Anslem and Renard burst from the sewer opening carrying Helix and shot straight up towards the nearest black airship hovering over Tjedon.  The three warships hovered just under the translucent green dome that cut off the captured city from the outside world while martial law was enforced.

"Looks like team one is returning," a Velken Blade Knight noted from the ship's deck.  A black robed Battle Mage stood next to him.

"Are they carrying someone?"  the other fox asked.

"Go get Lord Virmir!"  Renard screamed from way down below.  They had just cleared the rooftops and were zooming up towards the ship.

"He's meeting with Commander Vlak," said the fighter.

"Yelling at him, more likely."  The mage mused, folding his arms.

"There's no time!" Anslem retorted as they cleared the railing on the side of the ship.  Carefully, Anslem and Renard set the injured Helix down on the smooth black metal that comprised the airship's deck.  He was completely unconscious and his short breaths were haggard.

Both of the other two Velkens' eyes widened and their tails frazzled.  "We're on it."  With that, they flew down a flight of stairs and disappeared into the ship's bowels.

"Hang in there, Helix," Renard said as he held his claws over three inches over his poisoned comrade's chest.  A light blue trickle of energy began to flow downward into the poisoned Velken.

"Don't kill yourself, Renard."  Anslem said joining in and offering some energy of his own.

Renard clenched his teeth, clearly upset.  "We can only fight it back so long... Ruiki, did you say you knew a cure?"

Anslem shook his head before she could answer. "This is the poison of the undead.  It's not that simple..."

"But Lord Virmir will know... he has to..."

----

"Ah, screw it."

Draven glowered as he thrust both hands to his sides and a brilliant ring of flame spread outwards around Nex with a diameter of twenty five feet or so.  The ring widened upwards and downwards until it expanded out to a burning hollow sphere with the demon in the middle.

"Let's just see how much heat it takes to make you crack..."

Draven thrust his fingers forward and curled his fingers as the fiery sphere began to shrink in size, with Nex in the middle.

"Yes, I know of one. I'm going to need a plant from the castle's garden. In the mean time, cast as many healing spells as you can on him to stabilize his breathing. I'll be back with the plant." Ko'ji leapt off the ship and flew straight for the castle. She entered the courtyard and looked for the flower.

"Usually it would be right there... Why is almost everyone of these picked? Aha! There's one." Ko'ji grabbed the flower and uprooted it, flying back to the airship with the other Velkens.

"I've got the plant. I just need a clear area to grind the plant." Ko'ji wiped the dust away from the ground where she was standing and sat down, crossing her legs. She took out her dagger and started to chop up the flower, even the roots. As she was chopping with one hand, she took out a large veil filled halfway with water, about the size of an avarage healing potion. She placed the veil down next to the chopped flower and flipped the dagger over, grinding the flower into smaller bits.

"This ought to help him swallow it better." Ko'ji took out a small packet from her blue vest and tore open the top part, pouring in a white powder into the veil. She then took as much powder from the flower as she could and poured it into the veil. She then took the cork from the veil, placed it back on the veil, and shook it for a few moments.

"Here, have him drink this. It will cure most of the poison, enough for him to move, but he will need a day's rest for it to fully take effect." Ko'ji handed the veil to Renard.

Time for a celebration! CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!
Wait, scratch that, cheese for no one. A celebration can be just as fun if you don\'t like cheese, true?

"More than even you can handle..."

Nex clenched his fists and slightly braced himself as the flames crushed into him. The attack clearly hurt him, but did it have any long-term permanent affect?

Nex begam tp laugh and he was still glowing red from his attack he was charging. He lifted his smooth pale hands in the air and clapped them together. His entire visible aura moved to his hands and he spread them apart to his sides.

"I enjoyed that Draven." Nex laughed. "Now it's my turn."

Nex thrust his glowing hands forward and shot a stream of red electricity into the ground right below Draven. As he lifted his hands up red lightning began to shoot from the sky as the clouds turned red and the sky turned black. Then a massive tornado formed right at Draven's location...

"The four of us together can't beat Anti," said Tsu.
"If he's fighting anyone," said Aura, "He's probably toying with them. When he gets to Retan, though..."

--- --- ---

These guys are troublesome. It almost makes me want to release my true form. But that would be a waste of energy. I'm putting way too much into attacks that aren't doing anything to them, trying to finish them off quickly. I way overspent on Grave. I need to tone it down. "Gallic Gun!!!" He pointed his hands down at the guy right below him, firing a pink beam of energy down at him. 2% of his energy was spent...

"Well, if he tries to mess with Retan, I'm sure he'll be killed." Duilin replied. "I'm sure no single person can take on Retan. Probably not even Haraldur, or Abodahon could." He added.

"But if you have to fight this Anti guy, I'm sure you four won't have to fight him yourselves. As you can see we've got a lot more people helping us now." Duilin said, looking at the others. "There are a few more friends we made who are back in Tjed. A couple of Lizard Men actually left the empire, and are helping us."

"Oh yeah, I actually thought I should show you guys something." Duilin unsheathed the Iduran, the reflective blade shined as he displayed it to his four friends. "Now, I'm not sure if you remember or even knew Iduran. But he was the high knight of Romme. He returned not too long ago, but only briefly. He transformed into a sword. I don't know how. But apparently the old guy still has a lot of energy left in him, even after he died." Duilin smiled. "Not to mention the sword looks pretty cool."

--- ---

The pink gallic energy hit the elite dead on in the chest knocking it to the ground. It laid motionless, with smoke emitting from where the blast hit. Was it dead?

The other elite finally released its attack, it fired eight small energy bolts that shot directly from its aura, and at the end of these bolts was the image of a skull. If one had encountered Abodahon, or one of these elites before, they'd know that these energy beams actually seek the target until it hits it.

Four of the demonic seeker blasts flew past him and then zoomed back to hit him from behind, the other four went straight ahead. Two of the front ones aimed for his knees, and the other two went for his shoulders. Two of the back ones aimed for the head, while the other two went for his back.

//So sorry about tha, my internet crashed and i was unable to fix it till today\

The lightning terrified the generals. The lightning started to strike the water.

“Oh gawd!!!! I can’t do this!”

One of the generals screamed and started to run away. A bolt of lightning flashed down and struck the general killing him instantly.

“Uh uh uh.”

Druid turned around, his eyes were glowing a dark red that matched the colour of the lightning. He was wagging his finger in displeasure.

“You’re into the end men.”

The remaining generals looked at each other and continued to chant.

[Charging: 1925]

Coriko awoke and saw Marshall first. "What happened? Is everyone okay?"

Renard nodded and nervously took the vial of antidote from Ko'ji and poured it into his friend's mouth, trying the best he could to keep him from choking.  After a moment, Helix's breathing seemed to stabilize and he appeared to be in a restful slumber as opposed to excruciating pain.

"Did it work?"  Renard whispered.

"Normally, it should have..."  Virmir's deep voice resounded from behind.  Anslem was walking next to him and apparently had filled the High General in on the details.  "... but this is not a poison of the body."  Virmir stooped by the fallen mage and tenderly felt his forehead, then lifted his eyes to look at his pupils.  The then waved his hands over his body a few times as they glowed a pale blue.  Finally he shook his head sadly.

"His soul has been poisoned."  There was a muted gasp.  The normal cold demeanor of the silver fox melted a bit.  By now all the Velkens had gathered around, save for Bryce's party of four which were apparently still patrolling the city.  "It's deteriorating.  This undead held a nasty curse..."

Renard bit his tongue and tried to fight back the tears that wanted to well in his eyes.  Who on Gain could possibly perform a soul cleansing?  Humans hadn't even grasped the concept yet.

Virmir stood and sadly looked down at the Battle Mage.  "Ruiki's medicine will keep him alive for a time... but there's a chance he'll become undead."  They all knew what that meant.  They would have to banish him.  There wouldn't even be a soul left to save.  Oh, gods...

"Lady Urocy..."  Renard suddenly said.  The name made Virmir flinch.  All eyes turned to the short black robed Battle Mage. "Lady Urocy could save him... couldn't she?"

Virmir looked at him for a moment before closing his eyes and sighing. "Clearance would take too long... and she would be unable to return to Welkin.  She is needed there... badly..."

Renard looked at his dying friend and shook his head.  There had to be a way...there had to...

A stretcher was brought and they took the doomed fox down into a lower cabin of the ship.

----

Draven threw his hand before his face and blocked a stray bolt of lightning, a translucent red half dome appearing before him absorbing the impact.  The force was great enough to throw him backwards though, and he was quickly cought up in the wall of the tornado.

"Gaaahh!!"

Spinning around and around, he was ejected at a speed of 150 miles per hour, and thundered downward into a cliff's edge with a tremendous plume of smoke.  The ground rumbled as he flew into the rock, and boulders tumbled down upon him...

----

Virmir waited until everyone was gone, then walked to the end of the airship, resting on the railing and looking at the sky that was painted green under the shield dome that covered the city.  It should have been windy this high up, but the shield seemed to deflect even that.  He wondered if it was kept up long enough, everyone inside would suffocate.

When Ruiki had handed him the message, there were two scrolls in the case.  The first was an official document requesting Ruiki join his squad.  But the second he recognized as a personal message and put it off.   He removed the smooth paper from under his robe and unfurled it.

Dearest Ken,

It has been a while since we’ve heard from you.  Why don’t you write back?  Please do so.  We are all very worried.

Life goes on as normal here at Welkin.  Archmage Jensen says he has discovered a way to reduce the vile pull that emanates from the abyss.  It would be very exciting if we could all freely fly from island to island again.  But there is much doubt placed on his methods.

The tower is well and the people are strong.  Life is a little dull here lately, but I should be grateful for that, I know.  Please respond.  We are all looking forward to hearing from you.

Love,
Lucile Urocy, High Priestess of Welkin

"Anti most definitely stands a chance against Retan, at the least," said Zion. "But most definitely... thanks for having our backs." He smiles at Duilin. //I want him to at least stand a chance against Retan. He doesn't have to be truly capable of beating him, I just want him to put up a good fight.
His attention was diverted to the sword. "I heard a few things about Iduran. So now he's a sword, huh?" //Looks like Iduran has the Masamune (or Grandleon) complex. Razz

--- --- ---

He couldn't help but notice Draven get buried. Again. He didn't care enough for it to distract him too much, though. My, he must really like having rocks on top of him. He returned focus to the fight. It looked like one of them was out for now. But this next one... He will have to spend a good amount of energy to keep this from devastating him too badly. He observed the skulls... I think they might be targeting certain parts of my body. He waited for them to come in close.

Once they came in close range, he started to process the situation. It looks like... two headed for the knees... two for the shoulders... two for the back... two for the head. I know what I'll do. Most of Anti then vanished. Most. He left about 10% of his energy behind, in the form of... his knees, his shoulders, his back, and his head! He reappeared on the ground as a blob of sorts. Within a brief period of time, he'd regained his humanoid form. He looked up to see what happened to his partial clone...

Cain smiled, and gave Vincent a fat stack of papers.

-"This is a project our technicians, chemists and scientists have been working on for a while now. It is for a device called the "Sovereign's Hammer"... a large crystal prism which will be delivered into a place beyond the sky using these objects we found earlier - gravity orbs. Its function will be to focus sunlight into a deadly beam. However..."

The scribe's smile faded.

-"After research and small experiments, it was discovered that the concentrated beam is quickly scattered and dispersed in the dampness of the atmosphere. Upon your arrival, however, this gave me an idea. Among these documents you will find unfinished plans and sketches for a rather large airship, with a crystal core in the middle. It must be able to soar high in the sky while withstanding moderate to heavy damage. Its purpose will be to catch the focused light and amplify it with the crystal core. There were also plans suggested for having reflection prisms to fire smaller, more precise beams of sunlight, but you will find all the details enclosed within that pack of papers. I must warn you, though - you must cherish this project with more tenderness than your own child. The crystal prism in the sky will burn out after only a few minutes of usage, and the Sovereign does not like mistakes. In any case, I suggest you get started. If you find you need something, please, do not hesitate to contact me."

--- --- ---

Another day, after day, after day... The torment never seemed to cease. It was a whole year before Kragos showed up in the meal hall again. Now, in Ein's group, only four others remained. The same went for the other two groups, give or take a person. Oddly, the Necrolytes were never seen by Ein, or any other of his groupies, so he couldn't judge their size.

By this time, Ein has mastered his spear weapon to a point almost beyond his own limbs. The weapon was covered in numerous glyphs and inscriptions, as Ein's knowledge of glyphs expanded. As inscribable space on the weapon ran out, he started using his own skin as a drawing board. His chest and back were covered in the demonic-looking sigils, many providing a local function for the body itself - for example, several increased his speed, strength and dexterity, while others provided resistance against fire, lightning and cold. Others still allowed him to breathe underwater and in hazardous gases. Ein was still extremely prone to mistakes when creating the glyphs - so before etching one into his weapon or his skin, he would have to practice that precise etching several times before getting it right.

Now, however, a final task was ahead of Ein, before completely graduating from the Academy. He and the other recruits were sent to the Arena preparation chambers. There stood Kragos, with all of the other instructors around him. The headmaster spoke.

-"Well, you've made it this far, and it's a lot further than a vast majority of recruits. One final task lies ahead of you - the Arena trials. Pass and leave. Fail, and die."

Without any further words, all of them left, other than instructor Gamall.

-"First up," she screeched. "Is Eris."

The aforementioned was ready ten minutes in advance, but obviously not expecting it.

-"Bes insane, hag? Me? Ugh... Fine... Insie I go..."

The heavy doors closed and locked after Eris went inside. For about an hour, Ein listened to various sounds coming from the combat grounds, many of which were creatures' groans. Finally, the blood-covered Eris emerged from the Arena.

-"Nasty blood... ew. Bes gross."

From the way she acted, Ein noticed no injury - however, it was difficult to tell, as her body was covered in blood.

-"Con-ugh-ratulations," coughed Gamall. "Now go see the Colonel. Next up is... what's your name here... Njord! You're up."

...and so it went on. By the time Ein got his own turn, it was evening - and neither of the other two ranged Stalkers returned from the Arena.

-"Einherjar! You're last. Go in."

Ein complied, and was let inside the vast dome.

It was quite awe-inspiring. The Arena was exactly that - a huge circlet of land, lit by nothing more than barrier-filtered moonlight. There were gates opposing Ein - from which came growling, roaring, cackling, and other mixed sounds.

Suddenly, the ground beneath Ein lit up, the light forming a gigantic "5" on the arena floor. The light vanished as suddenly as it appeared, and the gates squeaked open. Ein dashed to one of the arena walls, hiding beneath his chameleon cloak.

The opening round was probably nothing but a warm-up, because the creature from behind the gates was just a simple wyvern. Ein smirked, and fired his weapon, which was aimed directly at the wyvern's head. Nothing to write home about: the wyvern fell down and vanished in blue smoke. The ground flared again, this time with a "4".

Heh, so they're counting off the rounds, Ein thought. This means that there are four more to go.

The sound of grinding metal warned Ein of another newcomer. This one was a man-lizard hybrid, much larger than Ein himself. It looked to be semi-intelligent, because it was holding a sword. Another warm-up? Wasn't one enough?

This time, Ein amused himself by aiming at the heart. The spear weapon clicked...

...and after a squeal, hit the ground at the lizard man's feet.

-"Ha! Ha ha! Puny ranger this time! Ha! You no match for me, worm, and you arrow no match for metal shirt! Cor-nel train me hims-self. Come out and die like man! I find, you die like worm!"

The lizard scattered around the arena, searching for Ein, who lay motionlessly on the ground. For the time being, the lizard shouldn't notice him. The armour, whose luster Ein dismissed as moonlight reflecting off of the creature's scales, was indeed quite thick. Seemed as though he would need to use the overcharge...

Like a ghost, Ein followed the lizard around the arena, always behind his back and cloaked. The lizard, managing not to notice Ein, continued circling around the arena, as Ein hid in another shadow. Using the time, he took out the two remaining spears from the weapon, and slid one of them into a hole in the middle. He's never had to use this slot before...

Putting his weapon on the ground, Ein pulled up the bowstrings from all three of the crossbow devices forming the triangle around the slot. They were all empty, and all of their combined power would be concentrated into that one slot, for just one spear.

-"Hah! I hear you toy winding up, worm! See you, catch you, skin you, eat you! Hahaha!"

The lizard rushed towards Ein, who was drawing back the final string. He only gave the lizard a quick glance, who appeared to be very angered by the gesture.

-"Die, puny human! Feel the power of the DRAGON SLASH!!!"

From a good ten meters away from Ein, the creature leaped towards him with its sword pointed right at him. Utilizing his agility glyph, Ein ducked, and as the lizard went over him, he shot his weapon at its armoured chest. The tremendous shock power from three over sized crossbows fired at the same time threw the creature high up into the air. The spear, although highly deformed from the magnitude of the impact, was stuck deep in Ein's opponent's chest.

"We're fine." Marshall said. Coriko was laying on a bed in some sort of old run down cabin.

Firstman was sitting on a chair that looked in as good condition as the cabin did. He was reading a book he usually kept with him titled "The Conquest of Bread" which was written by Kropotkin.

"You must have passed out when you got poisoned by an attack the count hit you with." Marshall explained. "You should be fine now. So, we've arrived where we believe the last hidden temple is. Wilham is out looking around the island trying to find it. He said we can stay here and rest. If you want to go out and help him, you're welcome to. Firstman and I require some rest however."

--- ---

"Well, he's more than just a sword, Zion." Duilin replied. "He's still alive; his spirit is in this sword. I'm just the guy carrying him around. Strangest thing, is when he transformed into the sword, I was the only one who could pick it up, without getting shocked from the life-force. I believe Iduran only wants me and the others who tried to save Romme, but who are now avenging it."

He sheathed the sword.

"Or...something like that." Duilin smiled.

//Trent or Drannic should decied when we get through the maze cave since Duilin doesn't remember the way through.\

--- ---

The demonic seekers crashed into Anti's clone and destroyed it. The elite believing he has won but then saw his foe seemingly reappear a few feet infront of him on the ground.

Meanwhile Nex crossed his arms and laughed manically as Draven was tossed around by the tornado, which continued to rip a part the area.

"Oh come on, buddy don't die on me now, I haven't even finished killing you yet!"

"No I have to and help. After what happened when I fought the count. I could have beaten him but that poision it got to me. I have to go and help the team rather then take a back seat. Where can I find Wilham?"

---

Soon the lightning bolts started to touch the water. When this happened the water would shimmer and crack but nothing bigger. Druid stood waving his hands around almost like he was trying to control the bolts. Druid’s right hand pulsed and the sky did as well.

“Ah, I’ve finally got one. Now the show will begin.”

"Nobody's ashamed of you for not defeating the count. He's a skilled warrior." Marshall assured. "But yeah Wilham's just out somewhere." Marshall replied. "I'm sure you can find him, this island isn't very big, and the empire doesn't seem to pay much attention to it."

Outside the cabin was a small island, the sky was still tainted by the darkness of the Emperor, but the island itself was like a peaceful beach. The grass was clear, the sand on the shore was smooth and clean and there were waves splashing against rocks near the shoreline.

The cabin was positioned near by a hill with trees around it. The top of the hill however seemed have a dark taint about it, nothing was growing on top of it, and the dirt was dimly coloured as if a permanent shadow was above it.

Wilham was on a peak in the hill, but not at the top. He was moving some rocks trying to find a passage way or something.

//The island they're on is marked by the violet dot on this map.\

"Young man, I am dazzled." proclaimed Johnny with a smile. "I don't know what kind of magic you used to survive that heat but it must be powerful to have survive such an inferno that bird created."

"Johnny," asked Quad, "Did you know about the conditions of that cave?".

"Yes."

"YOU BASTARD!!! You sent me in that dreaded cave knowing it could of killed me?"

"Relax Q."

"NO!!!" Quadricentennial felt very angry, more angry that he has ever before. He never felt like this before. He never thought that he would get so upset and mad before for anything in his life. "You seriously sent me there knowing I could of burnt up."

"But you didn't."

"Well you couldn't have possibly known I would survive it."

"But you did." Quad then launched towards Johnny, grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up.

"You bastard. You think this is some sort of game for you? Sending in people to their deaths on a cave that is hotter than a million suns?" Johnny was struggling to get some air but the grip on his neck was overwhelming. Quad dropped him to the floor. Johnny started coughing and hacking. "I'm getting out of here." Quad said as he was starting to leave. Johnny sat on the floor, gasping for air. Quad continued to walk off into the now setting sun.

His life has definitely turn changed. He didn't knew what he was anymore. Was he even human? He couldn't figure out what was his life about now? He looked at his hands and pondered "What am I?", "What has become of me?", "What is the fate of my life?". "I need answers. I need answers to who I am." He wanted an easy solution but he was sure he wouldn't find it just wandering about. As he thought to himself what his purpose in life now is, he then remembered in the cave, a man approached him. Deep within that cave that burned hotter than anything in the world, a man stood before him, threatening to cut his limbs. "That man. He was in the cave that would of burned his flesh. He must know something."

Quad ran back to the cave to see if there was signs of the mysterious man.

A huge explosion burst from underneath Nex and Draven soared skyward, wrapped in a raging inferno as boulders were strewn about.  He rocketed just behind the demon and reared back his fist, delivering a thundering punch towards the back of the demon's helmeted head...
