Ok, I know that nobody here on MS really bashes it, but I'm pretty sure there are some on ToolkitZone that have done their fair share.

I ask you, my fellow TKers, is RPG Maker really so bad? I had plenty of time to use it, and I actually like it.

Post your complaints about RPGMaker XP here. And if anyone says graphics resolution, that's not really an excuse, especially since many TKers use ripped graphics or poorly made custom graphics anyways.

My only list of complaints:
Layering is only done for graphics purposes; you can't transfer a character between layers.

The scripting language, while VERY easy to learn, can get a bit tedious at times.

MIDIs sound different through RPG Maker XPs sound system.

Well, I don't remember having RPG MakerXP on my computer, but before I got the TK, I remember (don't tell anyone.) having RPG Maker 2000 on my computer, but then, I discovered the TK, and discovered it's 10 times as good as RPG Maker. RPG Maker isn't bad in my opinion. The TK is just better.

No worries there; I used RM2k before, too. I liked it somewhat as well. 2003, however, was too buggy for my taste.

I have RM2k.  I don't use it anymore, but I took it off of a disc somebody at my school gave to me.  He meant to give me a demo of his game, but he gave me the wrong disc.

I still haven't given it back...

Small review:
+ Characters came with premade walking things ( Very Happy )
+ Could run music through it easily
- Same complaint as MotD about the scripting language.
- I never did get the thing to run my game...

It's ok.

I don't think it's a very well made program, but it helps me with my Toolkit projects so I can't complain.

He probably uses it to get ideas for map design.

I cannot state an opinion on this topic, for I have never used RPG Maker.

If you can't get it to work you are obviously not trying.

You could just say you don't want to
