like the men wore in Roah Van thought. As Elric bartered with the stallsmen Van looking around at the villagers. They were celebrating some sort of event. Vans focus on the celebration was cut off as Elric started to speak. ?I got enough coins to stay one night at an Inn and some extra for supplies.? They started to the Inn as it began to grow dark.
?Well I hope by tomorrow I can get off to my uncle. I think he lives a little south of here.? They passed a fountain resembling a dragon to some extent. Water poured from the mouth and the alabaster scales flickered in the lamplight. They entered the  rustic Inn no to far from the fountain, they heard a men telling tales of encounters with Enkois. Though every man in that room knew that the stories were false they still were intrigued.
?Men slaying overgrown orcs hah  Try going to war with them...? Van walked away but Elric was interested in the story.
?So I was there on its back.? The man continued. ?It tried to fling me off but I held on. I grew tied and fell off. The Enkoi was about to crush me with it?s foot when four elven warriors came out of nowhere and struck the mighty beast with a barrage of arrows.? The people listened in awe.
Van managed to get a room for them, but it was not one of the best they had seen. The floors were broken and spiders hid in every corner. Barely one lamp lit the room. ?Talk about cheap.? said Elric.
?Well we have to stay here for at least the night.? They both lay on the two ?beds? on the floor. The beds were like thin mats made of bark.

I was actually refering to Burton's post where he just said "spam" several times for no reason.

But yes, in case you haven't noticed. A number of spambots have found there way into our OTR fourms. Yet the OTR is just a place to post random stuff, it's not intended to be a breeding pool for spambots.

Also that one member, who posted on General Off-Topic, about the TV thing and used a dumb amount of emotes, also seemed to be a spambot. But yes, I think the best solution for this is just not replying to them, and let the admins take care of it.

There's two ways to deal with spambots.  One is to disallow guests from posting.  I don't think they can register very easily because you need to click back on that link in the verification email (not sure if MS is set up like this, since I registered many years ago.  Heh...)

The other is to force guests to enter a code from an image (I'm sure you've all seen these somewhere) before posting.  Bots can't read letters from images.  I know this mod exists for phpBB, but not sure about these forums.  I'll take a look into if when I get a chance.

Nick: Cool story!

<a href='http://z9.invisionfree.com/MattSoftware_Board/index.php?showtopic=21' target='_blank'>Click here</a>.

This is a link to my forum on my website.  This is a spambot.  It was once a member, before I deleted her.  Now she is considered a guest.  I found the email in my yahoo box one morning saying I had a new registration, and this is what I got.  I got one spam, and I wasn't sure if it was a spambot or not, seeing as there's no point in attacking a forum where the one frequent poster... is me.  Heh.  It came back, posted more, and got to be a big hassle in which I killed off this "emily_harrol" and locked her posts.

So apparently, spambots can somehow register.
