You're shitting me right? Do you know how little work would get done, and how much cheating would go on? The reason web courses work with colleges is because the student is usually paying for the degree, which gives them a much stronger incintive to do their work. Making web courses available for high schools would make the graduation rate drop like a rock. Why don't you ask yourself why you want web courses in the first place. I doubt it's because you live too far from a public school... It's probably more along the terms of you wanting to do work on your own time...which most people, means never. Besides, arn't you 17 or 18? Even if they added them, you'd be out of HS by then. Public school also encourages social activity. I meet very few people at my job, but if I went to school, I'd probably end up meeting hundreds of people. School is one of the best things for development of your social skills, which you'll need later in life.

And please don't try to say that Instant Messengers count as social skills...

For once, I agree with Spyder. It'll lead to the downfall of the majority of students and take away what little social contact many kids have as it is.

Yes, you are correct. And I did notice ur signature just now, lol. Thanks Cesque.

-Edit- And by the way, Spyder, I'm 16. And the development of social skills...does that include being ganged up on in the hallways because im one of the 3% of students in the school who is:

1) a virgin (by choice in my case)
2) NOT a druggie
3) involved in a sport that isn't a school sport

Seriously, do you have any idea how many times I've had to defend myself because of this? Ive suspended for self defense before...as far as the school is concerned, a fight's a fight. But seriously, tell me, how the hell am i supposed to avoid a fight when i'm surrounded and backed against my locker? I can't. I have no choice.
-End Edit-

-Edit 2-
Ah hell with it, I'm already gonna drop out anyways. Seriously, with the crap I put up with from one of my teachers (who had the nerve to refer to me and my family as trailer trash), there's no point in me staying in school.
-End Edit 2-

Mark, I'd imagine everyone in this community has suffered some kind of abuse from classmates before. I also know that your probably at least slightly exagerating the situation. I was picked on all through grade school, from K-12. Believe me, you'll live. If anything, your martial arts should've taught you some patience. As for your teacher, why not put up with a few more months of his/her crap and then summer will be here, and then junior year, and hopefully you won't have them as a teacher again. Like I said, even if your petition actually "works" (and by the way, it won't), it's not going to be implemented for some time, and like I said, you'll probably be well out of HS by then.

BTW, by "defending" yourself, all you did was ask to be picked on more.

You were picked on Spyder? You're 6 foot 6, I wouldn't dare pick on you Razz.

I was never picked on and kind of enjoyed High School in terms of friends, sports and stuff, which probably explains why I'm not a despressive like 99% of the community. Guess I'm a lucky one.

6 foot 6? Damn, well there is this one guy, in my Latin class, who is huge, and I call him Paul Bunnion (That giant dude, with the blue ox) and such. Not that I'll make fun of you, Spydie....

Anyways, to be honest, for maybe even the first time, I'm going to have to say to no to this idea, MotD. Even though it will have NOTHING to do with me, because I'm Canadian, but meh, you know our goverment, if you guys do it then we will start doing it, and then you guys I'll change your mind but we will do it anyway...

I just think it'll encourage people to slack off more, nobody will get anywork done, and as Spydie said, graduation rate drop like a rock, and failure rates would rise like a......I probally shouldn't say... Laughing

So yes, I'm sorry, but I'll pass on the signing. Oh and tip, seriously, don't drop out, my older brother did, and seriously, his life ain't the best, the best job you can get if you drop out is working at Pizza Hut or Mr.Sub...

And if the teacher is insulting you like that, tell the principal what he said, and then get the ass hole fired!

I wasn't always 6'6", though I have always been tall. Super skinny as well though, and that sort of makes the height null and void. I've been made fun of for all sorts of things, including my clothes, my family's car, my last name (lots about my last name actually...), how I used to look (I'll upload a pic someday...quite a bit different from how I look today). I was never very good at sports, even if I liked to play them, so when I did, I was made fun of a bit about that to, and usually the last one picked to be on a team, if I was even allowed to play. I had big feet, so people loved to step on them. During the 6th or 7th grade my feet got pretty sore Sad. I'm sure there's plenty more than that if I thought long enough. I pretty much gave up in the 4th or 5th grade when people stopped coming to my birthday parties, and became more and more socially reserved every year after that, especially 8th-12th grade. I had a few people act like jack asses to me to try and get me to fight back, but knowing I would just look like a fool, I just ignored them and walked away. Works surprisingly well. Sure, people called me a pussy, but I didn't get any broken noses, etc Razz

Moving away from where I grew up was the best thing I've ever done, as I was able to sort of "start over". I never had very many of my own friends in Washington, and usually hung out with my younger brother and his friends.

Heh. Aside from the obvious names like "Barbershop", I got called quite a few others, such as "Boney" (cause I'm skinny as hell), Big Bird (because I used to have a big yellow jacket), and Cookie Monster (same, only blue jacket). Others as well...can't remember them all.

Now people just call me "Juan". Much more to my liking than the others Razz

MOTD, as far as your virginity goes, yeah, you'll get some crap about it, but believe me, all those guys will be wishing they still had theirs once their first child support bill arrives... I'm still a virgin as well, and at 23, believe me, I still get crap about it from friends. One of them just had his 3rd kid a couple days ago. Thankfully he's still married, but I'm afraid that may not last long....anyways, getting off-topic...

I hear you Spydie, I used to get made fun of all the time K-8, now it's kinda less, but I still do, most of it is jokes and all, but there is the occasional bully, every now and then, but that's calmed down now. I'm useally the one picked on in the group, but not as much as this one guy...

Anyways. Yes, getting very off-topic indeed. I say, we should just leave schools the way they are, it may stink, but we have to live with it -_- ...
