Believe me Cesque, I have no intention of calling anyone here an "idiot" exceptin jest. I just don't have much of a programmign background, so blundering through has been kinda tough, though RPGCode was a little easier to learn than I thought. Writing a cutscene - no problem. Creating items - a little trickier, but doable. Editing a battlesystem - there it starts getting really tough.
I like the menu system and basic layout of DragBattle 3, but I think the battlesprites are too small and too limiting. I like the fact that S&M Strategic BS uses images liek sprites instead of using the battle tiles, but I don't like the rest of the system very much. Ideally, I'd like to merge the elements I like on each and add a few of my own, like vulnerabilites/resistances to work. I almost got the latter together - I can get it to load the stats for the player characters, but I'm still trying to figure out how the BS handles enemy data so I can get it to load that information for the opponant.
In a perfect world, I'd have a battle system akin to Final Fantasy Tactics, but even I know the chances of that are about the same as Michael Jackson becoming human again, so I'm just trying to get a few key things at a time and see where it goes from there.
