Zeros' turned his head towards them for a moment before turned back to his prodding. He moved several feet to the left, then he moved down and to the right. Now, he was standing roughly 30 meters above the water, a gentle ripple echoing beneth his shadow as his wings flapped, keeping him upwards.

He held up one finger and slowly coaxed his aura out. A midnight black aura, tinged with the slightest bit of white around the corona, appeared around his finger with tendrils flowing from it.

He reached out and dragged his hang across an invisible spot. The air seemed to shimmer for a moment, a glimpse of a color passed by, before their was a rippppp and the crack sealed itself with a inaudiable pop.

While he kept up his ministrations, he felt the dimensional rift appear, as did it with Ven, Zion and Xenai's auras.

"Ven... Ven Hyul..."

Ven stood up and sheathed his sword, trying to look as non-hostile as possible.  He brought his right hand to the back of his head.

"Hah, yeah that's pretty much how we got here."

He looked straight up.

"I don't see anything up there but sky, so I guess it was a temporary portal.  Just our luck..."

Ven took a look to his left and right, noticing the chess matches on one side and the blacksmiths and floating hammers on the other.  Interesting...  He looked the man in the eye.

"Your hospitality is much appreciated.  We won't get in your way.  Say... you wouldn't happened to have seen a man in black armor, about my height, with a glowing red pendant around his neck around here, would you?"

"A temporary, portal, that is fortunate. Anyway, you are our first visitors, so no such person has been here before you. I do have a favour to ask of you three, though. It would please me if you spent your time here, however long, getting to know us, our customs, and our purpose, although I would be probably the best person to ask about that. It appears, as you can see, that many people want to destroy us and our leader and his companion, for reasons we know not. And if our leaders are killed, then it would help if you could speak on our behalf, especially if you know any of the attackers. And if our leaders manage to fight them off temporarily, then you will be able to leave, and I am sure they would like to meet you, and use you as intermediaries for the same purpose, if you will. Our situation is very precarious, and we need all the help we can get."

He pointed to a four story building on the west side of the square (they were on the south side), and said, "You have rooms at that inn, if you ask, the innkeeper will show you to our rooms. It is unfinished as yet, so it will not be painted yet etc., but it is free for you at the moment, so well... any questions?"

Valos looked up at Zeros'. "What the devil is he doing?" He asked

"Beat's me." Duilin replied "Half the time I don't really understand what he's doing. I just  watch him and wait for the outcome. I'm sure, he knows what he's doing."

"He's very odd." Valos said softly.

"I'll have to agree with you there." Duilin said "But the man's a hero, I don't think I'd be alive if it weren't for him."

"Hmmm." Rink rubbed his chin. "I senced a gateway portal..."

"We'll do what we can. Thank you." Zion bowed lightly to the man, and Xenai was already making his way toward the inn with a quick "Thanks."

Ven studied the blacksmiths for a moment.  They were indeed making weapons... a lot of them...

"Hmm, yes I see...  Just who is trying to attack you?  Are you... vulnerable in this dimensional distortion?"

Ven hated to get sidetracked... Mavas is still out there... but he could sense the urgency in the man's eyes.  Perhaps it would be best to stay and help them.  He didn't see a clear way out of the rift, anyway...

----

Draven stood at the mast of the airship, his cape blowing wildly in the wind as the ship pierced through thick clouds.  They had a ways to go, but it wouldn't be long now...  His smirk was maniacal, if not devilish...

Ready or not, here I come...!

"Apparantly, those woh wish our destruction are predominantly the former comrades of our leader, Haraldur, the one made up of ten. Hence our tatoos. One, Lars Draven, is Emporer of the Crimson Empire, and former High General  in the Dark Empire. Haraldur himself was a High General in the Dark Empire, and a governor, of the Northen territories. In fact, he had been there even before the Dark Empire's existance, in the ancient Azure, Blue and Green Empires, although there were several others. We do not know why the feud.

"Then there is a group including a half demon half angel called Zeros', and a half demon half human called Duilin, and an imp called Rink. In fact, your two friends were involved with that group quite a lot, sometimes at the same times as Haraldur was. Maybe they could answer any questions you may have. Apparantly, they also seem not to like our leader very much, and what is more, Haraldur himself does not seem to know why that is.

"It seems that mostly we are being attacked because of who our leader is, although, as I say, their emnity towards him he does not, and certainly do not, understand.

"Are we vulnerable. Apart from you, no. This is because it is absolutely impossible to enter at the place we came from, without killing our leaders first. I expect that is the point, he wants to protect us. I would have said it was absolutely impossible to enter, but for you, however, I have no expectation of anything similar happening again, so we are safe as long as our leaders live."

____________________________________________________________

Through the pond, they could see that there was a large force in the distance. It seemed to me mostly comprised of flying ships.

Haraldur grinned as the sight moved to be directly above the force. He picked up a stone from the ground, and skimmed it accross the pond.

____________________________________________________________

Down where the ships were, sudden craters suddenly appeared in the water, which then shot huge quantities of water upwards. There were five of them. The fourth one to appear (they were all in a straight line going in the same direction. What caused them was unseen) was directly underneath a ship, of medium size. It was knocked out of the air, and broken into splinters, before the wreckage was then sucked down into the deep.

There were some 5 survivors clinging to various barrels and tables.

____________________________________________________________

Haraldur smiled and then shouted into the pond, sticking head in, so that it was visible from the ships as a huge head floating in the sky, the size of a large cloud. His words were, "We regret to inform you the nation of Aspyes is not as yet open for visitors! Begone, trespassers, you have entered our territorial waters."

He lifted his head out again, water dripping from his face. The sight moved away from where his head had appeared, just in case.

"My god..." Marshal gasped as he saw the giant head.

"Territorial waters, eh?" Roland said "Well, I asure you if people listened to there enemies whenever they said 'be gone' then I don't think there would have been as many wars as there was today."

"They destoried one of the ships to." Marshal added "There seem to be gisers or something, controled by magic." He turned his head. The dragon the two were rideing on was near by Draven's ship. Marshal then yelled to him "Haraldur is allready defending!"

Zeros' right hand suddenly became enveloped in a dark aura, tendrils of darkness leaping off his hand. He reared his hand back and stabbed forwards with impossible speed. A sonic boom eminated from where his elbow was. As Zeros' hand reached a certain point in front of his body, his hands seemed to disappear suddnely, leaving only his low forearm visible.

Zeros' left hand also became enveloped in a dark area and he plunged stabbed in at the same place, another sonic booom reverberating around him.  Zeros' wings flared out and his arms seemed to be shaking.

After a few, agonizing seconds, with a hefty roar, Zeros' hands suddenly appeared, along with a small hole, not bigger then an inch or two. His arms became twin pillars of dark flame. Dark power was thick in the air around him as violent sparks flew between his hands and the area he seemed to be pulling apart.

He streached the hole a couple more inches, his dark aura seemed to get darker as more tendrils leaked off his form.

Beyond the hole, a small glimpse of land could be seen off in the distance.

"Ah ha!" Duilin said realizeing what Zeros' was up to. "You created a portal. Uh, you did right?"

"Yes..." Valos mumbled "It appears that Haraldur has been hideing in another 'demenstion', or something to that effect."

In front of Zeros', the fabric of reality was pinched off again, cutting off where he had prized himself into from the area to be defended. It would do this every time someone tried to enter. The warpin was so extreme that in the centre any mass would become a black hole, and would affect the dimension Zeros' was coming from as long as the hole stayed open.

The voice of Haraldur shouted, "Leave my followers out of this Zeros'. Whatever quarrel you might have with me, it certainly is nothing to do with them, so leave the innocent (of what crime?) alone." The sound would be deafening to a normal human.

______________________________________________________________

In the cut off dimension, there was a loud crack, like that of thunder. The man turned around and saw that one horison was glowing, and there was a hole. In front of it, a new horison lowered, covering it up, but not touching the ground, but the horison again, so the land would not be maimed by warped space.

"It appears people are already trying to attack us."

"Back off.  Back off."

The one remaining airship and the four sea ships turned to the opposite direction.  The original plan cannot be comprimised.  This is as far as they could go before Haraldur is distracted.  One of the seabound ships stopped to fish out some survivors on the way.  The low class mages began to collectively errect translucent shields around the ships.

Draven folded his arms, somewhat irritated.  Now the wait begins...

----

Ven was not surprised at the mention of Draven.  He had heard about the actions of this man... but Zeros'?  The winged man he had met earlier?  Those people with him?  Ven nodded his head uncomfortably.

"Y-yes.  Thank you."

Great.  When he last talked to the group, they didn't seem too friendly towards Draven.  Could they actually consider this Haraldur a bigger threat?  Something didn't seem right...  He wasn't about to trust the word of either side just yet...

Ven nodded politely and turned around, heading towards the newly built inn.  He passed by Zion and Xenai, speaking softly:

"So, you guys know anything about this Haraldur guy?  Looks like we ended up in his territory..."

He adjusted the strap on his guantlet as he passed, trying not to attract too much attention to the conversation.

"Don't worry, Haraldur," he said softly, knowing the man could hear him, but not the others, "I'm not like Draven, I won't slaughter countless innocents to get what I want. If I need to, I will turn on Draven to protect your own civilian's, as they have done nothing yet. But, for you past actions against this beatiful planet, you must be punished," he spoke softly.

"If you come out now and we end this quickly, your people will be left with no harm, and I might even help reinforce the enchantments your put on your followers homes," he said, just as softly.

Zeros', also, sent a copy of this mental message to Rink, knowing he was the most logical of the others. Draven would slaughte everyone. Valos would follow Draven's lead, per Draven being the leader of the Crimson Empire. Duilin.. he wasn't sure. If Duilin allowed it, he could turn out like his father and fall into darkness and to never be returned..

He also sent an aditional message: Rink, if things get too hectic, I want you to concentrate on shielding the victims that can't shield themselves. They have no crimes on they're shoulders.

"What past actions, against the planet itself? Are you referring to the continental rearrangement, as I like to call it? There is no way I could have stopped it if I tried, and you killing me will not bring those millions back. I did, granted, have the ability to control the details, and you will note that the most populous continent, the Dark Continent, was completely spared. What is more, I improved things in the long term. When the land rose back up again, you will notice that coastlines were longer with more natural harbours and peninsulas, and that the total landmass had increased. If you had not interfered, by calling in Gaia and rising some bits of land up (which then sunk anyway, how pointless), I would have had more control. Then the coastlines would have been even longer, and the soil even more fertile. The shape and ditribution of the continents would even be symmetrical, but unfortunately, you decided to become involved with something you did not understand.

"What is more, I performed several other essential services for this planet. I both prevented Alpha-Retan from gaining control of this world, and I did the same against my own father, Melkoth. And after that last act, you then proceed to threaten to attack me, which made me quite distressed, as you would realise if you remember my last words before completely fitting myself together, your emnity seemed quite sudden even then.

"I was not stupid enough, however, to completely get rid of myself. My friend, Nikola Tesla, a follower of mine of above average ability, then brought me back, by a method I will not describe to you. For I had other things to do, which involves my followers, who you also do not understand, nor do you understand my intentions, but you are still quite willing to assume that they are evil.

"So, unless you satisfactorily explain how I have done damage to the planet, I will not do as you request."

_________________________________________________________

Tesla stuck his Tesla coil into the pond, and turned it on. The pond became electrified.

_________________________________________________________

The sea now became totally electrified. The four ships on the sea now started to drift as the sailors within were electrocuted to death, due to the conducting properties of salt water. The ships then started to burn, sending the stench of burning corpses rising up to Draven's nostrils.

_________________________________________________________

Tesla saw that the coil had done as he intended, and withdrew it, as the carred remains of the seabound ships sunk.

Zion's ears perked at the mention of Draven. Xenai stopped and whirled around. "Draven? Gah, I knew somethin' had to be done aobut him."

As the three continued to walk...

"Haraldur, I know very little about. It's been 5 years, I don't remember anything Zeros' said about him. Draven, though, I know plenty about. Even after such a long time."
