// LMAO. That was a CATS-level epic burn, Xorlak. XD

Anti, without looking, caught the two incoming fists with his hands. Since they were on either side, counterattacking would require creativity. Well, he had that. He performed a split in mid-air without letting go of the fists, and then extended his legs in order to kick both of the elites in the gut.

//Duilin and Bjendell are just wandering around somewhere, I have no idea what the geography of the sewers are so just go ahead and have them randomly bump into them. Then maybe they can lead them out, since the sewers are like a maze and all.\

"Okay, so if they came from here, then they either made a turn this, or this way." Duilin said pointing in to opposite directions. "But they obviously came from outside Tjed, so they would have come from this way." He then made a turn and then came two an intersection with three pipes which all seem like where Ven would have come from. "Okay, of all the crappy things that have happened today, I think THIS at least makes number three."

--- ---

The two elites were both hit in the gut, they were able to pull their hands away from Anti's grip. They both stepped back a few feet and then they each fired two golden coloured projectiles of energy at Anti.

Anti didn't need to look with his hypothetical eyes, he knew what the elites just did. He could still see it. You've got to be kidding me. This is an epic comical failure. He simply dropped down... Hopefully the elites weren't super excellent marksmen... 'cos if they weren't, they'd just end up hitting each other.

--- --- ---

The group was wandering around aimlessly... "Crap, what kinda maze is this?" asked Aura.
"Who knows? Who gives a sh-" Xenai turned a corner. WHAM! A collision. "Hey buddy, watch where the 'ell you're- Hey!"
The unlucky sap that he ran into was Duilin.

// How's this? :]

"What the...? Who are you guys? How did you get in here!?" Ben put on hand to his side, and alowed a small magical current to form around his hand.

"You'd best start talking, or... wait... you're not with the empire...? Who are you?"

//Good enough. Oh yeah, I knew Anti was going to do that when I was writing that attack, just so you know.\

The elites' blasts flew to each other however they caught them with their gauntlets and the energy blasts grew larger, as they transferred more energy into them. They both jumped a few yards in the air (with the aid of levitation) and then threw down the increased energy blasts down at the crouching Anti...

--- ---

"Ooff--" Duilin nearly lost his balance as some guy just bumped into him. "Me!? Watch where you're going, you..." Duilin rubbed his eyes. "Well, son of a draken. Xenai." He noticed the others shortly after.

"You guys! I was starting to think that you were trapped in limbo or somewhere." Duilin said with excitement to see his friends. He then noticed Bjendell was likely confused, as were the others with who he was.

"Oh yeah, this is Ben he's an angel apparently." Duilin said introducing his friend.

"And Ben, these are my companions. This clumsy oaf here is Xenai." Duilin said teasing. "The guy with the black hair is Tsu and the guy with the teal hair is Zion." He looked at Aura. "And this is Aura. I haven't really known her for very long."

Duilin rubbed his chin. "Come to think of it, other then Rink, I've only spent like ten days worth with most of my friends." He shrugged. "Anyways, I assume you guys picked up my aura. So that's why you're here. Me and Ben are off to North Point. Want to join?"

---

"Well, I might be able to cure him." Rink replied. "But I first I need to know what caused the poison? I've read some things about viper poison and a few things about mammal poisons. But first thing we need to do is clean the wound. Belle get me some water, please."

Belle nodded and went to the kitchen.

//I guess just to speed things up we'll assume you'll tell me what caused it.\

"So a giant undead rat, eh? Well, I guess if I ground up a parassita herb it might be enough to cure the poison but he'll need a night's rest." Rink explained. "I think I remember seeing a few herbs in the garden in the castle's courtyard. I think as long as you don't bother any of the lizard men you should be able to get it without any trouble. They agreed that as long as we don't resist they won't attack us."

//I assume Xorlak gave Ven this poison in an attempt to inactivate him for awhile. Right?\

(Of course.  Although I have a cooler cure planned.  Heh...)

"Looks like we just missed them," Renard said as he floated into the room, energy crackling on his claw tips.  He landed in the relatively clean center and looked around.  There was definitely a battle here, as there were cracks and indentations on the walls, and many bricks were scorched.  To top it off there was huge charred carcass of a... something lying there.  The humans were nowhere to be seen.

Renard lifted his nose to see if he could catch their scent, but immediately covered it.  "Ugh... bad idea..."

"What is THAT?"  Helix said as he approached the carcass.  "Oh, great... it's another frickin' rat."  He kicked it once and a rib disintegrated.

"I'd be careful with that," Anslem said from the rear of the group.  Renard and Helix turned their backs to the giant skeletal rat.

"They couldn't have gone far," Renard mused, rubbing the underside of his chin.

Helix suddenly felt a stabbing pain in his back and fell forward.  "AHHH!!"

The giant necro-rat drew its blade-like tail away from the Velken and roared, those two hallow eye sockets glowing crimson once more.

"Blast it!!  Helix, are you all right?!"  Renard zipped across the room.

"I'm fine, I'm fine!" Helix said as he got airborne just in time to dodge another swipe of the thing's tail.  The monster continued snapping its jaws at the two Velkens as they flew a wide circle around the room.

"B-Class, non-sentient, independent, undead automaton," Renard analyzed as he shot Helix a glance.

"Two-tier White Banishment," Helix yelled the name of the most appropriate spell back.  The silver fox-mage was looking a little tired.

"Right," Renard said as he made a sharp turn in the air.  The two Battle Mages parted ways and began circling the monster clockwise, perfectly opposite each other.  "Twenty seconds, Anslem, Ruiki!"

"On it."  Anlsem zipped through the air as a blur, arching high in the air then planting his short blade into the monster's skull with a fierce stab.  The undead rat roared in pain, taking a large swipe at the fox before he removed his weapon and shot straight up in one fluid motion.  He kicked off the ceiling and began to fly erratic circles around the monster, dodging its swipes and keeping it generally in once place.

While Anslem and Ruiki were doing their thing, Renard and Helix's hands glowed a bright white.  They were like streamers moving through the air, and the light hung wherever they moved their hands.  Soon a bright white circle in the air surrounded the monster along the mages' flight patterns...

----

Draven never really understood Nex's jokes, or that one just flew over his head entirely.  Not that he would have cared.  He threw his arms before his face in an X and allowed the lightning to strike him, pushing him back several feet as his heals dug up earth.  The jolts bounced off his buffed arms and tore up the ground.  As the last stray bolts singed around him, he threw his arms to his sides as a translucent red shock wave expanded from his body in all directions.  Raising a fist to the sky, he slammed it right into the ground, which promptly fissured all the way to the demon's position.  A huge boulder thundered out the ground right under Nex, surging upwards, propelled by a geyser of molten lava...

//Xorlak, bring Vincent back <3 \

Ein awoke in a somewhat well-lit room. There were people around him in hard suits made of some sort of a metal with a coif on. He wriggled around - his left eye felt a little itchy. He rubbed it, and his fingers came across a... scar?

Then he remembered. He remembered the mage, the knife, the portal...

-"You were the last one out, pupil. You lost your consciousness, and we dragged you back here, clutching the Stalker's head by the hair. It took quite a bit to pull it out from you."

The words came from an especially thin man in a hard suit. Aahzmandius?

-"You were judged worthy of an eye replacement. You have a bit of a scar on your face, but it's nothing serious. It will not impede your training, and your new eye may offer some interesting abilities, so long as you find them yourself. Now that it's done, you are to resume your learning."

All of the people left the room. Ein got up and followed Aahzmandius back to the meal hall. He noticed that only a third of the people remained, only about 20 or so from the original amount of around 100.

Oddly enough, not many people were as injured as himself. That particular stage of Stalker training was designed to eliminate the weakest, and the strongest usually got out without as much as a scratch. He did notice a few people brandishing mechanic arms and legs, though. The Headmaster was in the room again - what the hell was his name? Kogos? Katos? Kragos?

-"The next 18 months of your stay here will be spent perfecting your combat skills. You will be responsible for this yourself. However, there will be lections held on the matters of techniques, tactics, history, and such subjects every day. During this time, you are free to use all and any of the facilities here - including other professions' training halls." The Headmaster paused. "After this meal, you are to go to the Arena."

---

All of the remaining Stalkers were summed up in the Arena. The Headmaster was there, as well as some sort of a scribe with a closed book in his hands.

-"Welcome to the Ceremony of Names, recruits. Here, those of you who succeeded will have their name recorded into the Book of Names... so that your real name may never be spoken again. You are no longer a normal human. You are Stalker, one who is above normal humanity. A special, new name for you will be decided here."

The line began moving, as the pupils proclaimed their real names, and received a new one. Finally, it was Ein's turn.

-"What is your name?"

-"Ah.... Garrett."

-"It is no longer. Your new name is Einherjar."

 Shocked

-"What?"

-"Einherjar."

-"I see... Alright..."

-"Go now, Einherjar, and continue your path towards being one of Kandarin's most elite."

-"Yes, sir."

//Oh, do you now? Well I guess this could just be some sort of treatment or something.\

Nex allowed himself to be pushed up by the massive boulder, be he simply rode it upwards as the geyser of lava started to push it up. His metal boots started to steam as he stood up on the boulder. He jumped off the boulder and started floating forwards, a gob of lava dropped on his shoulder yet it trickled off like water. Nex yelped as if having hot tea spilt on him, and he rubbed his shoulder as he advanced forward.

"I'll admit you'd make a good demon." Nex stated. "Maybe one Abodahon's elites or something."

He then whipped out two sickles from his invisible pockets and twirled them around as he hovered with his back to the lava geyser.

"Not that I would allow Abodahon to recruit a pig like you!"

He then flew forward and tossed the sickles which arched to the sides and zoomed towards Draven at bullet speed, equally as fast he materialized his cleavers and fired them from his hands one going straight towards him and the other went right over Draven and went right towards his back...

"Nice to meet you all... but we must be moving, quickly. I fear the enemy has picked up our trail, and they are a few sewage sections behind us. There is probably only one solution in leaving this place, and that would be from where you came. Tell me, did one of you leave some sort of trail?"

------------

"I think we should have Lagart or Jacobie get it, just to be on the safe side. What I'm saying is what if they aren't allowing any humans in the castle at this point? What if they're stationing all of their guards inside the castle, and preparing the... nevermind, I just worry too much. I'll go, but be careful. Anyways, what does this thing look like?"

------------

"Oh man... ugh, my head... What the hell happened there? Hey Valiko, you okay?"

"Ugh...... I'll be fine... just a minor headache. And yourself?"

"Same here. Oh, you are clever, Valimore..."

"Huh?"

"Oh, that's just something between our group. I'll have to tell Justin later. Right now, I fear our friends might be in danger. Let's go in the sewers and find them."

"Agreed." Valiko and Tiberius both ran through the maze-like sewers, leaving behind a glowing wihte trail so they could find their way back. After a few sections, pipes, and clearings, they found the others.

"Duilin! Ben! Man, am I glad to see you guys!"

"Is your destination out of here? If so, we've laid out a path for you."

"Hey... who are those guys?"

"It's nice to meet you too." Zion nodded to the guy, speaking for the rest of the group. "North Point, huh? We'll come along... But we have kinda been in a limbo of sorts for a while. We'd like to be filled in on the latest happenings. And also... There's trouble brewing near there. I'm not exactly sure how close, 'cos the geography of the Dark Continent escapes me at the moment... But Draven's there. And so is our current objective... a massively powerful astral demon known as the Zerobi no Anti."

And another group seemed to stumble upon them. Xenai gave an uncharacteristically meek wave. Probably in comic effect.

--- --- ---

// Heh... predicting my moves ahead of time? For that nice display of skill, I'll gladly take that hit.

Anti looked up to see the result of their... idiocy? Clever bastards. Before he knew it, the improved blasts were upon him. He didn't really have any choice but to take the hit.

"Heh heh heh... Come on. Can't you do any better than that?" He was still standing there after the smoke cleared, and he looked only slightly fazed. About 5-10% of his energy had been dispersed from taking the attack. If at any point, for any reason, his energy gets to be 0%... He will cease to exist, as the dispersed energy will no longer have a core to return to. "It was impressive... But it will take more than that to defeat me."

He held out a hand and taunted them... Morpheus' "come get it" gesture.

Indher appeared impressed at how the man used runes.

"Oh, a fellow rune mage? That's uncommon..."

She then proceeded to approach the virus-infected being.
She eyed him closely, observing him, completely ignoring the pack of papers in her hand.

"Alright, I think I can do it..."

As she shoved the papers back to the man who gave them to her, Indher began to draw a runic circle in the sand...
And then, another cirle which partialy overlapped the last one.

"OK, please stand HERE..." Indher pointed at the space which the two circles shared.

"This one will allow me to remove any foreign objects from your body... So ugh... It might remove more than just the virus, but I'm sure you don't have anything important in there!"

She then took a simple nearby rock and placed it at the edge of one of the circles.
"All of it will be transferred into THIS rock as soon as the runes are activated. Will YOU do the honors?"
She turned to face the man, eying the kitten near him suspeciously.

//Anti takes a hit! That's why I like you Trent. You're one of the few people who isn't paranoid about his characters getting attacked Wink\

"We do intend to do more." The Talonscar elites both said together, they then both zoomed downwards with their gauntlets glowing a blood red colour as they smashed down their fists into Anti.

--- ---

Duilin saw the two newcomers he recognized one of them, but never recalled catching his name.

"Ah yes, I recognize you, from the battle with Jayce." Duilin said to Tiberius. "Forgive me; I don't really recall getting your name." He then looked to the other newcomer. "I do not believe I recognize you...May I ask your name?" He asked. He sensed something strange within him, his aura had a slight feeling to it, he recognized it, but couldn't recall where he felt it from. His aura detection and analysis wasn't that strong.

"Oh yes, so these are my friends. Xenai, Zion, Tsu and Aura." He said motioning to them. He then thought he may as well answer what asked Zion asked and fill him in.

"Okay, so in case you haven't noticed the Dark Empire has successfully conquered Terian, while we were gone. And now, as you can see they have chosen to spread into Tjed. I traveled around the north-east of Terian and it seems pretty terrible, with what happened to the place. You know of that one city Asgarnia? It's been turned into slums, and it's probably the nicest place on that continent. There is, or at least was this entire county where humans were able to live in decent homes, but it was ruled by this pretty tyrannical Count. Anyways..."

Duilin lowered his voice.

"Apparently there is this one race of fox-men from another realm, called the Velkens, who serve Emperor Retan. They have assassinated the king and the entire counsel of Tjed, as well as many other people. At first I thought they were evil...but apparently the emperor has their world held together by some sort of spell and if any of them betray him, he'll let go of the spell and their world will be destroyed. One of them was able to tell me this, but only under a spell that was able to block out anyone being able to hear or sense we were talking. The Velkens have been forced to conquer Tjed, but it seems that they are only holding us hostage. Now, there is a portal at North Point to the Velken home world. If we were able rescue their world, the Velkens would no longer have to serve the emperor, thus saving Tjed."

Duilin paused.

"But one last thing. The emperor's connection with the Velken world is so strong that even if the Velkens began talking about trying to betray him, he'd lift the spell and their world would be destroyed. And if we went inside, and tried something, he'd likely do the same. I'm not totally sure how we can save the Velkens, but I have a few ideas. But saving them is our only chance we have to rescue the people of Tjed."

Blast it, there was no way he could dodge that.  Draven quickly spread his arms to his sides and released the energy contained in his pumped-up muscles.  His aura of flame returned with a violent blast, sending the bladed projectiles spinning away as his body decreased to its normal size.  On fire once more, Draven slowly floated skyward.

"Frankly, you're starting to irritate me."

Smirking, he spread his arms wide and his palms began to glow, crimson sparks swirling about them...

----

(Blargh.)

The glyphs began to glow as Vincent's form became visible, and the black-coated alchemist stepped out of the light.  He seemed much more refreshed than before, his hair neat and trim and even his coat clean and smoothed.  He nodded to the Kandarinian guard.

"If you would, please inform Mr. Ryleh that I have arrived at a decision."

// <3 \
// I don't need much from Vincent, all I wanted to do was to get his form over with, and start him on building my new airships to lay ruin to all that is Dark Empire. >:[ Then you can go back to regularly not updating him. \

-"Yes, sir."

The guard took out a silver orb, and whispered something into it. Moments later the Scribe appeared from the wall, using a previously dim glyph. The sigil was now glowing from its recent use. Cain was beaming.

-"You couldn't've come at a better time, Mr. Eldridge. I suppose we'd better get you a new avatar first, and then discuss certain things the Sovereign requested of you. So, what will your new form be?"

--- --- ---

"After wasting a sufficiently long amount of time, I finally decided to get to business regarding Draven's weapons. Being the careful-" Here, the word "careful" was scratched out, and, in someone else's writing, corrected to "paranoid." "overlord that I am, I set up a multitude of recording and measuring devices around the throne room prior to Draven's arrival. The devices were particularly effective in breaking down his own dagger's aura, giving me an idea of what to look for. Sending out a mild jolt of Necromantic energy through my tower, which, after modifications, acted as a resonator, I took control of about 300 weakling zombies on the Crimson continent. They had a simple order - follow the aural patterns of the weapons and bring them back if they find any."

//this means that your characters can encounter a random undead or two crawling about. They aren't tough at all, but they will try to escape if attacked. Note: not all of these zombies are in one place, they're spread out evenly around the northern coast of the continent. They will be making their way further in as my posts continue, though.\

--- --- ---

...and thus passed two more years. Ein followed the advice of the headmaster, and used other Stalker class training halls. During the lectures, he learned quite a bit about Kandarin. He finally realized that he wasn't in the Kandarinian chain at all, but rather in the Arctic Region. Odd how he didn't notice the lack of water around the city - though he really never went out of its premises.

The training halls required quite a bit of resilience. Ein was most interested in working with instructor Gamall, who taught the usage of glyphs. If those could be used to enhance his old crossbow, they should do miracles for the new spear gun. However, as the instructor went on about all the different types of glyphs and how to use them, Ein realized that he would not likely have the time to draw them during a battle.

One day, during his practices in the glyph users' seclusion chambers, he noticed that he wasn't alone. The thin girl with the gauntlet-mounted bow was there as well. She was enchanting a batch of her bolts.

-"Ein! How bes you?"

-"..."

-"Eris."

-"Right. How are you then, Eris?"

-"I bes well. Bes them glyph hard to make. Bes you here for them glyph drawingses as well?"

-"...Why are you talking like that?"

-"All woodsie peoples talks like me. Bes you not know them woodsie peoples?"

-"No..."

Eris removed a lock of hair from her neck, revealing an intricate, Celtic-looking tattoo. It started at the base of her shoulders, going up all the way to the temple. Ein has never seen anything quite like this before.

-"That still doesn't tell me anything."

-"*Sigh* Cityfool... Us woodsie peoples was taken by them Kronos, as slaves. Bes our wish to slays the bloody snake. Bes them rotted minions of Kronos then fall lifeless, so wes can get back to them woodsie. I was birthed here, so I bes unknownful of them leafies, but Grans and Granps says it's the best place on earth."

Ein stared at her blankly.

-"What?"

-"Bes you still not understandsie me?"

-"No, I mean, why are Kandarinians letting you into their academy?"

-"Oh. Them Granps has... how he saysie... "connections" in them academy. Bes he the cousin of them Kragos, I don't know. He made them screening process make me pass through. Bes not ask how. Bes I not have them answer. Anyways, you still bes a cityfool. Helpsie me with them bloody glyph drawingses."

Ein rubbed his chin.

-"Making glyphs is one thing, and an easy one at that... you just have to remember them. However, right now, I'm trying to figure out how to decrease the time required to make a glyph. Still blank on ideas."

-"Bes easy. Them Grans did glyph drawingses as well. Bes she put them more-often used ones on her skinsie."

-"You mean she carved the sigils directly into her skin?"
