The small fleet of ships slowly edged through the turbulent waters, their blue etched flags nearly tearing from the masts. The sky was red and black. It rained a strange rain. The compasses were spinning, useless...

"My liege, we must turn back. You are in grave danger. Please, at least go back and we will continue the search for you..."

The stately king stroked his thin peppered beard.

"I will hear no more of that sort of talk. It's my fault he left... and I will correct my own mistake."

----

Ven slowly stood up, dusting himself off. He held his sword to his side as it began to glow with white energy once again... Blast it... think!

He then swung his other hand forth and blasted a black fireball at the hitting the parts of the dead wave that would hit him.

From what I read the dead wave was his attack.\\

He phased right in front of Abodahon, Zero Weapon in hand. "Tsu taught me this one..."

"Kuon Yaiba Ryu! Kuon Katsu..." (Eternity Blade Style, Eternity Victory...)

"Oh, nice." Tsu grinned as he watched. Xenai let forth a large flurry of high-speed, high-power slashes, and with that monster of a sword. (Zero Weapon is much bigger than a claymore, but smaller than Sagara Sanosuke's Zanbatou.) He then put the blade over his shoulder, putting his left hand under his arm, forcing the gathered kinetic energy into it. He executed a Trunks-style finish... "...Dead Wave!!!" And a beam of energy ripped forth upon the tenderized area.

//I have an anouncement: on Sunday I will be leaving my home to go for an interview at Oxford University in the UK. This means that I will be away until Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday too. So, for the next few days, please do not reply to my characters' actions.//

D'oh! You spoil my fun!  Razz  Oh, well, I will get it yet...//

Haraldur raised an eyebrow at Valos. "Coward? Haha... I am a coward because I acquire some principles? As for principles, Valos, I am wondering why you have yet to rush to the side of the newly returned Abodahon Talonscar. Yes, I can feel his presence. Is the symbol on your forehead for nothing? As for rebel, I prefer revolutionary."

Haraldur blasted another piece of wall. He had now reached the kitchens.

As the walls then froze. he saw some Crimson Empire soldiers, wearing strangely important uniforms, gather around him. They looked like heavies. He ignored them.

He heard a slight whistling in his ear, audible only to him, and then received a small message of squeaks. So, the Fascists led by Salazar have taken Wahabia and some surroundings...

He decided to leave this area for his father, for now, so he started flying South very fast. He would get Salazar, that is for sure...

The Grey Mages fired yet more spells at the imp and the half-demon.

Melkoth became immaterial for a moment as the flame wave passed through him. He punched Draven, but was still immaterial, and he swore. He backed away a little, becoming material yet again. He walked on air, around Draven, then chucked a sand storm at him (a very localised one) threatening to both stop Draven's flame and damage Draven's eyes, armour, and the rest of his body, it was a flesh eating sandstorm.

Melkoth broke out of Draven's flame sphere with only minor burns. Safe in the knowledge (at least from his point of view, he is not necessarily right) that Abodahon would deal with things, he decided to fly back East to see the new palace Quintus had built him.

The Prophet could sense that he had failed to kill the second infiltrator, so he flew back down to the palace. Quintus turned into a yellow haze, passing through the small slits of the glassless windows, behind Vincent. He reformed himself, and said to Vincent, "Tell me, why are you so keen to defend an Empire with no future? I would have thought that one so skillful as you would be eager to join with a resurrection of one of the great Empires of the past...

"Right now myself and this building are immaterial, I cannot harm you, nor you me. You might as well talk with me."

Zeros' moved quick. He reappeared, and stood on the demon's neck, anchoring himself to his back with ki and chakra. He charged his sword with holy energy, and raised it above his head, angling it downwards, while, changing it to it's holy form.

He stabbed down, his sword blurring.

Eternity Weapon did little to stop the gauntlet, and he was blown away by it. Xenai's attack seemed to do some damage, but not nearly as much as it would on warriors of his own caliber. He floated back. "Damn." He floated back. "Come and get me, you hulking bastard..."

Zion got to his feet, and looked at Abodahon. There had to be something he could do... Where's a weak point? Where's he getting his power? Those gauntlets! He had to deactivate them or destroy them somehow...

--- --- ---

Tsu arrived at the scene, looking around at all the mages. He decided to call upon the power of darkness. He started muttering an incantation to himself, gathering ether. "Black flames of hell, rise up in the name of good..."

//Trent, I don't understand your post, was the sword slash the attack or the dead wave? Well if it was the sword slashes we'll assume he took the hits, and then continued on with the other things he did. Now update Tsu and Zion.\\

Valos lowered his sword, as Haraldur spoke. "He's...here?" Valos asked. "I do sense something like his aura...but stronger..." He then glared at Haraldur and ran at him swinging his sword, yet he flue off before he even moved his blade. "Shit!"

He then looked at him disappear into the distance. "Well he is right. I should go see him." He then walked into the hole Haraldur made in the palace walls, the soldiers and servants that were in the area looked at him. "Well don't just stand there you fools! Fix this place up!" they then quickly got back to work.

He then looked at the four elites. "I'm going off to do some business, I'll be back in a wile."

He then walked down further away from the palace into the main city square, a messenger was standing there who saluted him as he approached. "Inform Allen and Lieutenant Aura that I have left to do some business, and shall return a wile."

"How long is a wile, sir?" The messenger asked

"How ever long I want it to be..." The general then jumped into the air and surrounded himself in a dark aura and flue off towards Abodahon's aura.

'I bet Melkoth has something to do with Abodahon's return. I'm going to get in some big shit, maybe I shouldn't trust him.

He then felt a sharp pain, like a claw was squeezing his hart.

He clenched his chest and stopped flying. "Stop! I'll trust him, damnit..." The pain then stopped and he continued flying.

----

Duilin continued to block as many attacks as possible. He was getting tired, because there was so many and a few were hitting him. "Damnit, hurry up guys..."

//Xenai's attack was a combination of the slashes, and the wave was a follow up. Whatever. Updating now. Tsu has already arrived where Duilin is, and is charging an attack.

Aura arrived in the city where she thought Valos was. She hopped off the disk, and it seemed to transform into a... hairpin? Oh, a cute one too. How convenient. Wow, Allen's good at this. She stuck it in her hair. The messenger approached her. "You just missed General Valos, ma'am."

"What? Crap! Where's he going?"

"He only said that he was going off to do some business, and that he would be back in a while."

"How long's a while?"

"However long he wants it to be."

"Crap! What am I supposed to do now?!"

(Awesome, Haraldur.  Good luck!)

Draven closed his eyes and dispersed the sword, so that it would augment his aura.  The flame swirled around him, in the opposite direction of the sand, and the two reacted  violently for a few moments, before neutralizing each other and dissipating.  When he opened his eyes, Melkoth was gone, the diversion a success.

"Typical!"

The enormous hollow sphere of flame around him began to rise skyward, and Draven, remaining in a fixed position in the air, became visible as he pierced the bottom.  He brought both hands above his head as the 100 foot diameter ball of flame continued it's upward rise.  It was like the sun that the thick red and black clouds above denied, bathing the battlefield below in an orange flame.  Soldiers of both sides took notice of the awesome sight...

"Miserable coward!  Show yourself!"  His voice boomed across the land, his eyes darting back and forth, but his opponent was no where to be found.

The giant globe of flame began to shrink (it being hollow), getting even brighter in magnitude, until it became a solid sphere of burning energy some 20 feet in diameter...

----

Ven could not ignore what looked like a man holding the sun above his head in the sky...  He turned his attention back to the demon, still readying energy in his blade, studying Zeros' and the others attack the beast...

----

And now it made sense.

Vincent spun around and took a few steps back until he felt he was a safe enough distance away to appropriately respond to any hostile attack...  He then rested his weapon on his shoulder, to give the appearance that his guard was down.

"The Grey Empire... Melkoth..."

He brought his left hand to his chin.

"I see.  So the legends have a hint of truth to them.  An underground society lying in wait to resurrect their 'God', and return Gaian to a previous state of total unity under his rule...  Yet this is the same ideal as the Crimson Empire, except Lord Draven dismisses gods and religion as blasphemy, and therefore we are your direct competition...

"I will admit your ability to organize such an assault underground is impressive, but your claim is still quite bold, old man...  There is one thing I'm afraid I do not understand.  This Ragnar, is he Melkoth?"

----

"Let him go."

"WHAT?!"

Julian folded his arms as Haraldur flew away from the floating city.

"We will restore the orbs and apply the level 3 barrier.  He will find future assaults quite futile."

Hyperion noticed that Dravens battle had ended and his opponent was gone. He flew over, but stayed a good a distance away from the energy sphere.

"So.. uh.. what now?"

//Yes, that would be nice. I already have five characters without those two! But yes, currently Gerard is at some small island, and Ein is with Duilin, observing the battle, near Zeros', Duilin, Draven and co.\\

Draven smirked at Hyperion.

"Why, clean up this mess, of course..."

He stretched his arms higher into the sky and clenched his fists, grabbing thin air.  The glowing orb of flame above him tensed.  He brought his hands downward quickly in a throwing motion, and the twenty foot burning sphere flew ground-ward like a spiked volleyball, straight at Retangrad...

An explosion ensued as the orb smashed into the translucent shield around the city, knocking nearby trees flat and illuminating the battlefield in bright red...  As the light dimmed, the shield around the city was gone.

A small nearby force of Crimson soldiers noticed this and charged the city, but a group of Greys popped up from behind the walls and fired off a continuous stream of explosive blue orbs at the attackers, killing many and driving them off.

From high above, Draven pointed at the town as he spoke to Hyperion.

"Now we shall see how you perform, dragon.  Infiltrate the city and attack them now before they restore their shield.  As for the city itself, it is of minor importance.  I've plenty more..."

----

His back is turned...  This is it... here we go... now or never...

Ven did a mad leap, some twenty feet in the air, thrusting his sword downward as he began to fall, the blade burning with white energy.

"HAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!"

He dove down at Abodahon, aiming the blade straight for the back of the neck...
