Hmmm. I've downloaded it, and... I must say I'm a bit dissappointed. For several reasons...
1. It says character file is not a valid file. It can't be opened with tk, either. I had to make a new character with ultra statistics (the base 100 HP amount burned out quite fast) and save it as a character file.
2. Tiles are good, even very good. They match the dark atmosphere and overally are good.
3. I have nothing against huge amount of swearing, but generally game lacks basic grammatics like space after dot, etc. That's not a too big case, though...
4. First mission - yeah, I'll say it outright - SUCKS. It's like russian roulette. Cameras lack real optical logic in places they shine over (I oepened board with tk to pass it). You take step and perhaps you'll survive (not get caught, I mean), or perhaps not.
5. Second mission is just a single battle so I can't say much about it.
6. Missions - I know it's demo - lack logic. You have to find a character, okay. But he should at least owe you money or maybe have information rather than telling about full version of game Smile Yeah, I know it's just a demo.
I guess that's all. I hate refering to other things, but for example demo of Dark Age and even my own game (in progress) offers some variety and allows you to search for secrets even through it's not that big...
A short example, in my game a typical character you meet on street has real personality if you talk to him. He doesn't say "welcome to village of XXX" all over again. He'll begin cursing the taxes, telling you about things that have absolutely nothing to offer and mourn over his lost years. He will not be a program - he will be a real man, with his problems and things important for him. He will not know about demons invading, but he will know about his horse being stubborn and his wife being choleric. (just an example, characters usually have other problems).
A common met thug will tell you a history about how he tried to rob the bishop of necklake he wanted as a gift for a girl, a dwarf will lie drunk mumbling about the wine, a historian will tell you about places in the world, a barman will curse the economy and gnostics, etc...
The same thing for Dark Age demo. There is, for example, a guy who admires general and wants his autograph, or old guy hating the wine and food in a tavern. It has nothing with the real story - but it's fun to hear.
And, in my game, it's always worth to build up experience because not only it can raise brute strength, but also things like speech or lockpicks, allowing you to enter places you previously couldn't and learn new things...
Whoa. That's long enough. I guess you get what I mean Wink
