FFVIII was the first RPG I ever played, actually.. And it got me into the whole Genre. If it wasn't for FFVIII, I probably wouldn't even be in the TK community.
Anyways, I loved it. It was.. a change, certainly, but it was good.
It was under way too much hype when it was released, giving it a bad rep.
It had graphics that were simply amazing for the date it was released, and it had a wonderful storyline.
I must say, I did hate the weapon upgrading and lack of armor, but the junctioning system more than made up for this. I've never been fond of Card Games too much either, but FFVIII had a decent one. The characters were perfect.. So believable. And for once, Square had an angsty, depressed, reclusive guy for a main character, instead of the unusually upbeat, optimistic clich'e you see so often. And who didn't fantasize about Rinoa? Wink
The GFs were great, it was packed with side quests, (of God I wish I had one of those Pocket cards or whatever you need for the Boco game..)
Saddly.. I lost my copy.. ;_; Need to buy a new one.. or get a comp capible of running the ROM...
