If Pontius Pilate had not had him killed he would have faced a revolt. His job was Roman Governor, so that was what his job was to prevent. He was there to keep Judea under Roman Control. The appeasement of the crowd was a relatively bloodless way of doing so. Also, apparantly, Jesus was going to die anyway. Besides, it is quite a lot of the fault of Judas Iscarriot.

Pontius Pilate did NOT kill Jesus. Jesus was killed by Caifass the archpriest and other members of priest councils, but the main "murderer" was Judas Iskariot.

The Jesus himself mentions that Pilate is innocent ("you wouldn't have any power over me if it weren't given to you from below, so greater sin has the one who betrayed me"). He also says "alas the one through which the Son of Man will be condemned, it would be better for this man never to be born".

As Pilate said, "I wash my hands, I am not guilty the blood of this just one."

Haraldur: That's quote from Passion. It sounds stupid in english, but in some languages having latin-esque grammatics, it makes sense, as "which" is refered to "which one", "what", that's at least how it looks in polish, and we have hell of a grammatics.

The meaning is "What is truth?"

Or maybe it should be "Quid est veritas" in direct translation, but I am assured the quote I brought is right.

WE didn't kill him. Our ancestors did. Because they were all EVIL! Well not evil but very sinfull because people didn't know the difference between right and wrong!

Well, not the jewish nation, just a handful of them. I'm pretty sure there were plenty of jews who did "not" want Jesus to die. Also, it was not "our sin" that killed him. It's the other way around. He died for "our sin".

"Sodamn Insane"? Have you heard the song "Bomb Iraq"?

"Hello ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to welcome the man who made possible my reelection. Please welcome, Mr. Sodamn Insane!"

"When the Kurd, Kurd, Kurd, Kurd is the word..."

"Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iraq..."etc...

The song rules, and it's far better than another Weird's song about Saddam, starting with "we should destroy, should destroy, that iraqui boy..." which sounds like christmas carol.

There's another song by Werid Al and it's a parody of Taliman or something. I'm not to sure of the words but it's a funny song "1 Bomb! 2 Bomb! 2 Bomb! BANG!"

Where do i start....
Jesus was killed by pontius, but was extorted to by a rival family of Jesus.  they were jealous of Jesus's wealth.  the people who wanted to keep the non-faith ways of getting ahead in the synagogue (simony and the like) accapted, they didn't help the matter.  Besides the fact that he was an alien.
