Ok, I know the game is from 1999, but there are many FF addicts out here. So, I want to know what you think...does it deserve it's reputation of worse FF game ever?  I think FF8 was one of the best ones, myself. I know it's crazy, but I really think it is.

Great game.

Amazing storyline.
Innovative stat system.
Fun card game.
Interesting characters.
Superb ending.
Spectacular graphics.
Beautiful music.

..... I really don't see why people hate it.

I'm totally undecided.

And for one reason and one reason only!

I have not played Final Fantasy Eight! -_-

I definately liked it. Not as good as 4,6, or 7, but definately good. Worst FF will always be Mystic Quest or whatever it's called.

I didn't like the graphics, really. A mix of 3d and 2d doesn't look well, at least it doesn't even look as well as in FF7.

The BS is cool but really watching summons' or GFs' or whatever they were's animations over and over makes one sleepy. They're basicaly too long. Razz (yeah, I know they were also a bit long in FF7 but not that long)

I voted for mediocre in the poll.

You should be able to turn the long summon animations off, so that each summon only lasts a couple seconds, rather than 30 or more.

FFVIII was the first RPG I ever played, actually.. And it got me into the whole Genre. If it wasn't for FFVIII, I probably wouldn't even be in the TK community.

Anyways, I loved it. It was.. a change, certainly, but it was good.
It was under way too much hype when it was released, giving it a bad rep.
It had graphics that were simply amazing for the date it was released, and it had a wonderful storyline.
I must say, I did hate the weapon upgrading and lack of armor, but the junctioning system more than made up for this. I've never been fond of Card Games too much either, but FFVIII had a decent one. The characters were perfect.. So believable. And for once, Square had an angsty, depressed, reclusive guy for a main character, instead of the unusually upbeat, optimistic clich'e you see so often. And who didn't fantasize about Rinoa? Wink
The GFs were great, it was packed with side quests, (of God I wish I had one of those Pocket cards or whatever you need for the Boco game..)

Saddly.. I lost my copy.. ;_; Need to buy a new one.. or get a comp capible of running the ROM...

We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside
This holy reality, this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Alive, I

In this holy reality, in this holy experience. Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Twirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. we are eternal.
all this pain is an illusion.

You can buy Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for the PC if your wondering. You probably wouldn't need a computer better then the hardware they used in a PSONE to run it. My copy is messed up. I liked it though. Never beat the last boss...

It still remains that Mystic Quest was the WORST and Final Fantasy 3(6) or Final Fantasy 7 are the best Final Fantasy's ever.

I liked FFIX, FFT, and FFV the best of all, really.

You didn't beat the boss? Aw man, you missed out. The ending owned. And the boss was so cool.. I was at level 100 with all my characters and GFS and she was still a challenge. But, if you have Quistis and her Mighty Barrier and her Shockwave Pulser (This weapon is so good the boss has it itself ..) The boss can be beaten in around 15-20 minutes. Without Quistis it's wicked hard though.. XD And saddly, up until the last boss, Quistis was my least favorite character, heh. I actually got pissed that she ended up in my party.. til I won.

Yeah, the ending is truly brilliant.

I prefer to have Zell in my team. I can pull off at least 60 attacks if I get the 12 second time period. The other two people just keep him healed Razz

Lol, Yeah.. Zell is Awesome. He's my favorite character (Well, maybe him and Irvine are equal..). Squall was my strongest guy though. Lion Heart has to be the best Limit in the game.. I mean, I do 4,000-9,999 each hit since I was level 100, and I got to hit the enemy at least 10 times.. But I could never be sure if I'd get Lion Heart or some crappy one like Rough Divide. And if you got a good Quistis in your party, you're pretty much a God. Just cast Aura or use an Aura stone, Use her mighty barrier, and if you can still get whooped after that, you need to consiter playing a different game. XD Of course, Rinoas Invinsible Moon isn't bad either. Go Angelo The Doggie. ^^

I really liked Final Fantasy 8 mabye because it was the first 3d in the series that I played. Mystic Quest was the first Final Fantasy I bought and I've played it about 10 times. I haven't beat FF8 yet I gave up near the end of the third disc.

As for the reason for long animations...it has to do with the "BOOST" system.
