It's been 60 years since the concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau (currently at polish city of Oświęcim) has been liberated. That death factory alone led to death of 1.5 million people.

Just letting you know I remember the day, and I am grateful for all soldiers, allied and from Red Army, which helped in liberating german death camps and helped bring the responsible to justice.

(soviets actually did more, since Americans have tried to condemn death camp engineers and alike but found no evidence, soviets just sent the bastards to 25 years at gulags to teach them a lesson)

Ps. For those who know about the case, I still don't get why in UE resolution word "homosexuals" is before "Polish". Not that I care, it just looks absolutely idiotic this way.

Ps. ps. I don't even get why UE needs to make any "resolutions" about holocaust. No document, however formed, will be able to capture a glimpse of tragedy of people put like chickens in cages waiting for their death. Of people bleeding and suffocating from gas unable to get out of enclosed steel walls of gas chambers.

Ps. ps. ps. Auschwitz tragedy, compared to american god-damn puny World Trade Center blow-up was actually extreme and was a final monument to how human beings don't change from prehistory to XX century in dealing pain to another human beings.

Yes DMM, but Cesque's culture is consideribly different from the culture of the US and the UN. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people who still to this day grateful for all soldiers, allied and from Red Army, which helped in liberating german death camps and helped bring the responsible to justice.

I am quite sure that some people's family lines would have been exterminated like I'm sure hundreds, if not thousands, were between the time Hilter came into power and to the end of WW II.

I may not of had any family in Germany when this all went down, but I still do care for history. Several key events that happened could of been dramitically different and the world-as terrible as it is now-might have been even worse.

I had seen serveral old video's of various concentration camps (Auschwitz being one of them), and several people, when I was in 8th grade, vomited at some of the graphic details shown as well as cried.

Thank you, my family will be happy to hear that.  a lot of them were in the war.  one died at normandy, my grandfather was an MP in the french algiers, and a few others were all over.  one may have seen the death camps, im not sure and not asking.

WTC is NOTHING like the Holocaust but it did have similar affects because many directly knew someone that worked and died there.  i have friends that lost relatives, hell i may have lost friends from that and Iraq/Afghanistan.  Many friends in armed services, me soon being one of them hopefully.  Wish me luck.

As Haraldur said in a different thread, sucking up is often worse than people being offensive, and can get annoying. It will not help you in this community anyways; as I will treat everyone the same here regardless of how much they kiss ass. Nazis sent to death not only Polish, but Russians, Rommes (gypsies), Jews, homosexuals and lots of other minorities from the conquered or allied countries. They were gasing people, burning them in furnaces, testing medicines and battles gases on them and producing soap or buttons from their remains.

Ps. German cell company Siemens producing parts for german V2 missiles. German known medical conern Bayer has tested it's medicines on concentration camp prisoners.

Obviously, Americans didn't suffer much so WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU CARE.

I honestly don't see why the hell anyone's comparing 9/11 with the holocaust any ways... Is only one of them allowed to be mourned? They can't both be bad events?

9/11 was a unitary event, an attack on US. Holocaust was a whole machine of death, it was a system which sent people to be tormented and die, it killed thousands across Europe from Spain to Poland.

The scale of hatred made Great Spanish Inquisition look like a puny antisemitic movement.

But death camps exist nowadays. Where? In North Korea. They work on pretty much same ways as in nazi Germany, with people working, being killed and experimented on.

Hmm, this is oddly hard to explain. It's the same thing as kissing ass, heh. Basically trying to make someone, or a group of people, like you more, by giving them compliments, doing stuff for them without there being a need, etc, etc; just to eventually benefit yourself.

Obviously, Americans didn't suffer much so WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU CARE.

I suppose I don't care so much about it being the aniversary, since I personally don't have anyone to mourn or anything, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to acknowledge the event, and remember those whose lives were lost, etc. However, you seem to forget that America isn't called the "Melting pot of the world" for nothing. There are people here from all over the world, especially European countries. I have relatives that live in the Netherlands, who were right in the middle of WWII, the Holocaust, etc. There are Americans who suffered, and care just as much as you do.

Six million Jews, plus others, were systematically slaughtered in the matter of a few years. Men, women, children and babies, and you've "never heard of that". Never heard of the gas chambers? The human furnaces?

I don't give two hoots about commemorating the anniversary of liberation - that's a personal choice. But not to know about it is shameful.
